07/11/2025: Today, November 7, 2025, our third day in Palermo, visiting the monuments of this fantastic city, we come across a delicatessen at Via Vittorio Emanuele 389 whose aromas can be felt even in the street. Over the past few days, we've often eaten fish at various restaurants in Mondello and on excursions in the surrounding area (Bagheria, Borgo Porrini, Monreale, etc.), and many other Sicilian specialties. We enter this delicatessen, observing its characteristic tavern-like decor, and meet a gentleman named Amedeo Palermitano DOC, who graciously welcomes us and seats us at a shared table (it's raining outside). The atmosphere is promising, and we're seated right in front of the large counter displaying all the shop's merchandise. Behind the counter, a young Sicilian woman named Teresa practically does everything herself (she actually has the help of a young man who only takes care of the after-dinner service, and her father Anedeo, who, kindly, despite a few aches and pains, delivers things to the tables and attends to the guests' needs). We carefully watch Teresa prepare and order a platter of cured meats and cheeses, along with other small items for the two of us. Amedeo, at our request, recommends the wine, and we order two glasses: a red for me and a white for my wife, both from fine Sicilian wineries. The platter arrives and is truly marvelous: 6 or 7 types of cheese of varying consistencies, from ricotta with citrus sauce to provolone stuffed with olives and chili pepper, through other spicy and not-so-unique cheeses. The cheeses are accompanied by equally varied cured meats, such as mortadella and mortadella with herbs, capocollo, fillet, a unique cooked ham, salami, and prosciutto crudo. In the middle of the platter were some delicious marinated green and black olives and a small plate of eggplant with sauce and celery, honey mushrooms, and sweet and sour marinated pumpkin. My palate was overwhelmed by a variety of original flavors, and the glass of wine enhanced them. I won't deny that I even ate all the bread in the basket. Amedeo is a man with extensive life experience (an overager like me), and with him we talked about the South and our shared dream of seeing a respected, autonomous South, aware of its artistic and historical values, and of people who can foster a sense of belonging. I noticed two of Amedeo's loves: his daughter Teresa, to whom he gazes with paternal love, and Santa Rosalia, whom she jealously guards in a small niche within the restaurant. Teresa, on the other hand, is the hub of the delicatessen, the industrious part of the shop, combining the combinations and intertwining of cured meats and cheeses, as well as small gastronomic dishes of Sicilian delicacies. He's very knowledgeable, even in running this shop, and his passion for this profession shines through. Aside from the culinary delights you shouldn't miss if you're passing through (very close to the cathedral, the royal palace, and the church of San Giuseppe dei Teatini and Santa Caterina—practically at the center of these monumental masterpieces), I had the pleasure of meeting two people of great depth, both in their simplicity and thorough professionalism. For those interested in the god of money, we spent only 20 euros each. Greetings to Teresa and Amedeo. Long live Santa Rosalia.

28/01/2026: We had fettuccine, mixed salad, a variety of fish dishes, and the dessert shown in the photo. They also offered us sardine meatballs with tomato as an appetizer. Everything was very fresh and delicious. Service was friendly and prompt. Quiet location close to the cathedral. Highly recommended.

19/11/2025: An exceptional restaurant in the heart of Palermo. It offers refined cuisine in an intimate and welcoming atmosphere, ideal for a romantic evening or dinner with friends and family. The staff is extremely friendly, helpful, and attentive to every request. The cuisine is an explosion of delicious flavors. I personally enjoyed a tapas tasting and sampled many of their dishes, each one more delicious than the last. Highly recommended.

10/01/2026: This small restaurant doesn't look very nice from the outside, but inside it's a very nice and delicious restaurant, located on a side street off Via Roma. Family-style cooking, friendly, smiling, and polite staff. Very good dishes and excellent prices. - Fresh pasta with red squash, mushrooms, radiccio, and smoked provola - Anelletti alla palermitana Very good.

12/12/2025: Two of us went to Pizzotto with a reservation. As soon as we arrived, they showed us to our table immediately, with courtesy and kindness. They recommended I start with a cocktail, and I chose a Negroni. Without asking, they also offered me a generous portion of potato chips, a much-appreciated treat. We chose two pizzas, one "gourmet" which I highly recommend, with excellent ingredients and plenty of it. My partner chose a simple Margherita with kamut dough (being gluten-intolerant), which was also truly delicious. They even brought her packaged cutlery to avoid cross-contamination. In these cases, attention to detail is very important given the delicate nature of the matter. My compliments! Finally, we rounded out the dinner with an almond parfait, also gluten-free, which was delicious! They even gave us a discount at the end, truly kind. We will definitely be back. Highly recommended, especially for those with gluten intolerances. You will find everything here, completely safe! Thanks again.

13/12/2025: An unforgettable evening at Relais Blu On the recommendation of a local lemon farmer, we went to Relais Blu for dinner—and it was well worth it! Chef Sakai Fumiko conjured up an extraordinary fusion of Japanese and Italian cuisine that completely delighted us. Giovanni made the evening perfect: with great charm and expertise, he explained historical details about the region and the special features of each ingredient, making the meal an unforgettable experience. Highly recommended!

And to finish, almond parfeit... Excellent!! Kindness, courtesy, and cleanliness!! Congratulations... I highly recommend it!

10/01/2026: Really bad experience for 1 January. Total chaotic service, 5 persons ordered, after 1h20min 3 persons got some food, not entirely what ordered, served ad hoc, when it was ready. So 4 of us were watching the one who was eating, all in different time. Asked for salt-pepper-oil cca.6x and never got them. 2 of us went home without eating any food, hungry and angry. Absolutely no communication between staff members, waiters although we spoke a multiple time about our order. Requested to speak with a manager or chef of the kitchen and the answer was to pretend they do not speak English. In the end offered a minor discount on the consumed food. The service all in all: ridiculous and so poor that I would give negative rate if it would be possible. Due to the location the restaurant will always have customers, but listen: the city offers so many other places where the service kind and fast, the food is tasty and the ambient is much more cozy. This osteria is not recommended.

28/10/2025: A very warm welcome, a smiling waiter, and quick service. They changed our wine because there was a problem with the one we were initially served. They didn't charge us for it and even offered us a complimentary digestif.

26/10/2025: The perfect place, a discovery of the 2025 season. Local, seasonal, and top-quality ingredients. The bruschetta tomatoes are aromatic and fragrant, with a touch of good extra virgin olive oil. The mussels are of excellent quality, fresh, perfectly prepared, firm, and not rubbery, with a delicious sauce of their own, seasoned so that the seasonings don't overwhelm their flavor. Next time, I'll ask for a spoon, because it would be a shame to leave such a wonder on the plate! The raw red shrimp from Mazzara del Vallo served with a drizzle of citron sauce and pink peppercorns. A masterpiece! The grilled swordfish is simply divine... The new team, led by Carlo and Mauro, make every effort to ensure guests feel comfortable and satisfied with the service. The atmosphere is friendly and relaxed. I consider this a prime example of how customer service should be. Attentive, kind, and genuine. I will be back, and I highly recommend it!
