05/07/2026: Disappointing experience. I ordered seafood pasta, which arrived cold and with the pasta still raw. When the staff asked if everything was okay, we politely addressed the issue without creating any controversy. Instead of receiving a simple apology, what I believe to be the owner arrived, asserting in a rather intimidating manner that it was impossible for the dish to have been served in that condition. We calmly reiterated what had happened, but the way the situation was handled left us more disappointed than the dish itself. At the end of the meal, we were told that they would offer us amaro (bitter liquor) for the inconvenience. Unfortunately, looking at the other tables, we saw that amaro was offered to all customers, so it wasn't a gesture of consideration for the inconvenience. Mistakes can happen in any restaurant. What really makes the difference is how they are handled. In this case, the ability to listen to the customer and recognize a mistake was lacking.

02/07/2026: We discovered this restaurant while we were at the beach, unfortunately (you'll understand why) on our last day in Otranto. It was the best meal we've had since we've been in Puglia (for 8 days), so since we discovered the restaurant for lunch, we've eaten there once more in the evening. First of all, I want to give all the credit and congratulations to the dark-haired, bearded waiter, from July 2, 2026, who served us at both meals, and was very professional, attentive to details and on top of his job. He made us feel very good and certainly deserves all the praise and a raise 😁. The location is right on the beach and offers a wonderful view. The interior looks luxurious, clean and well-kept. The food is very good. For lunch I tried entrecotes with truffle mayonnaise, which were brilliant and made me regret that I don't have at least one more day to eat again. I chose the beef cooked medium well on the waiter's recommendation, so it was perfect. Also, on the waiter's recommendation, I chose a local rose wine, very aromatic and tasty. My partner had gnocchi with pistachios, shrimp and clams, which were also very tasty and a large portion. In the evening we chose to eat sushi, and shrimp tempura. The soy sauce was very good, and the sushi rolls were tasty and aromatic. This time I chose a very good local white wine. Also, the dessert was very good, I had panna cotta and my partner had tiramisu, both very tasty, but here I want to note again the waiter who was very attentive to details and gave us a pleasant surprise. Although the prices were a little higher than in other restaurants (~75€ per meal, with main course + wine + dessert) it was the best restaurant I ate at in all of Puglia.

23/12/2025: My boyfriend and I went to this little restaurant in September. Fantastic place! We spent a bit because we didn't want for anything, but the quality of the food and wine was worth every penny. The fish was incredibly fresh, and they recommended the right wine to pair with the dishes. The staff was very kind and knowledgeable. Excellent customer service! High quality, definitely recommended.

30/06/2026: A sure thing that comes back every summer. A must-visit after a swim in the turquoise waters of Castro Marina, this excellent restaurant is located right next to the entrance to the Zinzulusa Cave. The location is stunningly panoramic, and every table offers a spectacular view of the sparkling sea. The dishes are meticulously presented and truly bursting with flavor. The wait staff is friendly, approachable, and very welcoming. We always return with immense pleasure. See you next time!

02/07/2026: It's a favorite spot for us, and we'll be back again this year. The beach is very large, and the umbrellas are well-spaced (unusual in the area), plus there's plenty of space for restaurants and a very spacious parking lot. During high season, it takes a bit of patience to find a spot, but the managers are very helpful and have always worked hard to find us two adjacent umbrellas every day of the week. In short, our perseverance has been well rewarded ☺️. See you soon.

21/07/2026: July 2026. Our first visit to this place. It was clean, well-kept, and elegant. The staff was professional, polite, and available to offer advice. The owner was attentive and ready to welcome guests in the best possible way. The fish and other ingredients were fresh and well-made. The price was fair. Highly recommended.

12/07/2026: We just left this restaurant, and we couldn't help but review it right away, as it was truly exceptional. Excellent food, extremely friendly staff, and a stunning view. We entered as customers; we left as friends. Our sincere compliments, and see you soon.

06/08/2026: our first meal in puglia and I still remember it to this day. fresh pastas were cooked al dente with fresh seafood cooked to perfection. the mussels were sweet and juicy, the scampi were deliciously soft. portions were extremely generous and we struggled to finish both the free pizza doughballs (bottom left) were served freshly fried and were a delicious starter located outside of old town with street parking right outside seemed to be mostly locals dining when we were there!

05/08/2026: We took a chance and went to this restaurant for dinner which is frequented by locals. The staff was cordial and service was good. We chose to sit outside but it was hot. Food is delicious and portions were big. The lady helped us to pack our leftovers as we could not finish. The seafood mixed platter is recommended for couples to share.

12/07/2026: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ A wonderful surprise: we returned three times! Le Scalette was truly a wonderful discovery this year. We tried this restaurant for the first time and were so pleased we returned three nights during our vacation. And that, I think, says a lot! The location is wonderful, with a stunning view of the sunset over the Maldives of Salento: a truly special setting for a lovely evening. The quality of the dishes was excellent, the service was highly professional, and the quality/price ratio was absolutely excellent. All this was accompanied by extremely kind and always helpful staff. A special shout-out to the guys and Mohammed in the dining room: truly excellent! Proactive, attentive, and able to quickly understand guests and their needs. They handled all our requests promptly and professionally, significantly contributing to making every evening enjoyable. Excellent cuisine, a beautiful location, and above all, people who truly know their job. For us, one of the best surprises of this vacation. Highly recommended! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

12/07/2026: A seafood dinner with friends. The paccheri pasta was delicious, the Ionian mixed fried fish was delicious for the main course, and the chocolate spumone was delicious for dessert. We've been coming to Puglia for four years and never miss dinner at Le Scalelle.

03/05/2026: We ate here on Labor Day (a national holiday in Italy). Because Italians mainly celebrate this day with family and friends around lunchtime, we, along with two other tourist couples, were the only guests in this restaurant. That was a shame for the atmosphere. No Italian family coziness. Anyway, we had a delicious meal! The two waiters were attentive, spoke English, and did their job well (we did have to pour the wine ourselves from the bottle, but that didn't matter). It is a beautiful place with a lovely terrace as well for the warm summer evenings that are sure to come.

19/04/2026: A superb restaurant, which in France would be considered a bistro. It was quiet out of season, the service was very pleasant, the atmosphere was lovely, and the food was delicious.

01/07/2026: Fantastic restaurant where you can choose fresh fish and have it cooked to order! The raw fish is also excellent; definitely worth a visit if you're a fish lover!

25/07/2026: The beach umbrella is very expensive, and by 1 p.m. it’s already in the shade, which doesn’t make much sense. The restaurant also closes at 3 p.m. On the plus side, the water is beautiful, but next time I’ll stick to the large free beach area.

24/07/2026: A truly beautiful beach resort, with friendly and helpful staff, a restaurant with excellent dishes and a variety of food for every taste. Several terraces with umbrellas, easy access to the sea, and clean and fresh restrooms.
