20/06/2025: Compliments to the restaurant and the staff of area 8, who treat their customers like family and I am one of them. I can't help but mention them one by one: Valentina, a sister to me, I want to say it, because she treats me well, I just have to thank her. Gianvito, is a spectacular person. Francesco, my fellow countryman, like a brother to me. I owe him a lot, he gives me advice and is always available. Vittorio, is a special person, he treats me like a VIP. Giuseppe, the Kimi Antonelli of area8, always with great mastery behind the counter. Mario, a great guy, friendly and nice.

23/05/2025: Impeccable!! I enjoyed lots of very well-prepared Italian specialties. The servers were very kind and welcoming, and the restaurant is well-located in the heart of the troglodyte settlements!

22/05/2025: I read some serious reviews about this restaurant here. I can only think that these people were very unlucky. I found the atmosphere on the terrace very pleasant, the service was absolutely kind and courteous, the food very good and the price fair, in line with the prices charged in the region. The experience was so good that I went back the next day. Later I realized that most of the reviews were quite old, from years ago, so I think they are no longer justified. I recommend it.

09/07/2025: Nice restaurant with about 20 tables. Quiet, pleasant and the service is at a very high level. The staff speaks very good English. Local dishes are offered. I recommend Medaglioni filled with provola cheese and aubergines, peperoni cruschi with pecorino, grigliata mista di carni del territorio. They sent us a gift... a package of pasta.

09/07/2025: Excellent food, wine, and service. We had the peperoni cruschi with pecorino canestrato (12 euros), medallions stuffed with provola and eggplant (16 euros), mixed grill of local meats (26 euros), and delicious white wine.

10/07/2025: An experience to forget. We went to this restaurant with high expectations, but we left hungry and in disbelief. The portions were ridiculously small, so much so that it felt more like a forced tasting than a proper meal. The climax came when, after asking for a little olive oil to accompany the bread, we found that oil was added to our bill... as if we'd asked for a tasting of fine oils, without being informed or even interested. Absurd. A small but significant gesture: instead of offering a drizzle of oil as is done in any trattoria with a modicum of hospitality, they decided to charge for it. A shame, because it would have taken so little to make the experience more enjoyable. Instead, we felt cheated. We won't be returning, and we won't recommend it.

10/07/2025: Tiny portions, an exorbitant bill... and the icing on the cake: they charged me for the olive oil "tasting." Just a few drops, as if it were French perfume.

Cleanliness attention to the customer and also very attentive to our dog by immediately getting water for her. Highly recommended. Compliments we will definitely return when we are again in Matera. 12/07/2025: We ordered a mixed antipasto, which we thoroughly enjoyed for its variety and visual impact (the eye also deserves its share). The first courses also delighted our palates. The fusilli, Cruschi peppers, fried breadcrumbs, pancetta, and creamed caciocavallo cheese; the mixed pasta of conchiglioni rigati and cinnamon ricotta calzones with a cherry tomato sauce, sun-dried tomatoes, pezzente sausage with caciocavallo flakes; and the buffalo mozzarella-filled ravioli with a cherry tomato, basil, and caciocavallo cheese sauce were truly unique and delicious.

11/07/2025: The atmosphere was very warm, and we were served promptly without a reservation. The experience is made easier if you're fluent in Italian. The dishes were beautifully presented and exquisite, especially the pasta. We recommend the Verbo wine, which was a very good choice suggested by another traveler!

15/07/2025: Nos encontramos con este por casualidad, un pequeño restaurante y un saludo amable por el propietario que pensamos que probaríamos. Hemos estado comiendo en algunos restaurantes muy buenos en este viaje en Sicilia y la Italia continental esta pequeña joya era rica allí. Cada plato que comimos era fresco y un 10. No podía faltar el servicio o lo bueno, recomiendo encarecidamente que vaya allí, si volvemos a Matera nos aseguraríamos de comer aquí de nuevo.

09/07/2025: No hay mesa para familias con niños :/ Tenían mesas disponibles pero fueron muy groseros con nosotros. (4 adultos 4 niñas) Sin siquiera escuchar nuestro interés, rechazaron nuestra solicitud de cena con una señal de mano muy extraña…

01/06/2025: Found this place in a drive through in Maratea. I ordered sea food everything was very fresh. The food was great and the service was very nice. The price was moderat. Most of the people were gathering in a restaurant in the middle of the city but I still strong recommend this place

15/06/2025: The first thought as soon as lunch was over was: "it's like being at a family lunch!" in complete tranquility, the very kind owners who immediately put you at ease and are very attentive to every need even if you don't ask specifically, they already know what you need. Simple and genuine food you can feel the freshness so excellent! A place suitable for children and to enjoy a bit of peace.. madly in love with the swing on the tree.. we will gladly return!
