04/06/2025: We had such a lovely experience here. The chef and his wife are people who personify excellence while being totally warm and gracious -- you will want to hang out with them. The ambiance is charming; quirky in all the best ways. The meal is impeccable from start to finis (especially the opening appetizer tray & the wonderful breads): the only problem is that there is so much food, we were too full to make much of a dent in a gorgeous seafood en croute. It is also very good value for the quality. I regret that we live in San Francisco and cannot become regulars. I would have liked to review in Michelin for the star they so deserve, but there is no option for diner feedback as of yet.

28/05/2025: Premetto che siamo di Genova in vacanza per un fine settimana allungato ed abbiamo scelto di dormire a Montallegro solo per mangiare in questo ristorante. Si tratta di un Ristorante con la “R” maiuscola. Abbiamo avuto la fortuna di conoscere tutta la famiglia e ci siamo trovati come se fossimo dei clienti abitudinari quasi amici. Durante tutta la piacevole serata abbiamo fatto un percorso meraviglioso con un menù degustazione eccellente. Complimenti veramente ad Adriana per la maestria con la quale ci ha raccontato i piatti e complementi allo Chef Damiano per le idee applicate nei piatti. Che dire peccato solo che siamo lontani se no avremmo avuto modo di tornare presto. Grazie della bella serata e grazie per il vostro lavoro.

Vero c'era solo il profumo perche' il pesce invisibile.Secondi : hamburger 3 fettine di patate, q.ta adatta a un bimbo di 5 anni (supermini). insalata russa al profumo di mare. assolutamente da dimenticare. mi spiace mi ero fatta un'altra opinione. molta delusione.

12/07/2025: A place with plenty of covered outdoor space. We were served quickly and well. The pizzas are huge and very good. We were four adults, and no one could finish it. Very reasonably priced. It's not a chic or particularly pretty place, but it's authentic and completely local. Recommended if you want to eat very good pizzas, cheap, and in quantity. They also have pasta, mussels, meat, etc.

29/06/2025: My wife and I found Trattoria Diegolina by chance. After the first dinner we were impressed by the quality of the ingredients, the richness of the flavors of both meat and fish dishes. So much so that we decided to organize a dinner at Diegolina with our families and friends the night before our wedding. A special thanks to Fabio, who, in addition to being extremely kind and friendly, was able to recommend some excellent dishes of the day, including busiate with eggplant pesto and swordfish... exceptional!

29/06/2025: My experience has gotta be the most unluckiest one, both to me and to them because I am going to put it all out there in this review. Read on... First of all, very poor hygiene: there were at least 2 house flies near where we sat and some smaller fruit flies flying around the decor they put: jars of honey or pesto (watch the video). The guy who works there as a receptionist had cut my call on my face saying there was no availability, while I was trying to explain that the reason for the call was something else—about the possibility of getting a cake from outside; and that I had already made a booking. But this dude, who had the patience levels of the size of a fruit fly, had hung up the call on my face while I was talking. Unbelievable. Lastly, when I arrived, I was served a plate that had dried rice stuck onto it, I gave it back, and the waiter—who was very friendly—apologized and got me another one. The stars really aligned on that day for me to have this unpleasant experience, in a restaurant that's otherwise pretty good I believe.

03/07/2025: Spent 2 nights in June 2025. Charming hotel in a great waterfront location. Walking distance to the heart of Ortigia. Short ride to other Siracusa sights. Beautiful layout. Well maintained and clean. Rooms were comfortable and had excellent amenities. Restaurant was excellent. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Highly recommended!

