04/07/2025: During my travels along the Sempione state road, to and from Switzerland, a charming place to stop for lunch or dinner is the Osteria del Gallo Nero. The cuisine is delicious, characterized by local, zero-mile products of excellent quality. Last night I stopped for dinner. I shared a platter of cured meats and cheeses from the Ossola valley, absolutely delicious, accompanied by various types of bread, honey and a mandarin compote. To follow I had a deer tartare, seasoned just right, rich and delicate at the same time, superb! Finally, a zabaglione dessert, remarkable and not excessively caloric. The environment is very well-kept and the impeccable service is, at the same time, very friendly and attentive. An experience to do.

04/07/2025: We had lunch for the first time one noon this week. We found a modern building very beautiful architecturally. A very welcoming staff. A very good meal. We will gladly return.

23/06/2025: Sono stato per la prima volta in concomitanza con il raduno vespa Del 22 giugno a calosso ,cibo ottimo e abbondante servizio impeccabile ,durante il pranzo non e mai mancato acqua e vino prezzo buono ..ci tornerò sicuramente, bravi!!!

22/06/2025: Posto incantevole.. abbiamo pranzato in terrazza con vista sulle vigne accompagnata da un venticello estivo piacevole.. “Elodie” è stata molto professionale e simpatica.. abbiamo preso menu degustazione.. buonissimo, 35 euro a persona. Complimenti, continuate così!

30/07/2025: A trattoria serving home-style cuisine with outdoor seating. Generous, well-cooked dishes are served with a fixed menu offering excellent value. The staff are very friendly and hardworking. Highly recommended.

28/07/2025: A classic trattoria from days gone by. Simple (and thankfully so...) and authentic food. Excellent atmosphere for a refreshing break (I enjoyed the cool shade even on a very hot day). Prices are staggering. But I'm writing this post primarily to thank the entire staff for their hospitality, kindness, professionalism, and speed. Especially the owner and her young daughter, Michelle, with whom I interacted the most. I'll be back...

16/07/2025: Some local friends took me there, and we had a great time. Excellent service from kind and respectful staff, very good and high-quality food, very characteristic and ideal for those who want to try traditional Piedmontese cuisine and the famous "fritto Piemontese" (prepare your stomachs, there's a lot of it!)

12/08/2025: Perfect stay! There were eight of us, and we had a wonderful time from the very first moment. The rooms were spotless, all air-conditioned, tastefully furnished, and had extremely comfortable beds. The bathrooms were immaculate, with fresh, quality linens. Breakfast was a real treat: plentiful, varied, and with excellent quality products. The staff was extremely kind and always available, ready to meet our every need with a smile. The location is impeccable, perfect for easily getting around and visiting the area. No negatives: a truly worthwhile place to stay. Highly recommended!

19/07/2025: I was recommended to eat here by Ms. Marisa, the owner of the B&B I stayed at. The location was very easy to find and we were greeted by a gentleman whose name I am sorry I don't know. He spoke very good English and the dishes he recommended to us were delicious and the prices were very reasonable.

11/07/2025: An absolutely fantastic osteria! Daniele and his entire team are so welcoming, you immediately feel very welcome and at home! All of the dishes (the ones we tried, and we were there four times this week) are absolutely delicious. The tagliata is divine, the pizzas are amazing, and the service is genuinely friendly and humorous! Daniel himself is so welcoming that you don't really want to leave. We'll definitely be back!

02/08/2025: I don't understand this place: on the one hand, they act super-upscale, but on the other, they're mediocre in quality and not so great in reliability. A glass of wine is a maximum of 1/8 liter and costs €7.50. There's no drinks or wine list. The shrimp meat was dry and smelled of old fish. The meal came with 1.5 crabs, sliced in half. The meat weighed about 5 grams. We had ordered water, among other things, but didn't get it. The pasta came with overcooked and pureed spinach as a side dish. No spices, no herbs, nothing to add flavor (except for the old micro-crabs). On the other hand, my colleague's meal was too salty. The pictures of old stars on the walls are beautiful, but most of them are long dead. The distinguished guests arrived in shorts, which is a no-go for Italians. Strangely, there were some who treated themselves to four courses and several drinks, but then left without paying. We were among the paying customers and had to wait 20 minutes at the checkout. Conclusion: putting little on the plates, serving large glasses with little in them, and charging high prices don't make for Michelin-starred dining. The service and, above all, the craftsmanship also have to be top-notch. I've eaten in Italy many times. This restaurant was by far the worst. It makes you wish you were in the kitchen with an Italian mother, who conjures up world-famous Italian dishes with love and expertise, with those incredible flavors. I find the owner's statement "clothing freedom in Italy" very funny: I've seen fine restaurants in Italy that turned away guests because of their clothing. Then comes the blabber about all the things the restaurant isn't doing and how no one contacted us. Well, no one had time to take care of us, otherwise we could have talked. The wine was entered incorrectly at the cash register, water was billed but not served: it's a good thing that, in principle, the guests are always at fault. I think it's great that there were also satisfied guests: they are welcome to come back.

04/08/2025: This restaurant overlooks Piazza Motta in Orta San Giulio. The staff is very helpful and friendly. Tables are outside and shaded by umbrellas. The menu is varied; I tried the black bun with salmon tartare, stracciatella, and mixed salad...delicious! The char ravioli were also delicious and beautifully plated.

19/07/2025: Wasted potential due to a management focused on cost-cutting. I had lunch at the Sumà restaurant in Poirino on a Saturday in July 2024, chosen for its elegant decor that promises refined cuisine and a high-quality experience. Unfortunately, the good promise crumbled when faced with reality. The most serious flaw: on a scorching day, the air conditioning was off. Eating while sweating, with the windows open and the risk of insects creeping in, completely ruined the atmosphere. Seeing the owner wandering around in shorts was a major blow to the restaurant's classy image. This cost-cutting mentality, at the customer's expense, is also reflected online. The website is far too basic, and instead of an interactive digital menu clearly indicating allergens, they only offer a simple PDF download. This detail, like the air conditioning being off, speaks volumes about the lack of attention paid to those paying the bill. These shortcomings inevitably overshadowed the dishes. I can't say I ate badly, but no dish left a lasting impression, overshadowed by the general discomfort. In conclusion, despite its potential, the experience was disappointing. Leaving Turin to encounter such sloppy service, focused on cutting corners at the expense of its customers, is a journey that, honestly, isn't worth making.
