22/10/2025: I agree with my previous reviews: dining at Giovanni Cattaneo is always a wonderful surprise! The raw fish appetizer is superbly high-quality and incredibly creative. Other appetizers and first courses are delicious, the meat-based main courses masterfully cooked and harmoniously flavored, and the desserts are classic and perfectly executed. The wine list, featuring many historic vintages of great Italian and international wines, is worth the trip. The service is punctual, courteous, and very professional, but without self-congratulatory rhetoric, which usually conceals ulterior motives. Congratulations to Giovanni and his entire staff!

14/10/2025: The agriturismo's location is hidden, but that makes it a special place. The dishes are very unique but not sophisticated. The prices are above average, but it's worth it.

06/10/2025: A landmark. The salted butter and spectacular appetizers. Osteria Il Camino is located at Via Provinciale 33, Ballabio (LC), not far from the exit of the tunnel that connects the Lario road with the climb to Valsassina—making it the perfect stop for a gourmet meal when heading up into the mountains. The restaurant presents itself as a reimagined traditional mountain restaurant: natural materials, wood and stone, warm walls, a large fireplace that gives the place its name and character, and a spacious dining room that manages to maintain a rustic yet elegant intimacy. In warmer seasons, there's also a terrace for those who prefer to eat al fresco. In short, the atmosphere exudes a sense of familiarity with style: it's not a "rough cabin," but a space where every detail—lighting, materials, table layout—is carefully considered. Il Camino's culinary philosophy is clearly local, featuring mountain dishes, reinterpretations of local classics, and a few forays into lakeside tradition.  The chef (and sommelier) is Pietro Agostani, a young and passionate man who also oversees the restaurant's wine selection.

17/11/2025: A charming location with a fireplace and paneled walls...you feel like you're in the mountains...everything is truly excellent, including the bitters, and the artisanal licorice is truly exquisite. A MUST TRY.

17/07/2025: Excellent restaurant in a mountain setting, with a frequently changing menu and refined dishes at a fair price. A great place to impress friends in a small village in the Grigna hills. We often return to the inn, and never once have we disappointed our expectations. I always recommend it to friends and acquaintances. I'd say it's my favorite restaurant... and no, I won't post photos because the dishes are so beautiful that I'd ruin the surprise. 😉

20/11/2025: Beautiful, newly renovated place. The staff was welcoming, kind, and knowledgeable. We came with friends for pizza, but even though the place was packed, it wasn't chaotic, and the staff was always present and never rushed. Let's get to the most important thing: the food... The pizza was really good, well-seasoned and made with quality ingredients. The selection of beers and desserts was also excellent. We'll definitely be back. Bravo!

13/10/2025: Spectacular terrace overlooking the lake; we went in the evening, and the sunset was truly romantic. We had a delicious misultim appetizer. The rice with perch is made with marinated fish on a white risotto, mostly parmesan. The flavor was very distinctive at first, but by the middle of the serving, we were tired of the rice. We wanted to try something different, but I prefer the classic one with breaded and fried fish because, in my opinion, it tastes better.

20/11/2025: I always eat here for lunch when I'm in Merate. The food is great, fantastic dishes, Lombard cuisine, and everyone is so nice. I highly recommend it! They have the recommended work menu for lunch. 😊👍
