27/07/2025: We decided to visit La Lanterna based on its strong reviews, but unfortunately, we left disappointed. We ordered three dishes: the trofie al pesto, pansoti con salsa di noci, and grilled vegetables. All three arrived lukewarm or cold, giving the impression they weren’t freshly prepared. The trofie al pesto was decent, though unremarkable — but more concerning, we found what was clearly a fly in the dish (wings and legs intact). When we brought it to our waitress’s attention, she kindly took the plate to the kitchen. She was professional and understanding throughout. However, the dish was returned to us with the explanation — apparently from the chef or manager — that the “fly” was actually an ingredient from the pesto. We initially accepted this, but as the meal went on, it became clear the staff was not being forthright. If it truly wasn’t a fly, why had the “ingredient” been removed before the dish was returned? We chose not to press the issue further, but the way it was handled — offering no solution and brushing aside our concern — felt dismissive. The pansoti con salsa di noci was edible but tasted like it had been made with frozen pasta, was served cold, and lacked depth of flavor. The grilled vegetables were the most enjoyable part of the meal, though again, they arrived cold. While we didn’t enjoy the food, I do want to emphasize that our waitresses were very kind and attentive, and we appreciated their efforts. In all, this visit fell short of expectations. With so many great dining options nearby, I’d recommend looking elsewhere

16/08/2025: We stopped at this bar after a day at the beach in Letojanni, on the recommendation of the owner of the B&B in Taormina where we stayed. We ordered two granitas with two brioches, which proved to be (quite possibly) the best of our entire trip to Sicily. We've tasted granitas from the most famous places on the east coast, and this one wins hands down. A seemingly simple bar, but the granitas are delicious. PS: The brioche is definitely larger than average: soft, fragrant, and warm!

29/08/2025: The staff is very kind and helpful, the atmosphere is welcoming, and the food is excellent. I tried the Sicilian meatballs and caponata — absolutely delicious, with authentic flavors and great attention to detail. A place I highly recommend to anyone visiting Venice!

12/08/2025: Update: Went back two years later and still excellent. After a few visits to Venice, I can confidently say this is the best restaurant in the city. It’s worth the excursion to taste the creations of chef Giorgio. Great food, warm atmosphere. Go. Now. A warm, local place run by chef Giorgio. Welcoming atmosphere, delicious dishes (the eggplant dish has this wonderful robust red sauce) and super friendly owner. Away from the touristy places, Salvmeria is worth making your way to.

13/08/2025: The other night I went to this place with some relatives (it was all decided at the last minute). What can I say, it was really nice. We first had a hot appetizer (even though there were four of us, it was very generous) and then we had a pizza, which I must say was delicious. Very welcoming staff. I recommend it.
