25/07/2025: A must-try for anyone seeking an authentic experience. We stumbled upon this place while strolling through the narrow streets of Matera. Traditional cuisine, generous and flavorful. And at the end, we even tasted an excellent amaro liqueur created by the chef.

We were treated to local delicacies, and the waitress told us about the region. The food was excellent, and the whole experience left us in a good mood. The staff speaks fluent English.

But I will remember my stay at Casal Dragone first and foremost for meeting, over an excellent lunch, exceptional and kind people like the estate's owners and their friendly friends and collaborators. 25/07/2025: Locale caratteristico del centro, scavato nella roccia, personale molto gentile e professionale ... il menù presenta i piatti tipici della tradizione lucana con una buona attenzione alla presentazione degli stessi, degni di nota gli strascinati al peperone crusco con crema di ricotta e pomodoro, così come il crostino stracciatella acciughe e peperone crusco, buona anche la tagliata rucola e grana cotta alla brace... conto giusto, consigliato!

10/10/2025: While visiting Matera, we had lunch at this little restaurant. The food was excellent, the staff were very friendly, and the prices were very reasonable. We'll definitely be back.

09/10/2025: We had lunch among the Sassi of Matera in a truly unique setting: outdoor tables overlooking a spectacular view. The menu offers traditional dishes, as well as modern twists, such as cacio e pepe with crusco peppers, cooked with great skill and attention to authentic flavors. The orecchiette with turnip tops, fried breadcrumbs, and crusco peppers, as well as the caponata, were delicious. The service was excellent: the staff were friendly, fast, and very helpful, despite the unusual hours (the kitchen is open until 4 pm!). A relaxing lunch made special by the evocative setting and the quality of both the food and the hospitality. Highly recommended for those who want to experience an authentic experience in the heart of Matera.

30/07/2025: Das Essen war geschmacklich wirklich sehr lecker! Leider war die Portion meiner Nudeln mit Parmesansoße recht klein – nach wenigen Gabeln war der Teller leer, und ich war nicht wirklich satt. Auch der Lachs meiner Freundin kam nur mit einem Mini Salat als Beilage. Für zwei Gericht in dieser Preisklasse (50 €) hätten wir etwas mehr erwartet. Schade, denn geschmacklich war es top.“

13/09/2025: We had lunch as a couple, with a salad and a Matera crouton with mortadella and mozzarella. Everything was good. The service was a plus, as I had ordered the chicken salad with an avocado sauce, but it was spicy. Since I couldn't tolerate spicy food, I told the waitress, who promptly replaced the dish, quickly bringing back the same salad but without the sauce. Recommended!

11/09/2025: We had dinner this evening at this little restaurant overlooking Piazza San Francesco. The food was excellent and plentiful. The owners were truly kind and hospitable. We sampled the local specialties and appreciated this splendid city even more.

02/06/2025: I chose the first one for the type of pasta, but the sauce (sausage and caciocavallo) was phenomenal. Something fantastic. The peperoni cruschi are made on the spot, which is rare in many other places nowadays.

26/07/2025: Bon service, salades italiennes faites avec goût. Bien situé, au calme, avec de bonnes tartines, Plus de goût dans les salades permettait d avoir une note parfaite.

22/07/2025: Posto tranquillissimo perché su una stradina secondaria, ma vicino alla piazza principale di Matera. Eccellente tagliere molto carico di salumi e formaggi. Ottima bruschetta. Proprietario gentilissimo. Prezzi onesti. Consigliatissimo! Soprattutto se volete scappare dai posti turistici.

02/09/2025: The biggest drawback I have is that it's quite hot inside (we went in September, so it'll be even worse in the summer), and they only have a small fan. We had risotto and spaghetti carbonara, which were very good, although what we liked most was the cheesecake; it was spectacular.
