I recommend finishing with dessert; we loved the meringue pavlova. Compliments to Mr. Lorenzo's daughter for how she manages the restaurant. I'd also like to add that I found her to be very friendly, as was the rest of the staff. We'll definitely be back.

30/10/2025: I was able to use the catering service at La Lanterna restaurant, all managed by Mrs. Regina, who had proposed herself as a highly prestigious wedding planner. The couple had their rehearsal dinner, which went very well, everything had been decided, or at least we thought so. We arrive at the location where the event was supposed to take place, and find the aperitif in full sun, bowls with melted ice, a few appetizers and a few non-alcoholic appetizers, appetizers served on small plates standing up, some a lot, some nothing, we enter the room, where I must say it was incredibly hot, 33 degrees, we sit at the table, we are served water with an eyedropper by rude and listless waiters, I must say that there was no maître d' to manage everything, it is time for the first courses, very good, but one guest does not like it and asks a waiter for a plate of pasta with oil, he is rudely refused, alleging that the chef refuses to serve this dish at the table, we get to the fish that was supposed to be a sea bream, we were presented with a strange fish, after much insistence, we received the answer it was turbot, all this without informing anyone, I would like to point out that Sea bream and turbot are two different types of fish, so if someone was allergic, it could have been a serious problem. There was a staff member who had to entertain children and adults, and their food was very limited and very late. After lunch, a corner was set up for the liqueurs I had purchased, high-quality liqueurs, placed in the sun, therefore very hot. After insisting, they brought ice, but the chocolate brought for tasting was all melted. When it was time for dessert, the dessert buffet was brought out, also in the sun, and they all melted. Luckily, the cake went well, even though it wasn't given to the staff. Furthermore, coffee and sparkling wine weren't served, clarifying that this hadn't been agreed upon with the bride and groom. Do you think this is possible? Even if it wasn't agreed upon, it's obvious! So my advice: don't hire catering, venues, and other nonsense; for a certain amount of money, hire a nice, classy restaurant and you'll certainly enjoy yourself more.

19/04/2026: We stayed two nights at the Villa Ambra Hotel, adjacent to the restaurant. We dined on Saturday evening, April 18th, and were very lucky to find a table. The restaurant was completely full, but this in no way affected the excellent quality of the food and service. We had an appetizer, two first courses (one of which was made with the day's specialty), a fried fish dish, and a dessert; these courses were accompanied by a glass of local white wine and a bottle of water. The service was precise and attentive, the food excellent, and the fish was very fresh. The dinner cost €80, or €40 per person; I'd say it was more than fair. A special mention goes to the first course of the day: homemade pici with mussel and bottarga carbonara, served with lemon zest. Highly recommended!

04/04/2026: I'd been there before...and I knew what restaurant it was. Over time, they've confirmed their reputation. The meat, tender and deliciously light rib-eye steak. The food is excellent, including the fish, and the restaurant is well-stocked. The wines are up to par, with an excellent cellar and a competent staff. The price is reasonable for what they offer. I'll definitely return.

14/03/2026: Fantastic concept! There's no menu, but rather a seven-course "surprise menu." The owner goes to the market every morning and creates the evening's menu based on what's available. The fish is therefore always served absolutely fresh. We ate there twice during our stay and each time had a completely different menu. Since not everyone can manage seven courses, you're asked before each course whether you'd like to continue or skip it. The bill is then adjusted accordingly. A brilliant idea! The owners were very warm and attentive. The owner himself served some of the courses and even showed us photos of the fish. We'll definitely eat here again on our next visit! 😀

A great chatterbox, he's always ready to share his incredible story, which saw him transition from pastry making to cooking, creating a perfect blend of tradition and innovation. His warm welcome and attention to detail make him a true ambassador for the restaurant. With great charm and passion, he manages to create a warm and welcoming atmosphere, making every customer feel at home, recommending the daily specials and selecting the finest wines. His energy and zest for life are contagious, and made our dinner at San Paolo an unforgettable experience. We ordered: Pappardelle with duck ragù; Paccheri with scorpionfish ragù; Sea bass and red mullet millefeuille; Fresh tuna steak with rosemary on sweet and sour onions; Cheesecake; Apple charlotte, wine, and coffee. We spent €96, which was definitely worth it for the quality of the food and service. We will definitely be back.

The food was excellent, the wine cellar was well-stocked, the ingredients extraordinary, and the atmosphere very refined. Highly recommended. We'll be back.

08/04/2026: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I've been frequenting this restaurant in Livorno for a while, and it's become a go-to place for seafood. The quality is truly excellent, and considering the prices, I think it's unbeatable value. The menu offers a huge variety of both first and second courses, all carefully crafted and always fresh. Don't miss the appetizer: six courses, which vary based on the day's availability, always a pleasant surprise. An added bonus is Davide, the owner: kind, eccentric, a true Livorno native, always with a smile and a quick wit, capable of making you feel at home. My family and I can't live without it anymore, and we return at least once a month. I highly recommend booking well in advance, especially on weekends.
