Caffe' Tommaseo In Trieste

Wonderful experience. High level quality service, very warm-welcoming staff, extremely kind and polite. Tiramisu was the best I have ever had. From now on, this is my must-stop in Trieste!!!

This restaurant has a magical atmosphere that you can feel as soon as you enter. I was able to sample the Easter lunch menu, which was presented down to the smallest detail, and each dish was crafted with care, attention, and sophistication. The risotto with scampi tails and bergamot was exquisite and very sophisticated in flavor. Compliments to the chef and all the staff, who made this Easter day a further demonstration of their professionalism. Bravo!!!!!!

Everything was superb!! The beautiful layout of the restaurant, the presentation and quality of the menu, the friendliness, helpfulness, and expertise of all the staff. We were all satisfied and happy; definitely an experience worth repeating!

At lunchtime, there's a business lunch for €16. Highly recommended... It includes a main course, a glass of wine, a water, and a coffee.

Great food, very elegant restaurant.

A true landmark in the splendid city surrounding it, seemingly transcending time. The patron's attention is first drawn to the interior decorations, reminiscent of 19th-century Viennese cafés. But countless details, subtle yet eloquent, immediately connect it to Trieste's unique character: among them are the handle on the front door, bearing the effigy of Generali Insurance (which financed one of the last renovations), but above all the display cases containing authentic writings and memorabilia belonging to Niccolò Tommaseo. Their location, far from the center of the scene, prevents diners interested in simply enjoying a first-class meal in a refined (and never snobbish) setting from being distracted from their purpose. Instead, it enriches the experience of other visitors, who also notice the perfect lighting, which enhances the architectural ornaments. The dishes, served with care and aesthetic refinement, admirably combine local tradition and creativity, allowing for the experimentation of new flavors. Of course, there are also more common, equally excellent dishes for those less interested in novelty. A self-inflicted, wretched fate, with the bitter taste of a wasted opportunity (surely yet another), awaits the "parvenu" diner. Certainly a foreigner, they allow their gaze, fixed and inelegant, to invade the spacious spaces of the Tommaseo to land on the tables of other patrons, depriving their palate of the attention it deserves to be fully exalted, also depriving themselves of the pleasure of conversing with their fellow diners in a place so suited to such a purpose. Their expressions almost convey disbelief that diners so different from themselves can feel so welcome. The staff is indeed absolutely up to the task, completely at ease in welcoming such a diverse group of guests. Professionalism, courtesy, and efficiency stand out, even at peak times. If a tourist doesn't have excellent memories of the Tommaseo restaurant, the same cannot be said for a true traveler.

Another wonderful Easter lunch in a stunning setting, with a delicious menu and impeccable staff. We know each other—we have a loyalty card—but today they outdid themselves.

First time out for dinner after a few after-theater... A truly pleasant surprise to discover that you can eat so well in a wonderfully evocative location like the Tommaseo! The chef is brilliant, with his inventiveness and mastery, and the waiter in the white jacket is truly something extra! A top experience! We'll be back for more!

A truly wonderful, historic café. Stunning atmosphere and amazing cakes and chocolates. However, seating is only available outside, and while the service is pleasant and friendly, it's completely disorganized! You can easily wait 30 minutes for your espresso and cake.

Back for the second time, expectations always met, fresh products and a changing menu, refined atmosphere and service!
