01/05/2025: Hmm maybe we were in the wrong one? Mixed meat - schnitzel with fries (which had mud inside), chewing the edges of the bread as a "starter" only with oil (upon request)....OK maybe you had a bad day... culinary low point

18/06/2025: A hidden gem in the city! Bonù is a truly special spot with unique touches in every corner. The atmosphere is warm and tastefully designed, with stylish decor that gives the place a distinct character. We sat outside and enjoyed an aperol in the charming outdoor seating area. The combination of the bar itself, the street, and the surrounding square created a very pleasant and refreshing environment—quite different from the rest of the city. The music was also great and added to the overall vibe. I would definitely recommend this place to any traveler looking for something different and memorable.

16/08/2025: August 16th, 73°F (23°C), and an aperitif with granita in front of the Duomo and Il Litro—what more could you ask for? A generous and tasty aperitif, with one of the best pistachio granitas in Catania. Fast and efficient service. Wide selection of desserts and hot food.

16/08/2025: A very beautiful and centrally located restaurant, with a charming view of Catania Cathedral and the famous Piazza del Duomo with the Elephant Fountain. The atmosphere is pleasant, but the food is nothing special; the experience was average.

30/08/2025: Located in a quaint part of town, perhaps a bit too quaint. Food is good, and it's very cheap, so overall, I'd say it's okay. The meat is tender as promised, and the quality is in line with the price.

30/08/2025: The carbonara had a consistency reminiscent of cat vomit collected from the basement. It was also overly salty and tasteless. What a disaster.

07/08/2025: I don't think I've ever had such a bad experience at a restaurant. Let's start by saying that we weren't supposed to come to this place, but fate decided it this way, having found the restaurant we were originally supposed to go to closed. They say every obstacle is a help. That's not the case here. As soon as we arrived, they sat us down and brought us menus. From that point on, a good half hour passed before we were able to order, with the order taker coming by to take orders from tables that had arrived after us. We finally ordered, and even then, quite a while passed before the appetizer arrived (excellent bruschetta with porcini mushrooms). The only bright spot of the evening. Just before the main courses were brought, we were told that a type of pasta wasn't available. So we ordered another type. When they arrived, we couldn't believe our eyes: out of four plates of pasta, there were maybe two. Truly meager portions. The strange thing, however, was that at the other tables, the portions were more than generous. One of us had ordered a charcuterie board that was supposed to be for two people; a board arrived that was apparently barely enough for one. Amid all this, they forgot to bring a pizza. The waiter immediately apologized and had it delivered. It was already 10:30 PM. We sat down around 8:40 PM. Already somewhat disappointed, we tried to get the attention of one of the two waiters working in our area to bring us the bill. We were unsuccessful, as they were engrossed in a heated discussion about how not to let customers walk all over us. Or so I understood. When we pointed this out to the head waiter, he apologized, took the blame, and finally brought us the bill with a €5 discount. Too bad they added two more covers (€4) and charged us for the pasta, which wasn't available (€1 more than what was actually brought). Moral of the story: a fictitious discount. The icing on the cake: they brought free slices of donut to all the tables. Obviously, nothing for us. They took our last name, inviting us back to make up for it, and greeted us with a "Fozza Catania." Glad the guy was from Catania, but precisely because we're from Catania, we can't make any futtiri. We'll be back. In another life.

07/08/2025: The pizzas and Sicilian specialties are good. Renovated venue. I recommend adding a more extensive menu to the restaurant, with more options, meats, and salads!

18/08/2025: I had an excellent meal at this hidden but beautiful restaurant. Besides the quality of the food, I was pleasantly surprised by the courtesy of the wait staff and the prompt, courteous service. Be aware that on Sundays the menu is fixed.

28/07/2025: Very nice restaurant at a cosy small square. We arrived early (just after 7 pm) to an empty place, but it got packed very quickly. All of a sudden, a lot of staff appeared and thanks to that, the service was fast. They care about their guest well. We had some historic pizza - one with goat cheese and one with salmon. Interesting and tasty toppings you don't see often. On top of that, they had nice, soft and cheap house wine. We will come again.

09/05/2025: Posto molto accogliente, proprietari simpatici e gentili, ben posizionato in centro nella bellissima Nicolosi, porta dell’Etna. Abbiamo iniziato con una zuppa di fave fresche, finocchietto selvatico e ricotta salata, accompagnata da crostini di pane! Una delizia per il palato, abbiamo ritrovato sapori e profumi di una volta! Abbiamo poi continuato con una carrellata di delizie (polpettine di verdure di campo, di ricotta, di patate, melanzane, carciofi, cavolfiore affogato, …) . Potevamo infine rinunciare al dolce? Questa sera assaggi di due torte magnifiche e profitterol , il tutto annaffiato da due liquorini (ciliegia e carrube). Ovviamente buon vino locale per accompagnare il cibo! Una serata magnifica, da ripetere!!! Lo raccomando a chi vuole rigustare i sapori buoni e genuini di una volta.

27/01/2025: The food is great, but it's very expensive compared to the past. They never give you a receipt, but tell you the total directly, so it's impossible to understand the prices of the various courses and what's worth it or not! Convenient for seating, but remember that it's still a deli, not a restaurant.

20/01/2025: Il locale non è grandissimo, ma sfruttato al massimo, per un pasto al volo è perfetto. Accoglienza fantastica, come in famiglia, ma quello che mi ha sorpreso davvero è la varietà delle portate (anche opzioni vegetariane), nonché della qualità, tutto fresco. Assolutamente consigliato.

26/08/2025: I don't think it's a good place to try typical Sicilian cuisine because the frying is heavy and the batter is like an oil sponge. The result? Nausea upon waking up. Paying for something and then feeling sick is, I think, annoying. In my personal opinion, the chef's supervision is lacking...the guys in the kitchen certainly do their best, but their dedication and commitment might not be enough given the results.
