23/04/2025: Nice location, organized staff, cleanliness ok. Easter lunch experience, good, simple dishes without too many reasons, small quantity, without the possibility of an encore. Disappointing second course (pieces of meat in sauce, very similar to the dishes served at soup kitchens) and dessert (if you can call it dessert, colomba stuffed with cream or similar). Only two appetizers served, traditional dishes revisited, overall good, but much more was expected. Good first courses Coffee bitters service not efficient since they had to be taken at the bar counter with lots of queues and pushes, better if it was with table service. In my opinion the bill was exaggerated compared to what was consumed (45 euros).

04/06/2025: Das Essen war sehr gut, auch für Menschen wie mich, die keinen Fisch mögen bietet das Restaurant eine gewisse Auswahl. Da wir am Tag der Republik dort waren, war der Service zwar gut aber sie Wartezeit war etwas lang, vor allem als wir bezahlen wollten.

13/06/2025: Locale situato in una laterale di via Etnea, ti regala un po’ di pace sotto un oasi verde di alberi. Servizio gentilissimo a attento. La cosa bella è che il menu è scritto a lavagna e cambia anche dal pranzo alla cena in base alla stagionalità e disponibilità della cucina. Cibo buono ma non eccezionale, quelli che per intenderci ti ricordi per tutta la vita, ma in ogni caso lo super sponsorizzo!

06/05/2025: Absolutely loved my stay here—it’s a peaceful, rustic escape in the heart of rural Sicily. The staff are incredibly warm and friendly, and the food is absolutely delicious. It’s a bit off the beaten path (don’t trust Google Maps!), but if you’re looking for an authentic countryside experience, this place is a true gem.

26/05/2025: I waited 8 minutes before anyone spoke to me ... after 10 minutes they sat me down ... no one brought cutlery and napkins ... I had to ask for them later when the food arrived at the table ... the pizzas arrived very early ... and this was the only positive thing ... even if ... it was just a pizza ... no emotion, nothing at all ... below average toppings ... not very tasty ... dough not very "mature" ... in short ... it was not a nightmare ... but not a satisfying experience either ... the staff is kind but unprepared and insufficient ... that is, the service is almost non-existent ... then the veil napkins cannot even be mentioned in a restaurant with menu items of €28 or stuff of €80 per kilo ... in short ... I went there after a lifetime of friends telling me that the food is excellent ... but I can't completely confirm ... we will never go back ... I'm sorry because I thought I would have a different experience and make a fool of myself with the person I brought ... instead ... the menu is unthinkable ... and having had to fall back on pizza ... it went even worse ... too bad ... we expected at least a decent service ... but nothing ... I didn't give zero but it's not my manners to do so ... but I really hope that this review can serve as a stimulus and a spur for future improvement ...

02/06/2025: It was one of the historic bars in Caltagirone, but like the historic center, it seems to have lost its soul and vitality. Only 4 flavors of granita available and not even that good, enough cream for 2 of the 3 granitas... I have never seen a pastry shop that runs out of cream. Kind and helpful staff

Average prices. Recommended The place is a bit small, only takeaway or standing on site. Parking is sometimes not easy.

08/06/2025: I was recommended this place by a local, and went with colleagues. The buffet food was covered in fruitflies. When we ate, we found that some of the items were mouldy. We mentioned this to the waiters, they apologised, before arguing that this was not mould, and actually charged us *more* than we had been quoted. The barbequed meats were also undercooked, including pork chops which ran with red juices when served. When we complained about our overcharge on the buffet food we were surrounded by all the staff in an aggressive manner and forced to pay. This was the worst experience I've ever had in a restaurant. Tldr: Stay away if you don't want food poisoning, being overcharged or threatened.

08/06/2025: One star is generous. We came here excitedly having been recommended by a Catanian local. The staff were inattentive and dishonest. The wine glasses arrived filthy, with lipstick stains from previous guests. The plates and glasses are kept in an uncovered shelving unit on the roadside. The buffet, (which we were told cost 5€ per head, per plate) was covered in fruit flies and my friend bit into a pastry to find it filled with the mould. The waiter apologised and quickly took it away. When the meats arrived, the pork was uncooked. This is not a matter of taste or opinion - there was blood running from it. This is an actual food safety violation and poses a serious threat to health. This was a similar tale for the lamb. Not wanting to risk severe food poisoning, we were all put off our meals and asked for the bill. On receiving the bill, we found we had been charged 9€ for two buffet plates claiming two of our party had “overfilled” their plate - this was not communicated to us to be a rule nor extra charge. When we refused to pay for the buffet food (due to mould and flies) we were surrounded at the table by all staff and shouted at and threatened aggressively, and told it was not mould but ricotta. The staff then claimed they had watched us on the cameras and because of this they knew we had had a “big” buffet plate- which we simply had not. We went inside to pay, and staff (& friends???) blocked the door until we had all paid the full amount. As a woman, this experience was truly terrifying for me and it induced an anxiety which ruined the rest of my night. This was unfortunately the last night of our Sicilian holiday and it has left a very sour taste. *I cannot urge you enough - do NOT enter or eat at Re Carlo V*

26/05/2025: Nice and spacious room, wonderful bathroom, large and equipped. The parking lot is large and fenced. The staff is friendly and competent. There is an internal restaurant.
