08/10/2025: We were very happy that we stumbled into this restaurant, and that it was open during the siesta time . Very friendly, great atmosphere, the food was very very good. What I love the most- the burger was without the bun. Great!!!! And fried potatoes were absolutely delicious

28/08/2025: Delicious pizza 😍 I love the one with creamy potatoes and sausage! Nice place... unfortunately, however, the last time I was there they made us sit outside. We ate and then asked for something else but they made it clear to us in a very unkind way that it wasn't possible as they had to seat other people waiting (a family)... they had probably booked but had forgotten.... We didn't like this behavior at all... in fact, we won't be back again! The only shame is that we liked the pizza... As for the rest, we will definitely find better elsewhere!

09/10/2025: We took three kinds of focaccia to go. All were very good, even after a few hours they were still quite good. The only thing missing was a bit of salt, but that's just my taste; I'm quite a salt-loving person.

20/10/2025: As soon as we entered the gate, we fell in love with the cleanliness and order of the olive groves overlooking Matera. The location is dreamy, a beautiful masseria. Francesco manages everything impeccably, and his staff is an extension of that. What can we say about the table service: seamless, attentive, and fast. The icing on the cake is the food: sophisticated, high-quality combinations, the perfect blend of tradition and innovation, and excellent ingredients. Highly recommended, we'll definitely be back!

Essence Restaurant, under the guidance of chef Enza Crucinio, is an experience that goes beyond simple cuisine: it is a meeting of elegance, authenticity, and passion. The menu fully reflects the restaurant's name: each dish is designed to enhance the essence of the ingredients, with technique and great sensitivity. Among the dishes we sampled, the "Uovo in giallo" (Yellow Egg) was memorable: creamy pumpkin soup, gorgonzola, crispy bread, hazelnuts, and a soft-centered egg that created an intense and enveloping harmony of flavors. We also had the opportunity to savor several first courses, each with its own distinct character, prepared with care and respect for tradition, but always with a personal touch: flavorful dishes that excite without artifice. To conclude the experience, the "Occhio del Drago" (Dragon's Eye) dessert: a perfect combination of the rusticity of Matera bread, the delicacy of sweet ricotta, and the richness of chocolate. The first time was over 40 years ago, and I've been back every now and then to visit Vito and his family, who admirably run this historic family restaurant with professionalism and tradition. The view of the Maratea sea from the terrace is worth the visit in itself. And the menu, what can I say? TOP.
