31/05/2026: I'm writing this review following my experience on the evening of May 30, 2026. My fiancée and I had booked a table for two at 10:00 PM to celebrate our first anniversary. The reservation was made two weeks in advance, on May 18, 2026, at 10:00 PM, the earliest available time of the evening. I want to point this out because, when I made the reservation, I was asked what occasion I was reserving the table for. We arrived at 9:50 PM and immediately encountered a problem: the restaurant's parking lot was completely full. At the direction of someone who seemed to be managing the parking lot, we were asked to leave our car in the service area in front of the restaurant. This forced us to cross the SS114, a situation we personally didn't find particularly convenient or safe. Once we arrived at the restaurant, we were seated at 10:15 PM. We quickly ordered two pizzas, a portion of fries, a glass of red wine, a beer, and a bottle of water. After about 40 minutes, only the drinks and fries arrived. From that point on, a wait began that to call excessive is an understatement: the pizzas never arrived. Throughout the evening, we repeatedly asked the staff about the delay, always receiving the same response: to wait longer. At 11:50 PM, almost two hours after ordering and without receiving our main course, we decided to leave the restaurant and pay only for what we had actually consumed, a total of €25, as stated on the menu. I understand that unforeseen circumstances or particularly busy times can occur, but what was lacking above all was communication. A delay of this magnitude, especially on an important evening for us and booked well in advance, deserved clear explanations, timely updates, and greater attention to the customer. Unfortunately, the evening that was supposed to celebrate a special occasion turned into a long wait that ended without even being able to consume what we had ordered.

31/05/2026: A place to absolutely avoid....we asked for a table outside and they told us that they were all occupied. After 10 minutes, two guys who hadn't booked like us came in and made us sit outside because they knew one of the girls who served the table...but oh well, apart from this, we ate the appetizers without plates and we couldn't ask for it because no one, even if you called, filled you up. Not only that, the hot water "broth" arrived without a cap, but at least they changed that because I blamed myself for calling...the cold square and a piece of rubber, an evening to forget, a place to eliminate

02/06/2026: Very slow service, we waited half an hour for a table for three people, the bathroom was horrible and dirty; it's better to bring a boat to go to the bathroom. We ordered three awful pizzas! The dough was like whole wheat biscuit dough. We tasted the pizzas and immediately left, asking for the bill. I don't recommend it.

27/05/2026: The terrace is lovely, but the food is mediocre to bad, and the service is incredibly slow. It took half an hour for our order to be taken. Then we waited another half hour for the bill before I got up and went inside to get it myself. As a tourist, we constantly felt like second-class guests, since other tables were served much more quickly. The restaurant is in dire need of renovation, and the menus look like they haven't been used in 20 years.

24/09/2025: We organized a wonderful party for about 60 people at Manuja in September 2025 under the new management of Giorgia and her husband. Aside from their kindness and helpfulness, the food was delicious, we had a great time, the place was magical, and the buffet was so good! We had both vegetarians and celiacs, and they were able to accommodate every request. Thank you so much for organizing our pre-wedding!

24/08/2025: Our expectations were a bit disappointing, with pizzas that were unfortunately not good. I can only hope it was just a moment and that everything becomes 5 stars 😜

09/04/2026: We didn't like the dishes we ordered. The prices were 10% higher. I think we could find a better restaurant for a pleasant experience.

06/04/2026: A truly beautiful location for a pizzeria restaurant in the heart of Ortigia in Syracuse. Excellent quality of ingredients and dishes, impeccable service, and extremely friendly and helpful staff. An ideal place to spend a pleasant evening enjoying good food and a warm welcome.

05/05/2026: A truly enjoyable evening at Giarra. A welcoming and informal place, friendly staff, and fast service. I had the pizza with prosciutto, arugula, and shaved parmesan: light, well-leavened dough, a soft, crispy crust. The focaccia with spleen was also a pleasant surprise: flavorful, soft, and well-seasoned. Fair prices and generous portions. I recommend it for a dinner with friends, pizza, and local specialties. I'll gladly return next time I'm in Alessandria della Rocca.

17/05/2026: Unfortunately, we had a bad experience. The fresh fish appetizer, on the "cold" plate, contained smoked carpaccio and boiled shrimp. The hot plate, with fried mixed seafood and mussels, was better. The second course, Sicilian-style swordfish, was even better. Unfortunately, we ordered a bottle of white wine, and despite the heat and our repeated requests for an ice bucket to keep it chilled, it never arrived, leaving us with a €30 charge for a bottle to drink warm, even though there was no one there, just ours and a very few other tables! Truly disappointing service. Very poor value for money.

17/05/2026: We ate well, the menu was varied, mainly featuring freshly caught fish of the day. The service was excellent, the prices reasonable, and the restaurant is very nice, having been converted from a former tuna processing warehouse.

The pizza is truly delicious, with a light and easily digestible dough, and excellent quality toppings. If you go, don't miss the dessert (pizza base, Nutella, ricotta cream, chopped pistachios, and a sprinkling of cinnamon on top)—it's delicious! Incredible value for money. 22/02/2026: I've been to this pizzeria and was really satisfied! The pizza was excellent: light, well-leavened, and easy to digest, with fresh, quality ingredients. Another strong point is definitely the courtesy of the staff: kind, smiling, and always available, they made us feel welcomed from the first moment. The service was fast but unhurried, with just the right amount of customer service. The quality-price ratio is also excellent. I recommend this pizzeria to anyone looking for good food, a pleasant atmosphere, and impeccable service. I'll definitely be back!

01/01/2026: I ordered two simple focaccias; simple things show how little passion they put into their work. The focaccias were extremely dry; I had asked for them to be salted and crumbled before cooking, which was not done.