26/06/2025: Issues: Booking, Customer Service I am disappointed to submit this review prior to arriving at the hotel; however, I believe it benefits fellow travelers and families to report our negative experience with Aligilá Ortigia Charme Hotel (AOCH) promptly so that it may help other travelers make decisions.. Our bad experience is related to customer service and the booking process/policies of this hotel. As the name implies, one would expect a certain “charm” from this hotel which is not at all what we received when simply asking to speak to the manager. Without even setting foot in this hotel, first impressions based on our experience with our first contact at this hotel, an employee named Martina, was by no means the customer service expected of a 5- nor 4-star hotel, let alone an even lower level motel. Last week, my wife booked a hotel room through Expedia at AOCH to meet our daughter, who is finishing her study abroad this summer, for a short trip at the end of her studies. The booking was initially made almost a month in advance for just the two of them as we initially had time constraints with several of our family members. As a busy orthopedic surgeon and with a busy family including two kids in college and two kids in high school, my wife and I often juggle plans and schedules to try to plan special trips for us all to travel together. The airline tickets for my wife and daughter were made the week before and I then began the process of attempting to adjust the rest of our schedules to consider the possibility for us all to go. Meanwhile, my wife began the process of searching for places to stay. As with many busy travelers and families, life and decisions often change. Shortly after booking the hotel, our plans changed and we were able to confirm adjustment of our schedules allowing us all to travel and enjoy as a family Sicily and specifically, Ortigia at the recommendation of our daughter who spent time there during her studies. Within hours of booking the hotel, my wife contacted Expedia to notify our change of plans and ask for assistance in requesting a cancellation. We were informed it could take a few days to find out. I called the hotel the same day as the booking and spoke to a night employee (time change). The night employee told me the manager was not available and that we have to go through Expedia to see if we can obtain a cancellation. We received notice from Expedia four days later that “after multiple tries, we weren’t able to obtain approval from AOCH.” Expedia later tried again and Sunday evening we received notification from them that the hotel again denied request for cancellation/refund of the booking since the original booking was non-refundable. I contacted the hotel this Monday to hopefully discuss the situation with a manager and have an opportunity to explain our situation and perhaps obtain an exception/approval for cancellation/refund which is ultimately at the discretion of the hotel. Instead, as mentioned above, I was met on the phone by a front desk person who not only denied us an opportunity to find an reasonable alternative, but also would not allow me to speak to a manager. To deny a customer the opportunity to even discuss a situation with management is very unprofessional and uncompromising. I considered sending this review to the hotel before submitting it to the internet; however, it was made clear to me by the front desk staff that the manager is off limits to help make accommodations/solve problems for their customers and may not even be aware of the apathetic practices of the hotel staff. In summary, based on this first impression, I would recommend that travelers be very wary and cautious when considering to book a reservation at this hotel. Although the original booking was non-refundable, we contacted this hotel within hours of making the reservations. If this merciless approach is a reflection of their customer service, I am doubtful that this hotel will get any more than my current “zero-star” rating after our stay.

13/06/2025: Terzo ristorante provato durante la nostra permanenza sull'isola. Personale garbato e attento. Locale con affaccio sul porto. Anche qui, abbiamo cenato a base di pesce. Grigliata mista cucinata sapientemente e pesce di qualità. Anche i primi meritano, per non parlare dei dessert (davvero eccezionali). Giusto rapporto qualità prezzo. Sicuramente un locale da provare per chi è in vacanza a Lampedusa.

23/06/2025: I found myself in this restaurant intrigued by the well-kept place and the vast display of wines (with prices a little higher than normal). We had an octopus salad, a swordfish caponata and a mixed fried fish. The octopus was well cooked, the caponata didn't thrill me, the fried fish tasted like oil that had already been reused more times than normal with non-fresh mixed fish! We left it. I give one star for two reasons, the first because, I saw the owner who had to make spritz take the ice with his hands after touching something else.. and then if you say that there is something wrong with a dish or you redo it or change it! Helpful staff. But I won't go back.

19/06/2025: Excellent dinner in one of the most typical alleys of old Syracuse. Good service, excellent traditional local dishes and friendly guys coordinating the service. We had some typical antipasti, all very good (especially the eggplant parmigiana) and two first courses. Excellent value for money.

20/06/2025: Pleasant experience in this place, right in the center, discovered almost by chance with a colleague. Friendly staff and excellent food. Summer veranda.

08/06/2025: From the menu it would seem to be a seafood restaurant with affordable prices, but in reality the portions are really small. Fried food limp and tasteless, grilled food really poor. I do not recommend it.

12/07/2025: Extremely disappointing experience. I don't often rate restaurants, I tell myself that one experience is rarely enough to form an opinion, but in this case we were bitterly disappointed. Lack of taste, unoriginal dishes, simple desserts and service that left much to be desired for a restaurant that calls itself "gourmet". The dishes had nothing to do with the photos we had admired with envy before going there last night.

05/07/2025: A truly refined and memorable experience. During our visit, we enjoyed their beautiful take on Japanese cuisine, prepared with exceptional skill and presented with elegance. Every dish was fresh, balanced, and full of delicate flavors. The atmosphere was relaxed yet sophisticated — perfect for savoring a thoughtful meal. Service was attentive, warm, and professional from start to finish. Highly recommended for anyone who appreciates fine Japanese-inspired cuisine in Palermo.

16/07/2025: Nice place with great wines and good food. It’s a bit pricey but the place + atmosphere is very nice. I don’t think it’s possible to spend less than €50 unless you only order a single plate and a glass of wine.
