01/08/2025: Excellent little restaurant, with a booking absolutely necessary, because the few tables are normally taken a week in advance. The food is local and absolutely scrumptious. The staff-owners are very charming and the prices are rally affordable. We cannot recommend it enough (we’ve gone twice in one week to try the local plates we were interested in!)

25/08/2025: Very large venue. We were there in the summer during the Palio weekend, which is the peak time of year. However, the large outdoor garden is very spacious, and the noise is diffused even when the place is crowded. The tables under the pergola are very dark. The service is fast, but not organized: we were served by four different people, which suggests there's no separate area or dedicated waiter. Unfortunately, the table settings are lacking, and they really need to be changed. It could be improved with very little effort. A plastic tablecloth placed askew, leaving half the table uncovered, is not a good idea. It seems unhygienic, and you don't know where to put your cutlery. It feels like a club/bar, not a restaurant. The first courses were very good. I chose excellent potato gnocchi with pumpkin. My husband had a good lasagna. Next, a chicken with potatoes, which were very dry and floury. The crostini with tomato and burrata was also delicious. I would have expected the bread to be toasted warm like bruschetta but it was served cold and gave the impression of being a bit stale.

There's a choice of sweet and savory options (scrambled eggs, salads, pastries, coffee, juices, cakes, toast, ham, and cheese). A great location, but only for those who don't mind a 15-minute walk to the center.

08/08/2025: Maybe there's even the moon! You know that feeling of satisfaction, which we feel even without any particular reason to be? Well, at Balotarie, it's a bit like this: you feel a profound satisfaction, but here there are reasons. Oh, and how. You arrive via the beautiful roads of Friuli, with their green and harmonious landscapes, and after passing through the village of Loneriacco, you park comfortably at the top of the hill. From there, an enchanting slice of Friuli caresses your gaze, from the mountains to the hills, to the glimpses of the plains. And then the sky, vast. You'd be full by now, but you also know there's room for good things. And the good things arrive, one after another, between appetizer, first course, second course, side dish, and dessert. And they surprise you with their simplicity and goodness, flavors and colors. Without distinction. The already extensive menu is always enriched with daily specials and wines to accompany and enhance the pleasures of the palate. A spacious and welcoming outdoor patio, enlivened by the sounds of voices and the clatter of dishes and glasses in the summer. And everything is complemented by the courtesy and friendliness of the wait staff, Natalia and her colleagues, attentive to guests and ready to intervene promptly but without being intrusive, like the owner who, when it's time to get the bill, a pleasant ritual, delights guests with a grappa or a bitter and pleasant companionship. When you go there, look at the sky. Maybe there's even the moon!

08/08/2025: We had dinner here last night, returning to the Balotarie after several years. We found the atmosphere very relaxing, the food delicious, and the waiters and owner were very friendly and helpful. We'll definitely be back.

07/08/2025: We went here for lunch. Highly recommend it. It's a bit outside of the centre, but we prefer an authentic experience instead of a touristy one. The building is amazing with a lot of rooms At street level and on the first floor. The terrace is only a small part of the restaurant. The service is on point. We started with an Aperol Spritz, the best one we had so far! We are cjarsons and spaghetti vongole. Our 5 year old got spaghetti Ragu, which wasn't on the menu but the waiter suggested it. They have a lot of wine available pet glass, so we asked for the best one to fit our dishes. The pinot nero with the carsjons was a briljant parring. Ate desserts and even got offered a digestive. A well spent lunch break, even more because at the time it was raining. By the time we finished and left the building the sun was out shining again. Keep it up!

21/08/2025: We went here for lunch. The staff were very kind and smiling. The dishes were delicious and well-prepared, with excellent product quality. The atmosphere was comfortable and homey. We'll definitely be back!

01/08/2025: A good place if you're stopping in those parts... a place that rhymes with Friuli (see tomato frico, among their offerings) but whose daily offerings deviate a bit from the traditional ones. Here, for example, you can find "pepper tart with anchovies and buffalo mozzarella" (a perfect dish in my opinion) or for a first course: tonnarelli with squid ink and potatoes... (not a bad portion either). A dish that satisfied me and maybe at the next stop, assuming the conditions achieved so far remain unchanged, capable of snatching another star from me. The interior is very pleasant and inviting; I hope they continue to do so, or at least I hope so. Oh, I forgot, I thought it was implicit, but it's better to describe it: welcoming, attentive, scrupulous management who knows how to make the customer feel at ease. Returning after some time, I found the place as already described in the previous review (if not better), dishes above average in taste and inventiveness at a reasonable price... a place that I would still define (for the decor and a bit of everything) of "contained extravagance"... a must stop if you're in the area.

25/06/2025: We went for lunch for a seventieth birthday, the food was excellent, staff attentive to every request. A large space outside with games for all ages. I will definitely return. Average price 20/30 euros per person

15/06/2025: First aspect to highlight is the dishes that are really excellent. Second consideration on the place that is BEAUTIFUL. Third but not least the attitude of the waiting staff REALLY TO APPLAUSE for empathy, smiles and customer orientation.. ABSOLUTELY TO TRY and TRY AGAIN!!!

13/05/2025: Excelente cocina y una extensa carta de vinos con algunos de los mejores productores. . Estuvimos allí durante la temporada de espárragos y ya que es bien conocido por sus espárragos, fue todo en esos platos. El risotto de espárragos estaba especialmente bueno. Nos sentamos en la terraza que está cuidadosamente diseñado con puertas correderas de vidrio para que en esta noche fresca pudiéramos estar cálidos, pero aún así disfrutar de la vista. Esta fue una de nuestras mejores comidas en esta maravillosa zona de Italia muy conocida por su comida - yo lo describiría como "clásicos bien hechos". El servicio era profesional, no particularmente cálido, pero nada objetable. No es barato, pero los precios son correctos para la calidad. Lo pondría en lo alto de su lista de restaurantes si estás en la zona.
