Food was really lovely and setting was incredible. Unfortunately some of the staff seemed a little disinterested, then rather pointedly asked for a tip when we were paying (which we did, but the way it was handled was a little out of keeping with what we’d expect for the calibre of the restaurant).
We were also charged for 2 glasses of expensive champagne rather than the 2 glasses of red wine we’d had. I’d actually asked our waiter for a recommendation on the wine and what he suggested was so lovely that I asked for the name of it so I could try to have it again in the future, but they put off giving this to me several times. I only found out about the charging issue on googling the “wine” on our receipt after we’d left as I wanted to purchase it! Hopefully this was a simple mistake rather than a deliberate overcharging, but the refusal to tell me the name of the wine they’d given us does make me wonder…
Overall lovely food and setting but the service left a lot to be desired and there are numerous restaurants with this quality of food in Matera, so I probably wouldn’t revisit sadly.

We had wanted to dine on the outdoor terrace, but due to bad weather, we ended up dining inside. The kind Mr. Paulo guided us to a window seat. His service was excellent, and he gave us great recommendations for the dishes we wanted, allowing us to have a truly delicious dinner. The cod dish was especially delicious. Mr. Paulo was perfect and kind, offering great recommendations and even saying goodbye in Korean at the end. The food was delicious, and the atmosphere was wonderful; I highly recommend it! 👍👍

No complaints about the food or service. However, the portions were rather small for the normal prices of €20-30. Beware of the €5 cover charge! The dining room has a very unique atmosphere, as it's carved into the rock. I wouldn't necessarily recommend it, but it's not something you'll regret.

There are restaurants that impress you, and then there are places that stay with you. Regiacorte is the latter.
The setting is stunning: rooted in the ancient stone of the Sassi, refined without being precious. The food honours its territory — local ingredients treated with care and intention, every dish earning its place on the plate.
What truly sets it apart is Paolo and his team.
The hospitality was genuine, not performative. We arrived as guests and left feeling like family. So much so that we returned the following morning, not for dinner, but simply for a coffee and the view. That says everything.
If you find yourself in Matera, Regiacorte isn't a suggestion. It's a requirement.
Bravo, Paolo. Bravo.

Perfect place for a rest. Delicious food & wine, very friendly and professional service. We sat outside with the view to the 007 No time to Die place. 👌

The most romantic dinner we've ever experienced. We are so glad that Paolo, the concierge at Pianelle, where we were staying, was able to get us a reservation here. The terrace was not open because it was still low season, but we were seated at a large window overlooking the magical lights of Matera. Our waiter, also named Paolo, provided us with personal and impeccable service, and the chef prepared delicious, authentic, locally-sourced, and beautifully presented cuisine. The wine list was extensive and interesting. It was all reasonably priced, including the wine.
When we were finishing the evening and had asked for other Matera tips, Paolo our waiter personally escorted us to a nearby pizzeria, PiuSud, where we met the chef and enjoyed pizza there during the next two nights. Another very cool cave venue with great pizza!

MAGICAL ATMOSPHERE
I went to this restaurant to celebrate New Year's Eve with my partner and friends.
I must say it was a wonderful experience: the venue was very elegant, the staff were polite and friendly, and the food was well-cooked and carefully presented on the plate.
It's definitely a high-end restaurant, so I'd suggest white gloves for the waiters to further enhance its luxury, and I'd suggest playing some background music during dinner. But these are just suggestions; honestly, I have no complaints, and I'll gladly return.
