23/01/2026: It's located just outside Foligno, and we would have had a hard time finding it without a GPS. The building itself would hardly be recognizable as a hotel and restaurant were it not for the small sign above the door. A narrow staircase leads first to a small coffee bar, and you wonder if they really serve lunch here. Only after passing the bar and entering the dining room through a narrow passage do you realize it's larger than it appears from the outside. Before we even ordered anything, a plate of bruschetta and a bottle each of still and sparkling water were placed on the table. We didn't see a menu on our first visit; instead, the chef explained verbally what was available that day. However, on our second visit almost two years later, there was a printed menu. The coratella di agnello as a starter was very good, as were the tortellini with truffles. . ... On our second visit to the restaurant, the two of us shared the "Antipasto misto completto" with various cold and warm appetizers, followed by "Faraona in salmì" [deliciously prepared guinea fowl] and "Strapazzo uova al tartuffo" [scrambled eggs with truffles]. We didn't have room for dessert after that, but we gratefully accepted a bitter and a limoncello. We were equally satisfied on our third visit in January 2026, and there's nothing to add to the description above.

13/12/2025: Unfortunately, we all got sick... two separate groups on two different nights left with severe stomach pains. Having said that, although I already consider it serious, I can say that the dishes are talked about way too much, creating a lot of anticipation that isn't found in the actual tasting. There's a lot of effort and it shows, but some important aspects still need to be addressed. There's room for improvement.

23/11/2025: A casual restaurant where you can enjoy excellent food prepared right before your eyes. There are very few tables, which is precisely why the chef prepares food on the spot. The appetizer included cured meats and a delicious marinated pumpkin salad, which paired perfectly with the cured meats. The fennel soup was delicious, and it made us want to try the fettuccine with sausage. Everything was delicious and plentiful. Highly recommended!

20/11/2025: Updating review: After writing my first review of the restaurant, reading their response, and returning for another visit, I decided to post an updated opinion. As mentioned before, a pre-fixed menu had been arranged for our group, although most of us did not know in advance what we were going to eat. First course: Pasta alla Norma. The dish had a good flavor, but in my opinion the absence of ricotta salata—which is a key ingredient in the traditional recipe—was surprising and affected the overall experience. Second course: Grilled meat with vegetables. It was fine, but not particularly memorable, and it isn’t a dish I would return specifically to eat. Dessert: Tiramisu. Since I don’t like tiramisu, I asked if it was possible to have the alternative dessert that had been served to some of my colleagues. I asked precisely because, in their response to my previous review, the restaurant had said that any problem should be communicated so they could look for a solution. For that reason, I was surprised when I was told that another option wasn’t possible, yet afterward the alternative dessert was placed in the middle of the table for everyone to try. In the end, I only ate a very small piece and basically didn’t have dessert. Regarding the atmosphere: We were a large group and the space is quite small, so there wasn’t enough room to be comfortable. Every time someone needed to get up, several people had to stand or move their chairs. Additionally, the service between courses was rather slow. About the flavor of the dishes: While nothing was technically wrong with the food, several dishes lacked the depth or seasoning I personally expected. Flavor is subjective, but this is my honest impression after two visits. This updated review reflects my overall experience after giving the restaurant a second chance. First review:We were a group of 17 with a pre fixed menu. Not tasty at all!

25/01/2026: The gelato is as good as the staff's unfriendly attitude! The prices are ridiculous, especially considering they charge extra for a gluten-free cone! Since there are other equally excellent gelato shops just a few kilometers away that don't charge for it, I'd advise the owners not to take advantage of them. Because, like me, who lives 1 kilometer away and makes many more just to avoid going to theirs, others might do the same.

18/01/2026: I'm giving it two stars only for the courtesy of the waiters and the quality of the ingredients, with the exception of the guinea fowl, which unfortunately wasn't edible. I've never wanted to leave a restaurant so badly. We arrived at 9:00 PM, with a 9:15 PM reservation; they seated us and offered us a sparkling wine aperitif, and so far so good. But as soon as we sat down, an interminable wait began. You could see other customers looking toward the kitchen, hoping their dishes would come out, but to no avail. In the end, with the evening ruined and not even the desire to go for a walk, we decided not to finish the tasting menu because we couldn't wait any longer. We wasted €150 and an entire evening, almost as if we'd paid double, considering the inconvenience we experienced. The staff was young and perhaps inexperienced; even though there were only a few tables, they seemed in complete disarray. I'm sorry, but we won't be returning. Perhaps, given the situation, it would have been appropriate to at least heat up the three dishes we couldn't eat.

30/11/2025: Excellent place, good food and service... we were passing through on our way to Rome by bike and we felt right at home... well done, keep it up and if you want, add the Rossini pizza to your menu... we'll be back.

01/03/2026: We found it by chance and called without knowing. We introduced ourselves and discovered it was a takeaway with an adjoining dining room where they allowed food and drinks. I'd say it was a pleasant surprise. The pizzas were good, the service was good, and the mixed fried foods were also good, although, in our opinion, they'd slightly overcharged us, since we'd first complimented them and then asked for more, so they obviously "ripped us off." I should point out that the second order wasn't listed on the menu because we asked for a specific product (chili pepper and ricotta). But it's just a feeling....still good.

From the decor, the service, the atmosphere, the food, and the history of the place… 🤭 If you're in the center of Foligno and want to take a break from Italian food, then Moon Rise is the place to be. The sushi is unique, the fish super fresh, and each piece is presented with the utmost attention to detail. We loved it so much that my family and I went three times! They have new and used CDs for sale, as well as t-shirts, vinyl records, and memorabilia from your favorite bands. I was able to buy albums from my favorite bands that I couldn't afford when I was a teenager. If you love Asian food, a bohemian atmosphere, and music, you'll definitely be delighted here.

10/08/2025: Friendly and knowledgeable bartender, a wide and varied list of alcoholic and non-alcoholic cocktails, more than decent sushi, and plenty of treats for film and music lovers. What can I say? Five stars!
