21/07/2025: Worst pizza (frozen) I've ever had for €20! Obviously, the prices in Portofino are a bit higher, which didn't bother me at the time, but selling a pizza like that is outrageous. An Aperol Spritz for €18 is expensive, but it's okay for such an atmosphere right on the main square. Tables aren't cleared (only after payment); the wait staff prefer to stand around.

16/08/2024: Terrible welcome from the waiter, long wait to be served a simple Spritz... The waiter seemed impatient and even annoyed that we didn't choose our dishes quickly. We got up and left without eating... Place to avoid...

15/08/2024: The food was good, it really depends on what you take… The big problem is that we’ve waited 1 hour to receive the plate. They warned us that we would have to wait a bit but 1 hour is too much ! Moreover the quantity is so tiny I had the impression to just have the right to taste a part of a plate. If you’re hungry this is not the place to be ! The staff was not the best staff you will ever encounter but it’s a normal staff I can’t critic the staff.

30/06/2025: Avoid this place at all costs. I had a deeply disappointing experience here and would not recommend it to anyone, locals or tourists. I’m Italian, born and raised, currently living in Australia. Yesterday, I visited Portofino with my Australian partner, who doesn’t speak or understand Italian and was visiting Italy for the first time. I was excited to share some fresh Ligurian focaccia and the kind of traditional panini Italy is famous for. We stopped by this bakery hoping to grab a quick bite before heading to the beach. I asked in Italian if they made panini, and a younger staff member confirmed they did. While I was translating to my partner in English, the older lady behind the counter suddenly became extremely rude and aggressive. I politely asked for bresaola, one of the meats we were offered, and that’s when she began abusing me, first in Italian, then in Ligurian dialect (which I understand perfectly). I calmly let her know that I understood every word and asked if she could be a bit kinder, as I was simply trying to order what was already offered. Shockingly, the rudeness continued. She said that making a panino was a huge favor, even though we were paying customers and asked for nothing out of the ordinary and she wasn't even serving us and the bakery has just another client in she was attending to. That gentleman she was serving was very embarrassed meanwhile my partner was very confused since he did not understand a word. In the end, I told her to keep the panino and walked out, completely shocked and embarrassed, especially because this was my partner’s first taste of Italy, and this kind of hostility is not at all representative of true Italian hospitality. It’s incredibly disappointing to be treated with such disrespect in your own country, especially when you're trying to share it with someone you care about. Sadly, Portofino only has 2 bakeries, and perhaps this gives some people the impression they can treat customers however they like. I strongly suggest supporting other local businesses where respect and kindness are still part of the culture. Italian hospitality should be warm, generous, and welcoming. This experience was anything but.

01/03/2025: A dicembre in occasione dei mercatini di Natale siamo andati a prendere un aperitivo, cibo ottimo, personale professionale e molto disponibile, essendo il compleanno di mamma ho chiesto a Rocco una candelina da mettere su di un dolce....beh lui ha fatto molto di più, ha messo a sorpresa la canzone di buon compleanno coinvolgendo tutto il locale. Grazie di cuore

31/05/2025: The worst place to eat in Genoa. Burnt French fries and grandparents gave us an extra packet of ketchup, frozen pizzas at €16 each and terrible service.

27/05/2025: I would leave 0 stars if possible the service was slow and the owner YELLED at me when asking questions about the bill. This is not how you treat tourists. 👎🏼 and the bathroom smelled so bad.

04/08/2025: Got food poisoning, and i just had spaghetti pomodoro. So if you don’t want to spend your trip with your head in the toilet, don’t eat here.

28/07/2025: Very poor service, the order arrived all together, with appetizers, first courses and sandwiches... the order was taken incorrectly, the pasta was reheated, the sandwiches were forgotten, nothing terrible, I absolutely do not recommend it, a shame because it is a nice place, I will not return

21/07/2025: Very friendly staff, a relaxed atmosphere, and amazing toasted sandwiches and gelato! Highly recommended.

10/03/2025: Totally unpleasant food. The rice with seafood looked like a zucca risotto. The chaufa tasted like anything but chaufa. Dry tamal without color, without life. The huancaina potato without salt, tasteless. Potato stuffed with 50% potato and the rest will have to be said by the chef In conclusion, expensive, not tasty, dishes that do not represent my country since Peruvians are known for putting emotion into what we do, totally flat food and what a shame that people try these dishes that call themselves Peruvian, unfortunate. 07/08/2025: An experience to be avoided. We ordered Coca-Colas for €10. We received a lukewarm brown liquid, with no bubbles, no taste, no freshness, served in a glass without a bottle or explanation. We asked for a change, three times. They were royally ignored. We went to speak to the owner... and there was the final straw: an unbearable, haughty, contemptuous guy who sent us packing with a curt and self-righteous "adios," as if we had disturbed him at the wrong time. Finally, he threw us 20cl mini-Cokes, unopened, without a glass, without a word, without respect, and above all: a categorical refusal to open them for us. The sense of service remained in the restrooms (which were filthy, by the way, like the bar inside). The icing on the cake: the owner didn't want us to pay by card. Strange for an establishment that charges 20cl of soda as if it were champagne. Loathsome service, odious attitude, questionable atmosphere. Avoid if you value your dignity and your wallet. It's simple: we're treated like nuisances for daring to demand what we paid FULL price for. RUN AWAY!!!

17/06/2025: Husband and wife pastry operation here from the USA. We received amazing service, and it’s a wonderful place to have a cup of coffee, and espresso martini, and to look on the beautiful mountains that surround the harbor. This is Italy, and perhaps a little bit of the local language, and kindness, will be reciprocated in kind.

15/03/2025: Disgusting service!!! Rude and impolite guy serving food. He should be fired!! How can they keep someone so rude on staff?? Worst Asian food ever eaten. Cantonese rice was literally only rice with nothing else. Stay away from that store!!!

15/07/2025: Wir waren im 2017 das letzte Mal in diesem Restaurant und hatten unvergessliche Bruschette und einen tollen Abend gehabt mit super Service. Waren heute wieder da und mussten geststellen dass das Restaurant nur noch ein Schatten seiner selbst ist. Dreckick, vollgestellt und Essen wie Service mangelhaft. Zum Ende die Rechnung ohne Preise, einfach nur die Quittung über den bezahlten Betrag. Chef sitzt hinten auf einer Bank, wahrscheindlich die Mutter vor dem Restaurant und als Servierer ein etwas verwirrter Mann. Abgeräumt wird nicht, wenn man etwas will muss man wie wild wedeln. Nicht zu empfehlen, unter KEINEN UMSTÄNDEN

30/07/2025: CoverCharge to sit down not even mentioned? Hidden charges....This is a RipOff bad example of a place to visit. Go elsewhere as we had to $5 glasses of wine which is all we wanted and made us buy Caprese. Over $100 Euro. Charged $12 cover charge per person & a 10% tip on the cover charge, LOL, plus other fees. We basically paid $100 Euro for two glasses of wine & bread. Bad experience for Portofino
