The potato soup, bacon, mussels, prawns, an explosion of flavours, the first courses are always excellent and the grilled food is really, really good... the divine desserts, the cassola and the zabaglione dessert with vermouth from FEAR GOOD CELLAR WITH AN EXCELLENT SAUVIGNON LA BUSE FROM LOF. 16/10/2025: My dear readers, unfortunately, today I won't be able to surprise you, and I'm truly sorry about that! Assuntina restaurant located in Testaccio, Rome, really disappointed me, as so many of you have read my recommendations!! Now over 200,000 and it makes me happy because I remain a suitable critic to tell only the truth! The raw materials, the fish, are fresh, yes, but there is no way that in the heart of Rome they don't know how to cook because the chef is not up to the task!!!! We are in Rome and you have to have Italian cuisine; the prices are disproportionate!!!! The fried cod was light and delicious, the chickpea sauce was a heavy mass, dry and stringy, the fried anchovies were tender but overcooked, and even the fried food needs to be cooked at the right temperatures, and the orange mayonnaise was heavy!!!! We're not there yet! Now comes the best part!!!! The risotto with cream of scampi (worth the trip just for the fresh and giant scampi)! ...Inedible, it tasted only of spiced cream at €25, mind-blowing! The spaghetti with clams had sand in it and the pasta was clumps and salty, the ravioli made by them were rejected because they were too tall, too stuffed, dry and undercooked! The Gewurztraminer wine was good, but an €8 wine can't cost €25 as it wasn't a DOC. I'll post a photo of the wine in question later! And then, dear readers, you know that I come from the sea and on certain things I just can't overlook!!!! When you taste the best, you can't go back and make it worse, and today I found myself truly disappointed, and a piece of advice I give to the owner of the Assuntina restaurant is: modernize the place a bit and hire a good chef, it's all in the kitchen, you need the basics!!!! Compliments to the waiting staff, very attentive, precise and polite, for them a Bell 8 on the report card! And as always, love to all of you! Romina.

15/10/2025: I ordered a risotto with mixed seafood and a small beer. The seafood was stinky especially the mussels. I reported to the waiter but he insisted that it was normal. The napkin was not clean as well (could be a footprint or whatever I don’t know) Not the best seafood you can find in Rome, I don’t think I will come back again.

We started with an impeccable cooked and raw seafood appetizer, meticulously prepared and rich in authentic flavors. The oysters, incredibly fresh and of superb quality, were a true delight. It was all accompanied by a light, fragrant local white wine that perfectly complemented the dishes. For our first course, we chose gnocchi with gorgonzola, creamy, balanced, and truly irresistible—a seemingly simple dish, but executed with great mastery. For our second course, an exceptional salt-baked sea bass: perfectly cooked, precisely cut, and tender, flavorful meat. A dish that captures all the freshness of the sea and the chef's expertise. Heartfelt applause goes to the chef, who showcases each ingredient with balance and sensitivity, and to the owners, who kindly granted us a welcome discount. The value for money is truly exceptional: top-quality dishes at more than fair prices. The service was impeccable. We were looked after by Severina and Loredana, the latter possessing rare professionalism and sophistication: attentive, smiling, helpful, and endowed with a natural elegance that enhances the entire experience. In my opinion, Loredana deserves to work in Michelin-starred establishments. The family-run business is clearly evident, with a warm, welcoming, and authentic atmosphere that makes guests feel at home, despite the high-end setting. In short, Il Grecale is a true gem in Anzio: excellent cuisine, impeccable service, a family atmosphere, and a value for money that's hard to beat. Sincere compliments to the entire staff—and especially the chef—for making our dinner an unforgettable evening. 🌊🍷✨

07/11/2025: An excellent seafood restaurant in Rome; my family and I have been frequenting it for several years, and it's always a guaranteed success. The elegant atmosphere, consistently fresh, top-quality ingredients, homemade pasta, and attentive, meticulous service are the order of the day. The menu also features meat dishes to please everyone, but I highly recommend the seafood. A special mention goes to Antonello, the soul of the restaurant, a true enthusiast, friendly, professional, and always ready to recommend the dish of the day. The restaurant is located near Villa Doria Pamphili, about 750 meters from the Baldo Degli Ubaldi metro station. There is no private parking, and it can often take a while to find a spot on the street.

Excellent service, with attentive staff. Clean bathrooms. Very welcoming atmosphere. The price was not exactly what I was invited for, but it certainly matched the service. Easy parking outside.
