23/02/2026: Frankly, the negative reviews for this nostalgic gem of an all-Italian tradition, which is gradually becoming less and less enduring, are incomprehensible. The interior decor and structure are stuck in place for decades, it's true, but the place's charm likely also stems from this. The well-maintained outdoor space, with a (new) structure that allows you to enjoy lunch al fresco even on a sunny day, is well-maintained. The atmosphere is wonderful, with silence broken only by the quacking of ducks and the lake no more than two meters from the table. The cuisine is also traditional, but traditional because it's good, not stale. The lake fish dishes are excellent.

25/12/2025: Maria welcomed us with her partner Simone on the evening of December 22, 2025. Christmas dinner is a quiet time in the area, and we were the only guests. We were pampered by Simone, who explained the entire menu to us and enlivened the evening by chatting with us without ever being intrusive. Above all, we were struck by the delicacy and attention he showed in accommodating and serving the pregnant woman at the table. The food is fantastic: truly sublime crostoni with whitefish, abundant and tasty linguine with whitefish, and delicate and balanced nettle gnocchi. The grilled whitefish was a must-have for the main course. We had such a great time that we returned on the 24th: Simone was busy at his other restaurant, but Maria more than worthyly filled in for him, remembering to treat the pregnant customer in a special way without us having to remind her. A historic restaurant run by genuine people, as well as skilled restaurateurs, with life stories worth listening to and treasured. A heartfelt thank you to Maria and Simone from our family. 08/03/2026: Small restaurant in the center of Tarquinia. The menu features local dishes, including meat and fish options. We chose fish; we weren't particularly impressed with the simple, straightforward presentation. Unfortunately, the seafood appetizer was seasoned with a truly awful oil, which affected the overall outcome. The first course, en papillote, with paccheri and fish sauce, was good. The stuffed squid was good, neither good nor bad. The food was adequate, the staff friendly, and the atmosphere a bit too simple.

21/09/2025: Nice place, excellent food, breakfast/lunch/dinner. We had lunch, tonnarelli sea bass and cherry tomatoes for two, delicious. Two Cokes, one water, homemade ice cream, very fair prices, friendly staff. We'll be back for lunch again today.

21/09/2025: Years have passed, but Gitano remains my favorite place. The little wooden house with its beautiful veranda overlooking the lake still has its charm. From here, you can admire the lake in 360°, a lake that never has the same color, but is always beautiful. This year, the big news: in charge, we have a wonderful staff of 20-year-olds; beautiful, smiling, and extremely courteous. They always keep this place tidy and clean. The food is excellent; my favorite dish is octopus with potatoes. Francesco, our legendary lifeguard, is always there. His strong point? His ability to engage the children and keep their "screaming" parents at bay so they can take a nice nap in the afternoon. Thanks to all the staff, and see you next year. Hugs, Emanuela

01/03/2026: The owner sends you away, kicks you out after an hour and a half, because he tells you he could serve the table even if there are no people waiting. A terrible experience considering the cost. I would add that I was very nice with all the staff and with him himself... I've been there before. We even joked and made some jokes. Now that there are more people and more money in circulation... this happens. The problem is that perhaps he is young and doesn't know how to manage a place. People go out not only to eat... at home I eat for free but also to spend an evening with friends. Whoever owns a restaurant must think not only about money, but also about customers... CHANGE JOB!!!

21/09/2025: Lovely little trattoria right on the shore, beautiful views over lake Bolsena. The food and atmosphere were great. We had two courses with wine and beer for €30 each. The staff were friendly and attentive. Definitely recommend.
