Unfortunately, my experience here was the sole exception. On my mother’s birthday, the director refused to serve us and treated us with utter disdain. It was a deeply humiliating encounter. For an establishment in such a prominent location, the lack of basic courtesy and hospitality is shocking.

15/04/2026: We've been wanting to try this restaurant for a long time, and it was definitely an experience we'll repeat. It's located in a beautiful area of ​​Milan, overlooking the Arco della Pace. The place is very welcoming and well-maintained. The food quality is excellent...I was craving octopus with potatoes, and wow, it was truly one of the best I've eaten here in Milan. The staff is very friendly...there was even one guy who, I think, was on his first day at work, and I want to especially thank him for his professional welcome and for making us feel truly welcome. Congratulations to everyone!

15/01/2026: Attracted by the excellent reviews, we decided to try the Roman cooking class, also because we were tempted by the idea of ​​a final dinner together. The setting is lovely and the atmosphere pleasant, but there were way too many people: more than a true cooking class, it often becomes more like "watching others cook." For the rather high price, I would have expected a more hands-on and engaging experience, not just "throwing a pan every now and then." The tastings were nice, but even here I was expecting something different: a real convivial dinner, as described in the course presentation, and not just small samples. I would suggest dividing the tastings into several dishes, since some people seemed to have come there to feed themselves and didn't give everyone a chance to try the dish. Overall, it was a decent experience, but with expectations decidedly higher than what was actually offered.

On the contrary, it's an extremely positive aspect that translates into a genuineness that's now rare in Milan's more modern and "established" restaurants. The staff is the real added value: welcoming, sincere, and capable of making you feel like a guest, not just a customer. Moving on to the food, I ate truly well. The dishes are a constant surprise: despite the homey feel, the execution is delicate and precise. There's none of the heaviness sometimes associated with traditional cuisine, but rather an attention to detail and a balance of flavors that demonstrate great technical mastery. In short, Novecento is the ideal place for those seeking substance, human warmth, and refined cuisine that doesn't need special effects to impress. I'll definitely be back to experience that perfect blend of nostalgia and high-quality cuisine. Highly recommended!

Two appetizers followed by two very simple first courses (one from the lunch menu and the other, linguine with clams) arrived after a 30-minute wait after we'd finished the appetizers. The POS didn't work, so a receipt was optional. Maybe I'm just unlucky, but it wasn't the best experience.

My only advice: to avoid any issues with the restaurant next door (Casa Lucia), I advise the staff to check with you regarding your reservation. Highly recommended!
