16/02/2025: First of all, the service was very friendly. I was embarrassed and couldn't speak English very well, but he tried his best to communicate with me. I postponed my order twice, but they waited patiently for it. Of course the food tasted great. It was by far the best homemade noodles I had in Italy. I had peach pasta with peppers, today's special, truffle gnocchi, and beef marinated in balsamic. The peach pasta (it says red pepper in the description) is a perfect fit for Korean tastes, and when I asked if it could be made spicier, they brought me more red pepper so I could personally adjust the consistency. The truffle gnocchi was amazing, from the texture to the taste, as if all the gnocchi I had ever eaten was a lie. I felt like I had been denied life. It tasted so amazing. The truffle's creaminess wasn't strong, but rather had a subtle scent that lingered for a long time, and the cream also made me think, "This is gnocchi?" The taste wasn't so greasy that I had to keep holding my fork... Both of them ate their food to the point where they could barely see the floor. Today's dessert included panna cotta (caramel, berry) and chocolate, and I had the berry panna cotta. The compote and panna cotta, which seemed to have been boiled themselves, were not too sweet and were good. I tried this place three times and managed to get it, but if I had given up because I was tired, it would have been a big problem. It's busy every day except Sunday evening, so be sure to make a reservation before visiting... I visited in the morning, made a reservation, and was able to have dinner. I am really grateful to this house for allowing me to have a delicious meal. I highly recommend you visit.

05/02/2025: I heard that this area is famous for peach pasta. I liked the chewy texture. The Arrabiata Peach Pasta was moderately spicy and had a garlicky(?) flavor, so it suited my taste just right. I also took a bite of the ragu peach pasta, and it was delicious, but I liked the arrabbiata better.

09/01/2025: Todo sobre La Gruta en esta noche de invierno fue la perfección, desde la copa de Franciacorta con el bouche de diversión hasta la deliciosa tarta de manzana. La cocina es un paso adelante de la mayoría de la zona sin ser quisquilloso o exagerado. Disfrutamos de un hermoso e igual de sabroso paté de hígado de pollo en delicado brioche, una pasta compartida y dos excelentes platos principales: la pintada rellena y la bistecca alla Fiorentina, todo acompañado de un Talosa Vino Nobile. El servicio proporcionado por nuestros anfitriones era atento y amable, en absoluto congestionado. Si te gusta comer bien pero quieres que tu comida sepa tan bien como parece, La Grotta es para ti.

11/02/2025: Superlative! The owner's hospitality, delicacy and preparation were the perfect setting for the delicacies we ate. The platter was wonderful not only in taste but also in presentation and the pici alla Bina were tops.. I would go back even now! Also to try the dessert...we were "full" we preferred not to order it, with the promise of returning in spring. I recommend it to anyone

09/02/2025: Amazing experience! The owner welcomed us with extreme courtesy, accompanying us step by step throughout the dinner. His recommendations on meat courses were genuine and in line with our expectations, while the choice of wine was impeccable. To conclude, the grand finale was beautiful: a tiramisu with cantucci that left us speechless. An experience that I not only recommend, but would gladly repeat. Highly recommended!

21/02/2025: Siamo capitati casualmente in questo piccolo locale ed è stata una piacevolissima scoperta. Locale piccolo ma molto ordinato che ricorda le vecchie osterie di una volta. Tutto quello che abbiamo mangiato è stato buonissimo. Complimenti!!!

11/01/2025: We were here for dinner on 31/12, a chaotic evening by definition. We found a warm, welcoming, quite intimate environment, in its simplicity. A very kind and attentive service, we were pampered and ate at the right times, without long waits and without stuffing ourselves, with a mouth-watering all-carte menu. Delicious food, excellent wine, top staff and owners. Truly a beautiful experience. Well done, and thank you!!

