01/03/2026: We've dined at this restaurant twice within a couple of months. The food is excellent, the ingredients are carefully selected, and the staff is very friendly. Highly recommended!

22/02/2026: To escape the daily grind, we had lunch out. We chose Caluae because it was just passing through our destination. I was struck by the introduction to their menu, which explains the establishment's origins and management—a lovely detail. I found the place to be clean, which is important, with simple yet elegant tablecloths. The service was very attentive and orderly. The choice of dishes: a mixed cured meats appetizer, a sliced ​​steak, a plate of tortelli stuffed with meat and topped with truffle, a side of potatoes preserved in ash with crusco peppers, a delicious mille-feuille pasta with cream and berries, and a red fruit cheesecake. The food was very good; the only flaw was the portions, a bit small. As the sign at the entrance says, BEYOND TRADITION, you can feel the tradition and also understand that a lot of thought goes into what they prepare.

02/02/2026: Spectacular welcome. Excellent food. I recommend the meat, which is exquisite. In the summer, it should be wonderful with outdoor seating. In the winter, it's cozy and tastefully decorated. The owner's father welcomed us with a smile on his face... perhaps because we were with a dear friend of his? But I don't think so... both he and his son are truly wonderful.

31/01/2026: From the outside, it doesn't look very appealing. It's a bit out of the way, to the point that if they hadn't suggested it to us, we probably wouldn't have even entered. For a moment, we wondered if it was really open and if we should open the door. And finally... fortunately we entered. Inside, the space is beautiful, warm and fits perfectly with Matera. They took us upstairs, where there were already customers, and from there everything went very smoothly. The boy who served us was friendly, relaxed, willing to explain without style, without rushing. The food was what you expect to eat here. Local cuisine, well-cooked, with flavor and substance. Nothing supposedly touristy. The wine was an excellent choice. It was called Akratos, a reference to ancient Greek tradition. The pure, undiluted wine that, according to the ancients, only Dionysus could drink. Strong, full, with character, and perfectly tied to the dishes. And the dessert came at the end simply and properly, without exaggeration, closing the meal beautifully. An experience that stays with you. We would go again without a second thought

15/02/2026: It's the restaurant owned by the owners of our accommodation in Maestri. We only had two appetizers because we have to travel back up north. But the quality of both dishes was exceptional. Not to mention the menu, which is simply heavenly, and which we hope to have other opportunities to try.

15/03/2026: The place looks good. Renovated and well-maintained. In my opinion, the positives stop there: the food and experience weren't up to par. They fed us in 25 minutes, with the appetizer decidedly bland, one of the first courses too salty, and the second course too garlicky. There are definitely better options in Matera.
