06/04/2026: The service was friendly and pleasant, no complaints there. However, the food was a definite letdown. The pizza was topped with canned vegetables. I've definitely had much better. The spaghetti Bolognese was piping hot and tasted like it had been microwaved. We weren't impressed with the flavor at all. The prices are okay, and the wait time was reasonable. The food didn't all arrive at once, but that wasn't a deal-breaker for me. It was quite amusing when a waiter, presumably the owner, turned on the TV. It wasn't sports, but a quiz show, and it was quite loud, which bothered some of the other guests. After about ten minutes, another waitress turned the TV off and reprimanded him. Perhaps we were just unlucky, as there are also some good reviews. Overall, it wasn't a good experience for us. The price was okay, but the quality wasn't. We won't be back.

27/04/2026: This is a historic place, always a regular visitor since I was a kid, when good old Moro was there. Unfortunately, after several years, I have to say things have gotten a bit out of hand. Prices, I'd say, need to be reconsidered, just like the service—this isn't Cortina.

10/04/2026: Refined and exquisite dishes and a fabulous location. Great credit to the highly trained and efficient staff, especially the maitre d' who served us.

27/10/2025: Had dinner our first evening in Baveno…we were staying at the Hotel Dino for a conference. My daughter and I didn’t have high expectations but were rather prioritizing the convenience! We were pleasantly surprised. We were warmly greeted and had immediate service. It was quiet as it was early by European dining standards at 7pm but over the course of our dinner filled in. We had an attentive and yummy experience. We ended the evening with their delicious tiramisu…we would return our final evening to have this dessert again!

08/03/2026: I booked ahead because I knew I'd be there that day, and the lady was kind enough. Then, the same day, due to my delay on my return journey, I called the restaurant again to ask if I could wait an hour longer than I had booked. They also promptly said no problem. Kudos to you for your patience. We sat down, ordered, and what can I say? The dishes were plentiful and the prices were excellent. The polenta was exceptional, so much so that I complimented the owner. "The polenta tasted like polenta." You could tell it was made over a wood fire! The desserts were also very good. I'll definitely be back.

14/02/2026: The atmosphere and staff in the dining room were welcoming, but we had some dissatisfaction with the food: the soup of the day, the cheese board with bread, and the veal stew were all very good, but the polenta was lousy and the buckwheat cake with blueberry jam was awful. What was unacceptable was that when I asked how it went, I complained about the cake, and the owner explained that it was for celiacs and lactose intolerants! Aside from the fact that it wasn't written on the menu, but you can't think of making a cake for lactose intolerant people and celiacs by simply not using wheat, milk, and butter. I don't think the lady didn't know that there are lactose-free butter and milk for lactose intolerance, and gluten-free products for celiacs. So I felt like she was being mocked, especially because, to cut it short, she said, "Everyone eats it." If the lady can't accept criticism from a customer, it's better if she doesn't ask the customer how it went.

04/10/2025: At Risto Bar Hemingway in Oggebbio, I had a truly delicious pizza, with a light and flavorful crust. The atmosphere is made even more pleasant by the splendid lake view and the always friendly and attentive staff. A welcoming place that I happily recommend to anyone who wants to enjoy good food and an enchanting view of Lake Maggiore.

03/05/2026: Very poor service. The waiters barely speak English, and the menu translations are atrocious. We ordered seafood, and it arrived raw. The menu did NOT state that the seafood was raw. We explained the situation, but they refused to quickly fry the seafood for us. I would not recommend this restaurant, as there are many more, and certainly better, options.

