15/02/2026: After waiting 30 minutes to order, we left. We even asked at the counter how to order, since we were sitting outside, but they told us to wait at the table. PS: They spoke German, so they weren't racist as some comments suggest, but simply incapable of managing the place... Incredibly incompetent.

30/01/2026: We just drank coffee and read the newspaper and felt very comfortable! We'll be back!

15/03/2026: A modern refuge with spacious interiors and exteriors, a playground, excellent food, friendly staff, and moderate prices. We were a group of six adults and six children. They brought us books and coloring books for the kids, the service was very fast, and we had a delicious lunch. We left a small tip, and the one coffee we ordered after lunch was also free. Recommended!

05/03/2026: A lovely place to immerse yourself in a rustic, typical Puster Valley atmosphere. Beyond appearances, I can't recommend this place very much. The prices are extremely high for what's on offer, or rather, for the quality of the dishes. A cold cuts platter for two was €26 (perhaps the only thing worth ordering, thanks to the local produce), tagliatelle with game was nothing special (with a supermarket-bought sauce, it could have been even better), and the pork shank was stringy and not one of the best I've ever tasted (cold side dishes were already served). Dinner with an appetizer shared between four and a main course each plus beer (no dessert or coffee) was €140. Draw your own conclusions. I can tell you, from my experience, that I wouldn't go back. You can find better.

19/02/2026: My son and I went to this place for the first time at noon, attracted by the sign advertising arancini and panzerotti. In a place that wasn't exactly crowded, we were immediately greeted with a rude, "Have you decided?!" as if we'd been procrastinating for half an hour. I replied that we were "ready there." My son asked for an arancini. I was told they didn't have any, as if I'd asked for a Chinese dish or a portion of chestnuts. At that point, we both settled on the panzerotti. Still rather rudely, showing little desire to please the customer, I was told that a panzerotto is about 30cm long, almost as if to discourage the request. I said it was fine, as was the 10-15 minutes it took to prepare them. I asked for a "simple" one (tomato and mozzarella) and a more elaborate one. I asked what the filling options were. The counter cook's annoyance grows even more pronounced. At that point, I lose my patience and ask why my simple request was causing such annoyance: I wasn't born in "panzerottoland" and I'm not an expert in the field. The counter cook completely freaks out. We pack up and go eat elsewhere; there's certainly no shortage of competition. However, you don't have to have attended a hotel school to understand that treating customers badly and blowing up like that in front of other customers isn't a good form of publicity. The basics of the job are simply missing.

14/09/2025: Beautiful location in Mals, a bit off the beaten track but with a fantastic view. Delicious selection of cakes and tarts. Meinl coffee specialties and super friendly and welcoming service.

16/09/2025: The service is very prompt but lacks a friendly atmosphere. It's as if speed is the main goal. At lunchtime, it's very noisy and slightly chaotic, not least because there's a line at the cash register in the middle of the dining room. It's a shame, because the dishes are delicious and offer a great price-quality ratio.

23/12/2025: Contrary to the information on the website, the alpine pasture is closed! :( Before our hike, we specifically checked the current opening hours of the Laab Alm several times. The website and numerous advertising boards stated that it was only closed on Mondays. Even the sign right in front of the door indicated this today. There was a light on, and we could hear voices and laughter coming from inside – but the door was locked! Two very friendly, shivering guests were sitting outside on a bench with their own provisions and told us they had knocked, but that cold drinks like beer and water were only available upon urgent request. No food or hot drinks were available. We had brought our own cold water – after the climb in the cold winter air, we had been really looking forward to a hot meal and a warm drink. So, we had no choice but to hike back down the mountain empty-handed. There, we stopped at one of the many very friendly and good restaurants in Deutschnofen, where we warmed up and enjoyed a good meal. We therefore cannot recommend a hike with a stop at the Labalm.

06/03/2026: Poor service, poor organization, and far too long waiting times.

07/01/2026: It gets very crowded and noisy, especially during the ski season, as many school groups are there on their ski trips. It's a relatively good and inexpensive mountain hut with large portions! (One portion of hut macaroni is easily enough for two people.)

18/12/2025: A stunning location: The mountain hut is nestled in the heart of the Dolomites, just a stone's throw from the famous Tre Cime di Lavaredo peaks, at an altitude of approximately 2,200 meters above sea level. The views from the windows, terrace, and surrounding trails are pure gold and the perfect backdrop for Instagram photos. An ideal base for active people: The region offers a multitude of hiking trails of varying difficulty, from easy strolls to challenging trails (the Dolomites are high mountains, so a good level of fitness is essential!). Here, you can hike, backpack, and even birdwatch.

06/11/2025: Nice cabin, lots of people, prices are simply higher, but in the total heat you would give anything for a little water or juice. Part of the classic circuit, so you can stop here or move on.
