06/07/2026: If you're looking for a really good pizza at a great price in Como, Pizzeria La Giara is the place to go. The pizza is excellent, the pasta is also delicious, and everything is freshly prepared. I was particularly impressed by the price: a Margherita for only 4 euros. Such a price is hard to find these days, especially with this quality. The value for money is simply unbeatable. A definite wow, and a clear recommendation for anyone who wants to enjoy good Italian food without breaking the bank!

28/06/2026: I spent a day in Como Carmelata. I spontaneously decided to go to Pizzeria Giara, and it was the best choice. I can highly recommend it. Friendly service, great food. I had a 0.5l glass of wine, a water, the first and second courses, and ice cream. I even met someone from Switzerland, and we had a nice chat.

01/05/2026: After having dinner here, I decided to open a sort of "gourmet" restaurant (small portions and very high prices) in my town. High profits for minimal expenditure... 👍 This place is not for me... ..terrible quality/quantity/price ratio. Two stars for the service and interior.

18/05/2026: We stayed at the family run Albergo Il Vapore for 2 nights and the hospitality we had from Pinuccia and Simone was second to none. The evening dinner at the restaurant we had was so good we ate there 2 nights in a row! The fresh pasta and fish dishes were deliciously prepared by the chef Simone.... make sure to book if eating here as its very popular! Highly recommended!

15/05/2026: Had the absolute best lunch here with my wife during our time in Lake Como. Albergo Il Vapore is everything you hope to find in Italy — authentic, family-run, warm, and completely unforgettable. The setting in the heart of Menaggio is beautiful, but it’s the atmosphere and homemade food that truly make this place special. Every dish tasted like it was made with genuine care and tradition. Fresh pasta, incredible flavors, simple ingredients done perfectly — the kind of meal that reminds you why Italian cuisine is loved around the world. You can feel the passion in every plate. The service was equally wonderful: welcoming, relaxed, and genuinely kind, making us feel more like guests in someone’s home than customers at a restaurant. What we loved most was how authentic everything felt. No tourist traps, no unnecessary fuss — just outstanding food, a charming atmosphere, and a memorable experience shared together. Easily one of the highlights of our entire trip and without question the best lunch we had in Italy. If you’re visiting Menaggio, do yourself a favor and eat here. We’ll be talking about this meal for a very long time.

20/06/2026: Great ambience and service, truly lovely staff. The food was honestly very underwhelming. It was mostly nicely plated dishes but bland. We had a raw dish appetizer with an herb sauce, it was fine, fish was fresh but needed some salt and acid. The pasta in brodo was the star, actually no complaints there. The special of the day was a red snapper with a butter clam sauce and it was quite terrible. Fish was not cooked well, felt like it was out waiting to be taken to the table for too long. The clam butter sauce curdled and didn’t even taste clams. An expensive restaurant that delivers on ambience and service but you would likely have a better meal from a to-go pizza store.

26/06/2026: A place that deserves better... A breathtaking view... a nice place... But... €48 for a steak with no sides... no sauce... A salad ordered separately arrived without any dressing... no salt? No pepper? No oil? No vinaigrette, nor the option to make one. The service was rather amateurish despite the waiter's friendliness... Despite good ingredients, it's still very disappointing... €118 for two cocktails, a glass of wine, two main courses, and an appetizer... The most expensive restaurant we went to in Italy, and the worst... What a shame! But I think with a few adjustments it will be much better!!

25/06/2026: We weren't able to have lunch. There was a row of tables in the shade (reserved or occupied) and a second row in the sun, all empty. We asked if we could move a small table for two people into the shade. The answer was no. We asked if we could eat something on the bench at the entrance. The answer was no. We went to the hotel next door, where we had a great time. On such hot days, I think it's rude not to welcome guests, offering them a moment's relief.

26/07/2026: We stopped in for pizza, pasta, and wine and had a wonderful meal. Everything was delicious, the service was friendly, and the lakeside atmosphere made the experience even better. A great spot in Como.

12/07/2026: My husband and I had the pleasure of dining at the Del Porto. The atmosphere was simply beautiful- right on the lake. The service was excellent and, we learned, the restaurant was just taken over by new ownership /management recently. Every dish was delicious. We had two pasta starters as well as the lakefish and monkfish main courses. I highly recommend a visit!

12/07/2026: Wonderful restaurant with a terrace offering direct lake access. Despite being a hotel restaurant, the food is classy and refined. Highly recommended for both the menu and the location!!!

30/06/2026: Mixed feelings... very pleasant setting, inconsistent cuisine, the fried lake fish was rather bland. The service was curious, sometimes smiling, at other times completely closed off and almost unfriendly. Perhaps I should give it a second chance, but I fear that non-Italian customers might not be very welcome given the language barrier (despite our efforts in French and English).
