27/10/2025: For me, it's always the number one trattoria. It pairs Romagna cuisine with a few specialties like the goulash. The off-menu dishes are also a must-try; the cappellacci with white ragù and citrus flavors are special. The quality is always high and the price is fair. Recommended.

13/11/2025: During a recent family lunch at Locanda Appennino in Predappio, spurred on by the numerous enthusiastic reviews and the restaurant's fame, we settled in with fairly high expectations. Unfortunately, the overall experience didn't live up to its reputation.
Appetizer – the highlight of the lunch:
We started with a mixed cold cuts platter, which proved to be the most convincing dish, along with the main course. Excellent-quality, well-aged cured meats were served with fresh bread and warm piadina. A promising start, but one that lacked continuity in the subsequent courses.
First courses – a complete disappointment:
- The passatelli in brodo were a real disappointment: the broth was overly citrusy, with a lemony flavor so strong that it completely overpowered the flavor of the Parmesan and the broth itself. This unbalanced balance made the dish less than enjoyable.
- The tagliatelle with ragù, a signature dish of Romagna cuisine, was unfortunately unremarkable: the pasta wasn't perfectly cooked and the ragù was flat, flavorless, and lacked the depth one expects from well-crafted traditional cuisine.
Main courses – highlights and shadows:
- The wild boar stew was undoubtedly the highlight of the lunch: tender, well-marinated meat with a rich, fragrant sauce. A meticulous preparation that restored some faith in the restaurant's cuisine.
- The bruciatini, on the other hand, were a misstep: the pancetta was undercooked, with a mushy texture and an unbalanced fatty flavor. The bottom of the plate was a greasy swill, making the meal heavy and unappetizing.
Service and atmosphere:
The staff was courteous but lacked attention to our needs, especially considering the large number of waiters compared to the number of guests in the dining room. The atmosphere is elegant and welcoming, and the noise level was low, encouraging conversation at the table.
Conclusion:
Despite its reputation, our experience at Locanda Appennino was disappointing in several respects. A few well-executed dishes weren't enough to compensate for the serious lapses in style in the kitchen. Two stars reflect a meal that could—and should—have been much better, especially in an area where gastronomic tradition is a source of pride.

We booked because everyone had spoken well of it and indeed the food was amazing, the place was nice and the staff were very kind... but we ended up in a small isolated room in the basement (very characteristic) with a cold and humidity that was really difficult to stay without the duvet on, we ordered and the waitress had to be in the next room otherwise she couldn't get the signal and place the order, ok no problem, when the appetizer arrived I pointed out to the waitress that the humidity and cold were very noticeable, she told me that it was 20° (true but the dehumidifier in the room was working at full capacity making a nice buzz and absolutely not managing to remove all the humidity present in fact there was a lot, a lot, of mold on the stones of the wall) and that it was hot upstairs so the heating system detected the heat and didn't "pump" anymore, ok when my first course arrived I was offered to move upstairs when we served the second courses and I gladly accepted, when my son's first course arrived, 15 minutes later from When my table arrives, we are told that the proposed table will not be freed up 🤷♂️ so we finish eating the first course and decide to have the second courses made in a "cartoccio" and go because in the meantime my wife has already left the restaurant to go and warm up in the car... I pay and leave with my cartoccio and a rather strange experience, good food, slow service but that's okay, I'm in no hurry, but the cold and humidity ruined my lunch

24/11/2025: Unfortunately, I had higher expectations and was a bit disappointed. The first courses aren't bad, but unfortunately, I can't give a positive review of the second courses. The service is a bit disappointing, and the waits are incredibly long. Considering the location isn't exactly convenient or close, I personally wouldn't consider returning.

This restaurant, in the summer, consists of two areas: one inside and one outside.
The service was welcoming, helpful, and well-organized throughout our stay.
Food: We had two meat dishes.
The first was a sliced steak with Cervia salt; in my opinion, there was virtually no salt.
The second was a mixed grill.
The meat was overall not very tender, with some pieces being excessively fatty. The house wine by the glass was good, and the restaurant also offers a good selection of wines, all very interesting in terms of origin and quality.
The price, if I had to evaluate it based on the quality of the food, would say above average.
17/09/2025: The tagliatelle were cooked to perfection, but unfortunately they were flavourless and didn't mix well with the ragù sauce. I was a bit disappointed.

14/12/2025: The grilled food arrived cold and was difficult to cut. The grilled vegetables had too much pepper, and the portions of potatoes, both baked and fried, were very small. It's a shame because I brought friends with me.
08/12/2025: Really large place with plenty of seating, even outside. Very well kept. Very kind and friendly staff. Average first courses. The mixed grill is very good, but the most impressive thing is the size of the portions. A plate of pasta can feed two people.

02/12/2025: A wonderful experience! Antipasti di pinzimonio (with a phenomenal sauce!), fresh sausage, squacquerone giardiniera, prosciutto crudo, piadina, fried polenta, and fried pizza, radicchio and bruciatini; a huge selection of first and second courses (we tried the delicious cotoletta bolognese and mashed potatoes with cotechino), then three dessert trolleys with every type of dessert, TRULY EVERY TYPE, where you can order as many as you want. Price: €55 per person with a bottle of wine, water, and coffee!
Tip: Having a paper menu would perhaps allow you to see all the dishes at a glance and choose at your leisure, but highly recommended!
