29/08/2025: Poor food, they don't know fish. We had fried mixed seafood, calamari, and vegetables, and a chicken sandwich, all frozen and of poor quality. There's no table service, but we paid for everything: the tiles where your food is served, as if you could just take it away, the paper placemats, and the sauces you didn't order. They don't have a bathroom, and I was advised to take my daughter to the bar. There were seven of us and one child, and for the quality and quantity of food, we paid a fortune.

28/08/2025: A typical local restaurant, focusing on traditional Modica and Sicilian dishes. I'm originally from the area and rediscovered the flavors of my youth with potato balls, arancini, and excellent ricotta ravioli with pork stew. The lolli with fava beans and cavati are also excellent. Very fair prices. Recommended if you're passing through Modica!

13/09/2025: My Spanish wife and I have just come back to London from a 5-day trip to Palermo, four of which we ate here at this wonderful family restaurant. I'm glad I saw all the positive reviews before leaving London because we then very sensibly went the first night, leaving plenty of time to return. So, firstly don't be put off by its being off the beaten track behind the cathedral and next to a parking lot; it's all part of the authentic charm. We did go to other good restaurants in Palermo but none could compare with Spano. It really is a family-run restaurant Delightful Angela serving and husband Sergio and son Roberto cooking What a team! The best seafood pasta I've ever had and I'm 64 and have been going to Italy for holidays more than any other country. Simple, unfussy home-cooked sublimely delicious food Huge choice. Served with a smile by Angela. And rare for restaurants anywhere in the world these days: 1:Proper serviettes and not horrible tissues 2:Comfortable seats 3: Really nice bossa nova music at low volume level so you can talk. 4: Clean toilets 5: Real menu you can hold in your hand and not downloadable on your phone (I hate that so much). Don't worry about booking just turn up; Angela will look after you. We're missing Palermo and Spano in particular and we only got home yesterday Can't wait to go back one day

02/09/2025: Excellent dinner in the center of Ortigia, on a charming little street. The red shrimp tartare was excellent and plentiful. The grilled swordfish was superb, as was the grilled calamari, which was excellent (perhaps the portion was small for the price). Overall, a great dinner!

27/07/2025: I'd call it a simple, unpretentious place. I felt like I was eating at a grandmother's house. Perhaps, given the type of place, I would have preferred slightly larger portions and a slightly lower price for the main courses. Among the dishes I tried, I recommend the caponata.

10/07/2025: Cena al tramonto con vista mozzafiato: i tavoli fronte mare rendono l’esperienza già speciale di per sé. La cucina si distingue per l’approccio monoproteico per piatto, con sapori netti e ottimamente bilanciati. Menù degustazione (noi quello da 10 portate), accompagnato da bollicine siciliane. Piatti di carne e pesce tutti centrati. Finale sorprendente: il dessert si compone al momento, davanti al cliente, scegliendo tra vari ingredienti. Esperienza tecnica, elegante e coinvolgente.

30/09/2025: Terrible service! We were completely ignored: they didn't even bring us our dishes or menus. A truly disappointing and disrespectful experience. I will never return to this restaurant.

29/09/2025: Wonderful! Dinner on a Sunday evening. Restaurant opened for our group, special menu, seafood or pasta or lasagna. Everyone raved as to their dishes. Our carbonara was excellent. Our table had charcuterie boards and “local” meatballs, both excellent. The rest of our table had an orecchiette dish which all loved. The other tables of seafood and lasagna were equally impressed. Table wine was great, bread excellent. We had tiramisu and it was excellent. Wonderful time, excellent service. Stopped briefly to talk to owner and they were so nice, especially opening on a Sunday evening for our group. I would recommend to all who are in that area of Milan to visit for a wonderful dining experience

18/08/2025: We had lunch today at this wonderful place! The ingredients were excellent, everything was prepared and cooked with passion. The veal tartar was exquisite. The bread deserves its place too! The pasta with truffles was wonderful. The desserts and ice cream made by them were delicious! The wine list is worth its weight in gold. The prices are fair. Da Andrea is a guarantee.

04/10/2025: I want to start eating again! A riot of flavors and the aroma of... simply fish. Fabulous raw seafood, but also the first and second courses (squid stuffed with caponata), and the desserts...??!! Pistachio parfait, and then... ricotta, pear, and cocoa. The owner is a passionate and very kind guy. A welcome drink of prosecco with potato and octopus meatballs. Highly recommended. Price... well... this one was excellent too.

29/08/2025: We discovered this excellent fish restaurant during an evening stroll. As we walked past, we admired the beautiful platters served outside and decided to enjoy dinner here. We ordered the house menu and various fish dishes and were not disappointed (grilled chicory with spinach, ravioli with lobster sauce and fish ragù, grilled swordfish and fish skewers, pistachio cream and lemon sorbet for dessert). The prices are very good and not overpriced for such cuisine and good service (tablecloth and candlelight included). Thank you for a lovely evening and a definite recommendation for all fish lovers. Located in a lively restaurant and bar area within the beautiful old town of Bologna. P.S. Don't arrive too late, as some fish dishes might be sold out, as the fish doesn't come from the freezer. English-speaking waiters are available.
