12/04/2026: I found myself alone in Piombino for work and, intrigued by the reviews, I decided to dine at Taverna dei Boncompagni. The quality of the food (from appetizer to dessert) and the service were superb. The skate and the dry-aged snapper took me back to Japan, the risotto delicious, the yuzu dessert a refreshing finish to cleanse the palate. Simone was a unique host, demonstrating great hospitality and an in-depth knowledge of the ingredients and wines. The #1 restaurant in the area, I recommend everyone to try it!

If we want to find a flaw, but to be picky, the smell from the kitchen goes a bit into the dining room, but without making it a drama.

28/04/2026: After so many glowing reviews about the food, I have to ask: what criteria were used to judge these reviews? I largely agree with the praise for the freshness of the ingredients, as well as the beautifully presented dishes. But the main thing—the taste being just as high-quality as the presentation—was missing. Indeed, the taste of all six dishes didn't live up to the visual appeal. No explosion of flavor, just good average, nothing more. Although everyone in our family usually rates their meals differently, the three of us unfortunately agreed: the dessert was the best thing about the evening. The beautiful presentation didn't overpromise here: the excellent taste was a wonderful end to the evening in a lovely setting right on the beach with a sunset and a patient, friendly waiter. The restaurant is dog-friendly; every dog ​​gets a water bowl. The four stars for the food seem to have been awarded rather generously... which should give one pause for thought at these prices. Furthermore, something else stood out that wasn't quite right: the English menu didn't include any daily specials. So it's best to ask the waiter to bring an Italian menu... or reconsider whether you really want to risk this experiment (ours cost €245 including a €10 tip and a bottle of wine). Good luck!

26/04/2026: The restaurant is located directly on the sea, and from the veranda you can admire a beautiful sunset. The atmosphere is understatedly elegant, the setting is quiet. The table service is punctual and attentive. The waiter knows the dishes and the wine list well and knows how to present them appropriately. The combination of flavors in the dishes is truly original; I particularly remember the aroma of the sea emanating from the spaghetti alla mareggiata. The black garlic linguine with the three shellfish ragù, which however has a tomato base, is very special. The amberjack tataki is served warm with truffle, and the flavor of the fish is particularly enhanced. The only two small imperfections are the cooking of the pasta, which for my taste is too al dente, and the desserts, as I'm not particularly fond of disheveled versions.

09/10/2025: One of the best culinary offerings in Italy: high-quality fish and seafood at a good price. Tired of eating pizza and pasta, we went in search of some seafood. We ordered the following: - Appetizers: grilled octopus, delicious 5/5. - Grilled shrimp burger. Delicious! 5/5 (the fries could be better) - Lobster pasta 5/5. We paid 67 euros.

06/10/2025: I was so interested in this restaurant, the first one to let you scan a menu with your phone! 1. The service was fantastic! And there was no table charge! After we were seated, the waiter explained, "We have dishes not on the menu, like fried anchovies, etc." However, our English wasn't very good, and he didn't quite understand what we were saying. He then used my phone's translation app to type out some of the information for us, patiently explaining his own English issues. 2. The food was excellent! We ordered a fried food platter and a burger, which was more than enough for us. The fried food was even a little greasy after it cooled, so we didn't eat it. The fried food was delicious, so you can be assured! 3. The wine was also excellent! We finished our order with a glass of their house wine, which had a light tannic flavor, grapey aroma, and was very drivable. Highly recommended! (Though I rarely drink red wine or wine in China, so it's a matter of personal preference.) Overall, I highly recommend it!

17/10/2025: For my birthday, I went to dinner at this restaurant. It was a delightful discovery. The place is welcoming and well-maintained. The menu is varied, the dishes are beautifully presented and delicious, especially the pork shank and homemade desserts. The staff is very friendly, helpful, and professional; you can sense great teamwork. A special thanks to Marica, a very lively young woman who gave us excellent advice and looked after us during dinner.

04/04/2026: I went for lunch on Wednesday, and I have to say I ate really well! For my appetizer, I had a creamy leek and potato soup accompanied by calamari and coffee powder; it was delicious. A first course off the menu, shrimp and porcini mushrooms, which Chef Ornella had us try, was divine. For our second course, we had a tagliata for two, perfectly cooked and excellent meat! Compliments to Chef Gabriele, who always pays attention to everything, and compliments to his staff!

07/04/2026: The food and service at this restaurant are like Renaissance art — words simply cannot describe it. The sea bass, tuna, and octopus were all cooked to perfection. The desserts are in a league of their own; the tarts are absolutely divine. The wine selection is incredible, and the service and guidance provided by Yulia was the best experience we’ve had in the city.

21/02/2026: This is an exceptional restaurant! By far, the best dinner we had during our 2 week Italy road trip. Intimate, friendly restaurant with phenomenal food. Husband and wife team - charming Julia, front of house and friendly chef Gabriel was a winning partnership. The fusion cooking, Italian with Asian influence and heavy seafood bias was very welcome in meat heavy Tuscany! The scallops starter was outstanding - beautifully presented and cooked to perfection. Pasta with cuttlefish was simply divine and the sea bass main course was delicious. We really appreciated Julia's wine recommendations, as a sommelier she listened to our preferences and found us a perfect Chianti and gorgeous rosé. This was our favourite dinner in Italy and exceptional value too! Thank you both, we will be back!

We were served excellently; the dining room and kitchen are perfectly coordinated, allowing you to experience the chefs' skills and their vision of cuisine. They also offer refined products, meats with different ages, and even the seafood is highly sought-after. They also served us an excellent fermented tea to pair with a dish. The wine selection is very interesting, and the service was impeccable in both timing and manner. The music playlist was also very pleasant: not the usual trite and hackneyed stuff (the usual sad, impersonal jazz that infests the dining rooms of gourmet restaurants), but a varied playlist geared not only towards the Methuselahs of the moment. Congratulations to everyone.

06/05/2026: A magical and relaxing place. After years of not going to the beach (too sunny, noisy, and crowded), I've started going to the beach again. I happened upon it while looking for a seaside cafe and discovered a unique, very clean and well-kept place. I'd give it 10 stars.
