18/08/2026: I visited the Luna Rossa restaurant in Terranova del Pollino to try the €45 tasting menu, and overall, it was a positive experience, although there were a few important caveats. Let's start with the positives: the dishes were numerous, plentiful, and, for the most part, truly delicious. I found several interesting flavors, some of which I was pleasantly surprised by, and others that even surprised me. A special mention definitely goes to the lamb in porchetta, which was probably my favorite dish. The peperone crusco appetizer was also truly wonderful. Considering the price of the tasting menu, the quantity and variety of the dishes are definitely a strong point: for €45, you eat a lot and have the opportunity to sample several local specialties. An honorable mention also goes to the owner, who is truly a host in the truest sense of the word. He walked among the tables, explaining the dishes with a smile, and was extremely kind and helpful. It's a presence that certainly contributes to making the experience more authentic and enjoyable. The wine selection was also very good. We chose one of their own wines, which we found to be good and, more importantly, very reasonably priced. It's a shame, however, that we couldn't eat outside. The outdoor space looked very pleasant, and if we'd known in advance, we probably would have asked for an outdoor table when booking. So, for anyone reading this review who's thinking of going, I recommend inquiring and, if possible, requesting a table outside when booking. But now we come to the main flaw, which unfortunately made itself felt quite a bit: the kitchen's waiting times. The restaurant wasn't completely full and there were several free tables, yet the lunch was extremely long. We arrived around 1:30 PM and were still seated at 4:00 PM, with a fairly long wait between courses. In fact, the last dish, the lamb in porchetta, which turned out to be my favorite, had to be taken away because we were completely full and didn't want to wait any longer. It's a shame, because the quality and quantity of the food, the owner's hospitality, and the value for money are certainly worth highlighting. A significant improvement in the pace of service would make the experience decidedly more enjoyable. In conclusion, despite the wait times, if you're passing through Terranova del Pollino and want to try local cuisine, I think it's still an experience worth having.

15/08/2026: The owner and chef are exceptional, and the dishes are explained carefully and in detail. The food is all good and the flavors are refined. Recommended.