I ordered a side of vegetables, and what arrived was something embarrassing, something that 100% of the time no restaurant would ever dare serve; starting with the choice of cutting the vegetables, such as the zucchini sliced ​​thinly and into rounds. What was still inconceivable was not so much the cutting, but the fact that they were served burnt. The portion, besides being ridiculous, was burnt, and looked like a small plate of burnt leftovers discarded from some other table. A courageous choice, in short, to serve something like that. Speaking of the ribs, however, they were nauseating, bordering on indecency, industrially and excessively smoked, glazed with something so sweet it seemed like an outsider dessert, without even the foresight or finesse that comes from real cooking experience to also use salt and maybe pepper—in short, the basics of cuisine in general around the world. I understand the choice to optimize service, probably by using a CBT with a roner, but in my opinion, meat in a so-called steakhouse should have other qualities and not just be seen as grilled for aesthetic reasons. The meat is therefore juicy, melt-in-the-mouth, but overly sweet and nauseatingly smoked. The staff, from the kitchen to the dining room, is inexperienced, very young, perhaps with no experience or even no training in the sector, especially in the kitchen, I'd say. €75 was a waste of money. Totally in need of revision. The service was distracted and disorganized; the coffees were forgotten and served after 20 minutes. I left and it didn't feel like I'd eaten grilled or barbecued meat. The best part? The potatoes, even if they weren't fried enough, which came in frozen bags, and the arrosticini, even if a little rubbery, probably due to improper defrosting, but at least I was able to taste the grill and, above all, the flavor of the meat. Honestly, it's better to spend a little more at a real steak house or go to any well-known fast food restaurant where you can also save money. On a positive note, the wine is good value for money, but otherwise, it's just not up to par. The food service team lacks a lot of thought and organization. This isn't a chain destined for growth, at least not this place. A piece of advice: improve these things and remove those spicy sauce toppings and sweet glazes from the ribs. Think about something more classic, especially starting to use salt, no spicy sauces or anything else. The meat is the star of the show, not a pastry shop. Leave the sugar to them. Learn to balance the use of sweet glazes. Honey might be better, but it needs to be measured and balanced with salt and maybe some mustard. It felt like eating meat soaked in pure glucose syrup. This is definitely not a steak house. If an American were to accidentally walk in, he'd probably set the place on fire at the very least. This is neither Italian style nor American barbecue, it's a complete joke. The average age target it is aimed at is 16 to 18 year olds with obviously very undemanding and totally immature palates.

We then ordered two plates of tomato gnocchi: delicious, made with fresh tomatoes; the only flaw was the presence of some tomato peels. We continued with the polenta with sausage and mushrooms, very good and a generous portion, and the tagliatelle with mushrooms, also very good and plentiful. We concluded the meal with a delicious apple strudel and a bonet, which was good, although in my opinion slightly overcooked. The staff was friendly. I would just like to offer one piece of advice: the sliced ​​bread should be served separately from the packets of breadsticks. Overall, we ate well.

02/11/2025: Absolutely loved the food. High Quality. However as a tourist we felt less welcome. Also the main course was served while we were still eating our first course. This is just not done. We would like the enjoy the evening and each course!

29/07/2025: Viajando con un grupo de 33 personas, cenamos en este atractivo restaurante anoche. Pasando por el comedor principal hacia atrás hay un comedor al aire libre con plantas y arbustos. El servicio fue rápido y eficiente. Empezamos con una ensalada mixta, que tenía muchos trozos de tomate. Lo siguiente fue muy buen risotto de hongos, y una galette de queso y espinacas. Me hubiera gustado tener algo de guarnición en el plato.

20/07/2025: Certo, non sarà il Grand Hotel Et Des Iles Borromees, ma se cercate un buon alberghetto tranquillo, in pieno centro a Stresa, a 3 minuti a piedi dal lago e dall'imbarcadero, con camere essenziali ma pulitissime e perfettamente insonorizzate con bagno con sanitari rinnovati, e letto supercomodo, il Fiorentino fa per voi. Molto gentili il signor Federico e i suoi collaboratori, pronti a soddisfare ogni necessità; convenzionale, ma con prodotti di qualità dolci e salati (veramente ottime le marmellate) la colazione, con bevande calde espresse direttamente dal bar. Prezzo nella norma. Possibilità di usufruire di un ottimo servizio ristorante (che ho già valutato positivamente in passato).

25/02/2026: Look at this attached receipt and you'll understand why I got a 1☆ rating.....€2 for a SIMPLE 0.50L BOTTLE of natural mineral water, of an unknown brand, for 20 cents at the supermarket....€5 for a simple HOT CHOCOLATE, with sufficient flavor and density.....€2.80 for a ginseng coffee in a large cup, watered down....but we're only in the SUNA-VB square, which although beautiful... ....is NOT Piazza S. Marco in Venice!!.....I don't recommend it.... .......SHAME ON YOU!!

23/02/2026: We ate there on Sunday, February 22nd. It took a very long time before anyone had time to take our order. We ordered lasagna (which was unfortunately cold and therefore didn't taste good) and tagliatelle al ragu (which was tasteless). The price was unjustifiable for both the service and the food!

24/04/2026: They don't know how to organize anything and can't calculate the capacity of the place. The bodyguard was very rude and pushed everyone around, causing several people to fall. I will never go to a party at the Sporting Club again.

19/04/2026: They organized my wedding reception fantastically. The tables with comfortable chairs were set up lakeside with a breathtaking view for aperitifs. Lunch under the gazebo was excellent. The staff were extremely kind and helpful. After the cake cutting lakeside, the venue was transformed into a welcoming ballroom with lights and music, as well as the volume, chosen by us. I would recommend them to anyone looking for a special venue for receptions and parties where the service, food, and price are all top notch. Thank you, Stefano, for making my wedding a fairytale.
