24/09/2025: Very youthful atmosphere, friendly and helpful staff, and excellent food! Must try!

21/09/2025: Let's start with the name: a fun and perfect idea (for non-Tuscans: chickpea cake appears bright yellow, but it's an extremely humble and popular food, unlike caviar) that adds something positive to the whole thing. The 5e5 was perfect: creamy in the center, slightly crunchy on top and at the edges, delicious, in short. The two girls serving were friendly and very kind. I've marked this place down and will be back.

18/10/2025: A restaurant with refined and meticulously prepared cuisine. The food is well-served and of excellent quality. The friendly and welcoming staff will bring your order beforehand, accompanied by delicious bread and excellent olive oil produced on the island. The prices are in line with the quality of the dishes and the excellent wine.

15/10/2025: By far the best restaurant on Elba so far. The food is excellent and always freshly prepared, and the service and kitchen staff are extremely friendly!

10/11/2025: If you find yourself in Livorno and are struck by a hunger pang, look no further than "Da Gagarin"! Right across from the historic Mercato delle Vettovaglie, in fact, is one of the temples of Livorno's culinary tradition: "Da Gagarin," a historic city cake shop founded way back in 1973 by Salvatore Chiappa, an enterprising Garfagnana who moved to the city of the Four Moors in the late 1950s and who is said to have resembled the famous Soviet cosmonaut. Continued by his heirs, today the legendary shop lovingly preserves the family's culinary tradition, especially the recipe for the dish that made it immortal: chickpea cake (in other parts of Tuscany, better known as "cecina" or "farinata"—synonyms, here, definitely discouraged for parochial reasons!). Don't be put off by the queue outside: the friendly and knowledgeable staff will serve it quickly, and the wait will be worth it! Crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, the chickpea cake, "Da Gagarin," is traditionally baked in a wood-fired oven and served in a round, light-colored bun, which enhances its flavor and makes it suitable for on-the-go street food. It's the "5 e 5," an excellent option (also available with eggplant "sotto pesto," or with garlic, vinegar, and chili pepper) for a quick lunch, a snack, or a moment of priceless insight into life's pleasures! Top tip: pair the "5 e 5" with a nice glass of fresh, light-colored sparkling wine—you'll feel like you're on the Vostok, too! Let yourself go and immerse yourself in the true Tuscany: between memorable flavors and anti-Pisan signs, the guys at the counter will satisfy your hunger promptly and with friendliness, encouraging you to return! Oh, and I almost forgot: the hyper-competitive prices are truly affordable! "Da Gagarin": an example of how to cultivate culture while remaining true to its history!

11/09/2025: This evening, dinner at Al Moro restaurant in Marina di Campo (Elba Island). We had excellent food, quality ingredients cooked to perfection, excellent service, but above all, the desserts were superb. The pastry chef, a young woman with incredible craftsmanship, created unique shapes, like coffee beans, and all the flavors were clearly distinguishable. I must say, 5 stars, fully deserved. We'll be back soon.

05/11/2025: We came here for dinner yesterday and were really impressed. It's a restaurant with an excellent selection of wines and meats. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The owner stopped by to greet each table, a truly respectful gesture. The atmosphere was wonderful, we'll be back soon!

04/11/2025: I don't usually write reviews, and I'm truly sorry to do so for this place, since I follow the owner's son. We were a group of six at Lucca Comics, and table four had the €90 menu. My friend and I decided to have the €75 Florentine steak and two baked potatoes. Only one portion of potatoes arrived, along with a "Florentine," if you can call it that, as part of the meat was missing (if you look at the photo, you can see how one side of the bone was cooked, proving the meat was missing). To be considered a Florentine steak, it must include fillet and sirloin. Ultimately, we would have spent €150 for that piece of meat. I strongly advise against going there.

21/09/2025: Definitely rated their gelato as one of the best I’ve tried in Italy! Pistachio was superb as well as strachiatella. Flavorful and not too sweet. I’d make zabaione less sweet and more alcoholic but I’m comparing it to Argentinian version. Loved the ice cream overall.

12/10/2025: Beautiful location, elegant, welcoming, and very kind staff. Very fast and always attentive. Excellent and tasty food. Excellent wine. Highly recommended. They even offered us a complimentary amaro ;)

12/10/2025: We were greeted with a smile and exquisite kindness by Dani, who guided us with professionalism and cordiality from appetizers to coffee. The food was excellent; I highly recommend their ragù and liver tortelli! In addition to the rustic and welcoming atmosphere, the warmth of the staff made us feel at home.

07/11/2025: I went to this restaurant with family friends. It's a welcoming place. Clean, simple, yet well-maintained. The ingredients are high-quality. I had gnocchi with chopped hazelnuts, scampi, and burrata, which was very good. For the main course, we wanted fish. The owner took us to choose some fish to cook on a TEGOLO at 400 degrees. This is the restaurant's signature dish, and I must say the choice was spot on. The desserts were good. Perhaps I'd add a few more to offer a wider selection, although I must say the owner was very kind. I chose pear sorbet, and he also took me to try a very good chocolate millefeuille. Lastly, he had us taste an excellent sweet sparkling wine called Anarchico Costituzionale. I'd say it paired very well with the desserts.

28/09/2025: Excellent restaurant with mouth-watering food... we ate fried octopus with gazpacho and tuna with caramelized onions... divine dishes, not to mention the sublime desserts... my husband is celiac and ate divinely!! Compliments also for the service and courtesy. We will definitely be back... the Masini family are guests of Sestosenso Suites.

19/09/2025: "We spent too much" is what most people would say. I, on the other hand, say "we paid for what we got." Elegant table settings, all in fabric, refined plates, engraved silver cutlery (replaced with each course). Fantastic lime and pink peppercorn butter; breathtaking red shrimp tartare with stracciatella (or burrata?) foam; aubergine parmigiana elevated to sidereal heights; pavlova worthy of a bow. Add to the excellence of the menu the professionalism and courtesy of the owners and staff.

26/10/2025: A nice, informal place, the service is attentive, and the dishes are well-executed. The wine list is good. The only downside is that the tables for groups are quite noisy. Still, it's worth it.

05/10/2025: Family lunch with kids. Really good food (gluten-free options available), friendly service, and a welcoming atmosphere. Definitely a place we'll be back for!

19/10/2025: How wonderful it is to be able to return to a place at least once a year (I really wish I could go there more often 😅) and be recognized, pampered and spoiled by their dishes and their staff 🤗 everything is truly excellent, every time I would be curious to try other places, but then turn around I can't help but go back to them... they have a menu too delicious and the staff fantastic to give up where you don't feel at home as a welcome guest.

28/09/2025: An experience to forget. The two of us arrived at 12 and asked for an aperitif. The waitress asked the manager if we could sit down. She replied curtly, "It's lunch time now, I need tables." The waitress pointed to a couple of tables; the place was empty, but the manager wouldn't hear of it. We had our aperitif 20 meters up the street, and then lunch 30 meters further up. I feel sorry for them.