21/01/2025: Estoy sorprendido de que alguien le dio a este lugar una crítica negativa. Quizás están acostumbrados a la gelación que se bombea llena de aire o a aquellos que no usan ingredientes frescos y de temporada. ¡No puedo decir lo suficiente sobre lo maravilloso que fue este helado! Tomamos una clase de helado en Montepulciano y lo disfrutamos a diario en Pienza. Nicola y su personal es cálido y amable. Es muy conocedor de la historia del helado, lo que lo hace diferente de los lugares más comercializados, etc. tenía nada menos que 10 sabores en el menú diario. Muchos de los cuales eran diferentes e inventivos. Este es el gelato que medí cada dos gelatos a lo largo del resto de mi viaje. ME ENCANTA esta gelatina!

03/11/2024: A small pearl in the heart of Montepulciano. They produce a delicious ice cream, with all natural ingredients absolutely KM0, I tasted an ice cream with new oil and fiordilatte which to say is good, absolutely does not convey the wonderful taste it leaves in the mouth. They should force the owner (Nicola) to put up a sign saying (WARNING IT CREATES ADDICTION) Well done Nico!!!!!

23/12/2024: Sunday lunch as a couple, express stop. With parking, cozy atmosphere, clean bathrooms and wonderful service from Max. The bruschete antipasto was very delicious to share and two pasta dishes: pici al ragù toscano and cappellacci with lemon (shared), both delicious! With rosso wine recommended by Max, very good too. We will surely return!

06/01/2025: End of year dinner, Particular place with various very suggestive rooms, pleasant evening, the service in the room was excellent, everything was managed very well until midnight arrived for the toast at the beginning of the new year. I wasn't enthusiastic about the menu, the dishes are well presented, the courses are a taster, go for the aperitif and starter, the two first courses, tortelli with carbonara cream, red prawns and broccoli, excellent dish, considering the little quantity I gave it to my husband, the risotto with oyster and champagne, the oyster prevailed so much that the champagne was barely noticeable, moreover it was behind in cooking (left on the plate), the worst thing was the second "turbot in three consistencies" 1) small sausage (the size of a finger) so broken up with fennel and other things that you couldn't tell what fish it was, nor was it nice to look at, 2) slice of fish with bone (quantity: the tip of a fork) chewy, 3) beaten raw. Tasting of sweets As if to say too much is just as little, it's lame.

03/01/2025: Unforgettable experience, an environment with attention to detail, they welcomed us warmly, served at the right time with dishes with a unique flavour, everything extremely delicious but the thing I absolutely loved were the desserts, it had been a long time since I ate such good desserts , with a delicate and incredible flavor, truly TOPPPP SUPER RECOMMENDED!!!

05/01/2025: Abbiamo trascorso il fine anno qui e siamo stati davvero bene... Ottimo servizio bella la taverna dove abbiamo cenato, i proprietari davvero gentili e meritevoli di un bel 10 per l'organizzazione che non ha mancato di nulla. Bello il menù e il dolce eccezionale. Ci rivedremo presto.

02/02/2025: What a beautiful restaurant and winery. We were welcomed immediately and were made to feel like we were important. I didn’t get the ladies names, but they were also attentive and smiling and very helpful. All this without a booking but I recommend making one ..the owner came and greeted us and was happy to have a chat about his origins, the restaurant and about the winery. He was relaxed and friendly with his team, which I respect. When he was leaving for the day he came to our table and thanked us personally. Excellent etiquette and much appreciated. we were lucky and grateful. It was busy but food came out quickly and was delicious..I recommend the ‘Bistecca Fiorentina’ it fed the four of us, and we took some home too. Note- The photos of empty plates. You must know empty plates are what the chef is looking for. Compliments to the chefs. The did great! The wine was delicious, and I highly recommend the red label Sangiovese. If you understand how difficult it is to make this wine(as I do) then you can appreciate and applaud how easy this winery makes it look. Delicious full fruit driven but not showing off and yet lasts long enough on the palate to bring a smile on your face. Congratulations!!🍷🍷🍷🍷🍷 Truly a lovely experience and finishing with a tour of the winery, massive barrels with Elia as our guide. He was knowledgeable of the history of the winery, which dates back to 1200’s being the oldest winery in Montepulciano and probably the most important winery of the region. Elia was a very friendly and attentive server as well. Always moving around the tables with ease and smiling. He can sing too! So, book and go when in Montepulciano, tell him Rita sent you 🍇😁🍷🇮🇹
