24/03/2024: Great wine at a great price, cute location
18/10/2023: We went for lunch on a wet San Gimignano afternoon. What a pleasure it was to be able to enjoy a beautiful lunch. The meat balls and lasagna were our choices washed down with a gorgeous Chianti. The meals were so very delicious. The staff were very friendly and prices very reasonable.

05/10/2023: Very, very disappointed.
The good:
1. A very beautiful restaurant in a lovely setting. Quite a friendly greeting.
The bad:
1. The service was very spotty. The pleasant server took our order but we never saw her again. It was the junior servers the rest of the way even though only 5 tables were occupied.
2. Our first course was delivered to the table less than 5 minutes after we ordered and before the wine (red flag?).
3. Nobody asked if the food was good or if we enjoyed anything. We got a definite impression that they knew the answer and didn’t want to ask (or even visit the table).
The ugly:
1. The Food. Where to start….as a general point the prices were astronomical.
2. Crostini. Very poor quality but very high prices (a theme).
3. Gnocchi- pretty good. The best dish we had, but 30 euros for a small dish of decent gnocchi?
4. Rack of lamb. Dismal. Ordered medium rare, arrived cold and overcooked, essentially inedible. Ate two bites and left the balance. Nobody inquired if I enjoyed it (d’uh).
5. Pasta vongole. Bad. Soo bad. Odd flavour that invited the conclusion that the clams were”off”. Plate wasn’t consumed but (again) no one asked if we enjoyed it.
We were afraid to order dessert due to issues listed above.
Summary: Substandard food with poor service at wildly inflated prices in a beautiful restaurant. I’d humbly suggest you visit the 100’s of Tuscan restaurants in the area that care about the experience of their customers.
24/09/2023: Spent 2 weeks in Italy from Sorrento, Rome, Florence, Venice; this was by far the worst and most expensive meal around. The hotel knows you are trapped and limited for other dining options and overprices their dishes as a result. I can’t remember a more aggravating meal. We had to scarf down the loaves of bread because the food we ordered had no taste. 5 meatballs cost 33 euro; and they were tasteless. The waiter had the audacity to kiss his fingers when describing their bolognese dish. My wife got the dish and it had absolutely no flavor. We had to add salt and grated cheese and it still had no flavor. I was never so appalled by anyone who could gesture so highly towards a specific dish and it end up being so terrible. Nearby Tuscan towns have much cheaper restaurants with some of the best food I ever had. Avoid this restaurant, it’s a trap.

17/08/2024: Lucrano sul turismo. Pensando che i clienti siano tutti pellegrini teutonici o di qualche paese per loro sottosviluppato. Prezzi che non corrispondono alla realtà o prezzi assenti per dare la giusta fregatura. Una focaccia con due pezzi di salame preso da altri panini già pronti 9 euro!!! Focaccia che costerebbe si e no 50 centesimi. Scostanti e maleducati. Il peggio da trovare in un paese così splendido.
03/06/2024: Posto oggettivamente costoso. Inutilmente costoso. Due fette di pane piccole così, due pezzettini di salame toscano e due fettine di pecorino locale sottilissime ( come sottilette) pagate 7 euro. Per fare un confronto di dimensioni il panino di mcdonalds e' enorme. Poi un bicchiere di vino riempito a tre quarti pagato 2,5 euro. Posso oggettivamente da evitare. Come Pienza. Posto incantevole per la vista, tenuto bene, ma artisticamente piccolo e povero. Deluso . Ci sono posti che hanno molto di più e sono molto meno esosi. Esempio Sansepolcro (Ar).

24/12/2023: Tutti molto gentili e simpatici
21/10/2023: Short break during the return journey from Rome and stop in Chiusi where I was lucky enough to meet the owner Mrs Valeria: smiling, kind, you can feel that she loves your business. The tart with cream and black cherries is very good, but the Ricciarelli baked by Mr. Armando are sublime. I have no terms of comparison, having never eaten them, but for me they are top marks. The savory focaccia with cherry tomatoes is also good. I will return to visit Chiusi and taste other specialties from Forno di Armando.

Agriturismo 'A Sena Runcatini

02/08/2024: I'll try to show you in words. A'Sena Runcatini is a blessing. One of those places for which all the usable terminology, for example the adjectives "enchanting" or "heavenly", is completely inadequate and does not give the slightest idea of what it means to reach a sublime and invigorating reality, where you can stop the clocks and cut the telephone wires.
And if once you return to your home you are forced - to the inconvenience of Mr. G - to obsequiously go through the squalor of your daily survival, nothing will be able to erase the fact that for a few days, even if it were just one, you were catapulted where nothing in the kingdom of the living and the dead has more importance. Where you fed on pork and wild boar, on sauces and gravies and every fruit of the earth that is just waiting to become the best friend of your palate, and where you calmed the thirst with a nectar of the Gods that could flow from the cup of Aphrodite.
Keep all the resorts, the equipped beaches, the all inclusive, the sea view and the aperitifs, which I no longer know what to do with. I go to Stefania and Giovanni for the rest of my life.
Ps. last but not least: Edo, our Edo, is at home there. You who read this don't, but they understood.
