22/07/2026: A Perfect 6 Nights at Hotel Royal Victoria! We just returned from six nights at the Hotel Royal Victoria, and from the moment we arrived to the moment we checked out, everything was perfect. As we drove in, the staff guided us on where to park and even sent a team member along to help us navigate the garage, a small touch that set the tone for the whole stay. The concierge team was fantastic and incredibly informative. They booked us a private boat tour with Alessandro, and it turned out to be the highlight of the entire trip. Alessandro, our skipper, was wonderful and clearly knew the lake inside and out. Special mention goes to Aziz, who worked the bar most evenings. He's the hardest working man at the hotel, remembers everyone's name, and made our pre-dinner drinks a real treat every night. Our room was one of the basic piazza-facing options, and while it didn't have a water view, the views over the piazza were stunning in their own right. The food throughout our stay was excellent, and the pool was kept at the perfect temperature, ideal for relaxing afternoons. The hotel's location is a real advantage: close enough to everything Varenna has to offer, but tucked away from the crowds. Varenna itself is an excellent choice on Lake Como. The restaurants were some of the best we found anywhere on the lake, and once evening comes and the day-trip crowds thin out, the village becomes a truly perfect spot for dinner and a nighttime stroll. We can't recommend the Hotel Royal Victoria highly enough.

07/06/2026: The hotel was beautiful, centrally located, and a truly peaceful place to come back to and enjoy the lake away from the more crowded tourist parts of Varenna. The biggest highlights were the unbeatable view, the best hotel breakfast I’ve ever had (with the aforementioned view), and dinner at the attached Visteria (best meal I’ve ever had). The staff who work at the restaurants and by the pool are incredible - so friendly and helpful. The reception staff were a little less warm and could have been more helpful with shuttle transit upon arrival to Varenna and with securing dinner reservations. Would absolutely recommend staying here.

30/06/2026: Excellent place to enjoy a very good pizza at ridiculously affordable prices. Simple, but very authentic and super tasteful! The staff is exceptionally kind. If ever again in the neighborhood, we will definitely pass by again!

04/08/2026: On a beautiful summer day at 38 degrees Celsius, Bar Manzoni was a godsend...ice-cold drinks and a very tasty Aperol Spritz...with free chips and sandwiches...Molto Bene e Grazie

22/03/2026: Hello What can I say: a WONDERFUL discovery! Everything was perfect, but some might say that's the bare minimum for a 5-star hotel. But it wasn't just any 5-star hotel. The experience was worth far more than that. Let's start with the staff. Having stayed in other 5-star hotels, this staff is by far the BEST I've ever encountered, and I mean it. Their kindness and friendliness are rarely seen in the hotel industry. They take excellent care of you, going above and beyond for even the smallest request. Magical. What might seem complicated becomes incredibly simple to execute. Hats off to them! The food is of exceptional quality and freshness. The breakfast was very generous and excellent, and there's a gourmet restaurant, which we unfortunately didn't have the chance to try. We were lucky enough to be upgraded to a room with a hammam. A bottle of champagne and fruit were provided upon arrival. Simply magical. Rooms were cleaned twice a day. We had a view of the lake and mountains. A huge thank you to all the staff: Tommaso, Valentina, Davide, Ena, and Andrea. I highly recommend this very intimate, human-scale hotel where human connection truly matters. 31/03/2026: The ice cream is delicious, very creamy!!! I'm not giving it a fifth star because, for the price, they could make an effort to put more ice cream in the cups... other ice cream shops charge more!

15/07/2026: We booked a Sunday lunch for five. We were told it was for 1:15 PM. We arrived at 1:30 PM and were seated. We ordered a "mixed appetizer to share," and were advised to order two portions. There wasn't even a slice of cured meats each, and there weren't enough vegetables for everyone. Along with the appetizer, we also ordered first courses, at our request. After finishing the first courses, we asked for second courses, and only then were we informed that the kitchen was closed and that in Brianza the kitchen closes at 2:30 PM. We come from the Merate area. We had dessert and coffee, with complimentary liqueurs, and left, never to return! At the cashier, we were told it was a 50-50 fault because we had arrived late. All they had to do was let us know upon arrival that the kitchen was closing and we would have made arrangements accordingly. Too bad, but we definitely won't be back.

06/08/2026: There are places where you don't just stop for a coffee or a break... you stop because you feel something special. We returned here after two years, and once again, we were won over. In fact, this time we stayed for three days straight, because when you find a place like this, it's natural to want to return. The most beautiful thing was meeting a lady of rare sweetness, kindness, and kindness, one of those people who seem to belong to a time when a smile, a kind word, and a sincere welcome still held immense value. A presence that makes this place even more special. We loved the outdoor garden, with its tables surrounded by greenery: a small corner of tranquility where we can relax and enjoy the moment. Even our big dog was delighted to be able to stay with us in such a beautiful and welcoming environment. It's precisely these details, these simple gestures, and these special people that make the difference. A place that stays in our hearts and where we will definitely return every time we're in the area.

21/07/2026: Avoid! We booked for Sunday lunch with the family after reading completely misleading reviews. A large appetizer for three to share (nothing special), a bottle of still water and a sparkling one, three coffees, and three perch risottos that were literally floating in an inch of butter. No wine. Total €97. When the waitress asked if everything was okay, we pointed out that we had some rice left over because it was floating in melted butter. She thanked us for pointing it out and said she would take it back to the chef. We expected a markup on the final bill (even a symbolic one), just to show their willingness to accommodate the customer, but instead we didn't find even a €1 discount, and the girl at the cashier said we should have reported the problem immediately and that she would change the dishes (making us wait another half hour). Do I really need to be the one to say that the rice is floating in an inch of butter? Didn't the waitress see the dishes when she brought them? If we were her, when the dishes were delivered from the kitchen, we would have refused to bring them to the table. Zero rating. Exorbitant price for little and bad food in a run-down place with improvised waitresses. Never again.

31/07/2026: A comfortable and welcoming family-run retreat. Excellent traditional local cuisine, especially the delicious homemade desserts. The view of the Biandino and Valvarrone valleys is priceless.

10/06/2026: Excellent experience. The restaurant is on the shore of Lake Como, with a beautiful park full of birds from the windows. We had a pizza for four, which was truly excellent. We then shared fried squid and shrimp. The fior di latte and warm raspberry gelato was phenomenal. All the staff who served us were friendly and helpful, but a special thanks to Jasmine for her professionalism and kindness.

09/07/2026: The quality of the food was actually good. However, the service was impersonal and without a smile which made you not feel welcome. It was not because the restaurant was busy because there were only 6 of us. We ordered a starter as a sharing dish, it was served to one person and 1 plate, so you had to move it over, instead of serving the dish on the table with 2 plates.
