As a Level 8 Local Guide, I always strive for the right balance between expectation and reality, and tonight 'Il Re della Pizza' in Gallipoli nailed it. I'd seen Cristian's viral videos, and while he's hilarious and captivating on social media, it's in front of the oven that he shows his true worth.
The pizza is exactly as he describes it: light, easy to digest, and made with top-quality ingredients. It's not just marketing, it's true passion. The atmosphere is pleasant and the service makes you feel at home. If you're in Gallipoli, this is a must-see. Highly recommended!

First of all, it has very convenient parking, which is always a plus 😜 for those coming from Gallipoli or by car.
But it's also very convenient to walk here if you're on vacation like my wife and I and happen to be sleeping nearby.
Comfortable seating, beautiful lighting.
Varied menu.
The sales assistants are very friendly and professional.
Everything is delicious 😋🤩

16/05/2026: We received a very warm welcome. Even though our English was rudimentary and our Italian nonexistent, the staff took an incredible amount of time and patience to understand us and fulfill our wishes.
The sunset during dinner... priceless.
The food itself was incredibly delicious; we had tuna, pasta carbonara, and pasta with pesto alla genovese (or something like that)... We were looked after in a very unobtrusive yet genuinely kind manner, and nothing was lacking. A huge compliment, and we will definitely come back. 🫶🏻

Personally, I found an excellent chicken, well-spiced (but not overpowering), well-fried fries, generous and not at all heavy, and a very pleasant lager beer on tap.
What more could you ask for after a long day at work?
PS...given the beautiful and comprehensive menu, if I had one, I'd go back with the whole family.

Lovely atmosphere, familiar and engaging.
Excellent and plentiful food; you can tell they've taken great care in sourcing seasonal and local products.
The owners are very kind and always available.
Nothing to complain about, definitely worth a try.

06/04/2026: I've reserved another Easter Monday before
writing a review, and I have to say that nothing has changed since last year. The staff is quite rude. The guy who takes reservations, I think, should calm down. I think he should remember that he's dealing with customers, and kindness pays off in every way! The wait was interminable.
The waitress told us 5 minutes and then she arrived, I think.
We waited 45 minutes in line! Perhaps it could be a great place if they could review the staff and wait times.

24/05/2026: I went to meet my friend Bartolo, who owns the accommodation with his sister Teresa. I might seem biased given our friendship, but I'm not. I can assure you that this agriturismo, nestled in the greenery and fragrant Mediterranean scrub, is truly exceptional. I listened to the soothing silence, inhaled the aromas, savored the lovingly prepared breakfast, and appreciated the old underground olive oil mill, a gathering place and a place for enjoyment. Thank you, Bartolo and Teresa, for this enchanting gift you gave to our Salento. Congratulations 👍🔝

Because greetings are important, greetings are part of the welcome and respect shown in a place where someone chooses to go, to consume, and to advertise well... You can make a good pastry shop, but if the OWNER doesn't welcome you, I'll go elsewhere.

20/07/2026: Rude staff. After consuming the ice cream, some of them were biased about us not cleaning it up, telling a third party, "They have to clean it up," and even looking annoyed. Never again. Furthermore, the accumulated dirt was due to the fact that the ice cream was warm, and we didn't provide anything to prevent it.
18/07/2026: When we're in the area, we like to go there for breakfast; the crostata is very, very delicious.
