05/07/2025: Excellent Choice Recommended by an acquaintance of my wife, we had dinner there a few nights ago - facing the sea. Wide choice, excellent combinations: a triumph of flavors. We did not take the appetizers because it was "a demanding tour", but I was told that they are remarkable. Excellent first courses chosen, linguine and risotto (linguine allo scoglio, a truly rich dish mixed well). Excellent desserts too (super pasticciotto). Attentive and professional service. Excellent setting facing the sea. If in the area, we will definitely return.

18/06/2025: Perfect, quiet spot for a coffee and a delicious pistachio croissant. Friendly service, decent price, and they have almond milk for your cappuccino if you’re dairy free or vegan!

11/06/2025: A nice place well located in the historic center, where you can eat very well at lunch. Excellent coffee and the choice proposed for breakfast.

16/07/2025: Wonderfully located hotel in the center of Sestri on the seafront. Spacious room. Perfect hygiene. Discreet and professional welcome. We dined at the restaurant and had a very good meal. A great place.

15/07/2025: Very comfortable hotel right on the beach. The rooms are dated but fairly clean and fresh. It's obvious they're slowly renovating. The restaurant is excellent.

07/07/2025: Well, it's one thing to make a mistake in the dish you ordered, it's another to make fun of the customer. Today I go in alone and they make me sit down. I order the simplest thing in the world, a focaccia with mozzarella, tomato and rocket. They bring me a pizza with raw ham, parmesan, rocket and cherry tomatoes accompanied by an empty focaccia. The waiter, like an old fox, tells me that this is what they mean by focaccia. Ok but that's a pizza with ham too, and the focaccia is empty. So I have the pizza and the focaccia taken back since they obviously got everything wrong. But that's fine, to err is human. After a few seconds the same waiter from before appears and tells me: "They're making it again right away". Not even 30 seconds later another waiter arrives and brings me the same empty focaccia as before but with the toppings from the previous pizza spilled on top. I can't see anymore, I repeat, the mistake is fine but the mockery is not! I got up and left hungry and mocked by strangers. They may make good food, but they are very crafty. Be careful!!

07/07/2025: It was a complete disaster. More than half of our order was forgotten and not served. We were missing a drink, our plate of calamari, and our salad. We only got our two pizzas. Unfortunately, it was one of the worst pizzas we've ever had. The topping was extremely runny and it was more like eating a runny lasagna than a pizza. The taste was just bland. I would have preferred some seasoning and salt. And of course, at the end, we got the bill for all the dishes we didn't get. Honestly, we can't recommend this restaurant, in terms of the food or the service.

28/05/2025: Rustic and very good! We ate the tomato soup and steak with green pepper sauce and spinach and porcini. Very tasty and friendly service. Quite ok wine list. If you want a view, sit inside.

11/05/2025: Unfortunately I have to change my mind from the previous five star review…. Much worse! Terrible first courses... 2 tagliatelle with porcini mushrooms which were practically plain tagliatelle without even a bit of oil, drained and put on the plate... not even a hint of porcini mushrooms - pappardelle with wild boar in white without sauce and with coarse pieces of wild boar thrown in (pappardelle with wild boar undoubtedly comes with sauce...) The second courses had cuts full of calluses and the chicken was inedible because it was raw. The side dishes with baked potatoes soaked in oil and who knows how many times reheated due to their dark colour, the fried artichokes dried and fried with used oil…. We're not really there!!!!! I don't know if the chef has changed (so to speak), if it's an economic choice or what but this way you lose customers! I take away the positive review given and it will certainly be the last time I come..

10/07/2025: Excellent appetizers, excellent pizzas, fair prices, fast service, the location has an outdoor space and several indoor dining rooms. You can enjoy a wide variety of pizzas, from classic to more elaborate/original, as well as delicious appetizers. My only complaint is the air conditioning, which, at the table where we were seated, wasn't very comfortable during dinner.

21/07/2025: It's been a while since we've dined at this restaurant, and I have to say my opinion hasn't changed: the food and pizza are always top-notch, and the service always lives up to my expectations. I definitely recommend it as a restaurant in a quiet, welcoming atmosphere where you can enjoy excellent dishes. Prices are average.

For more than 10 years, during which we have been visiting this restaurant when coming to Tuscany, the quality of the food has always been at its best. Great service. Friendly staff. 09/06/2025: Excellent experience in tasting the typical products of Scansano, the owner very kind and friendly, very old typical place with vaults and exposed stone walls dating back to 1200, very well kept and with many products on display, from the wines to the jars in oil, not to mention the cantucci..... And also the panforte 😋😋😋

16/06/2025: Etwas entfernt vom lebendigen Hafen mit seinen vielen Restaurants liegt das Regia im Hotel Palazzo Filisio ruhig neben der Katherale und liefert richtig gutes Essen mit sehr netten Service (Nunzio). Unbedingt draußen essen; drinnen ist es eher weniger schön.

16/06/2025: We had a lovely meal to celebrate our wedding anniversary at this beautiful restaurant. The setting, next to the basilica, was spectacular as the sun set over the sea. The food was fantastic as was the service.

14/06/2025: Il Casottino is a rare gem, one of those places that enter your heart from the first moment. The atmosphere is warm, authentic, with a perfect balance between tradition and attention to detail. Each dish is an explosion of true, genuine, memorable flavors. The cuisine is simply extraordinary, with very fresh ingredients and a passion that can be felt in every bite. But what makes the experience complete is the impeccable service. A special mention goes without a doubt to the waitress who served us and accommodated all our countless requests (unfortunately I don't know her name): kind, smiling, attentive and helpful. I recommend “Il Casottino” with all my heart, we will definitely be back again and again.
