31/07/2025: Michelin- Historical menu items, THE best olive oil- VEGAN options! Spectacular service. There is a 10% fee but it covers bread, water, (the amazing olive oil) and treats= worth it. Love this restaurant! And the caprese salad was like no other Ive ever had. What flavors!

02/08/2025: Trattoria Da Gigio is a non-descript and understated restaurant located on a pretty busy street. It doesn't overtly market itself to tourists as it seems to be already frequented by both Italian-speaking customers and random tourist walk-ins based on my lone visit. Their wait staff speak English and were able to take my reservation over the phone. The mixed seafood appetizer was a great introduction to some Venetian classics/specialties. The baked scallop was actually served separately (still bubbling hot) by the chef himself. The pasta dishes came out steaming hot as well and were huge! Each dish can feed one very very hungry person or comfortably feed two people. This place serves food that is delicious, honest, and does seem to be frequented by local or visiting Italians.

02/08/2025: After two days in Venice we came across this amazing restaurant. The manager was outstanding in his greeting and continuous interaction with us and the other patrons. He spoke at least 4 languages while we were eating. The food was outstanding (5 stars) as was the service. Definitely a place to eat and enjoy the atmosphere. Price was very reasonable for 2 courses, appetizers ,salad, 2 desserts and 2 glasses of wine and water.

20/08/2025: A very charming, historic place with a lovely atmosphere, where you can escape the stresses of Venice. Excellent value for money, and impeccable, and above all, very efficient, service. It's hard to eat anywhere without feeling like a tourist in Venice. Recommended for those rushing between Rialto and San Marco.

29/08/2025: Fantastic food, great service. We enjoyed all of our dishes, but the carbonara was the favourite. One of the best spots we tried on our trip. Great spot with a lovely view. Reserve in advance for a table outside.

25/08/2025: I had a fantastic dining experience in Venice right by the canal with a beautiful view! I ordered the antipasto misto di pesce to start – everything was fresh and full of flavor. The risotto ai frutti di mare was perfectly cooked, rich with seafood and just the right texture. For the main course, I had branzino al forno, which was tender and delicious, with a light seasoning that let the fish shine. I finished with a classic tiramisù, and it was the perfect end to the meal – creamy, balanced, and not too sweet. Everything I had was excellent. Highly recommend if you're looking for quality seafood and a lovely Venetian atmosphere! the stuff is very friendly and welcoming , they have a small balcony on the view and the orders are served through the window which is a very nice experience , if you want to sit in the balcony , reservation is a must !

21/07/2025: Made a dinner reservation with the help of a dear friend. We were fully expecting a nice dinner. The gentleman who greeted us was welcoming. Unfortunately, not sure why but our waiter decided to play dumb when I asked for the wine list and pointed me to the house wine at the back of the menu. I was led to believe they only offered different sizes of white or red house wine, until I saw a wine list was provided for another table of 4 automatically. The service left a bad taste in my mouth. Not sure if it was because we didn't order very much (only a primi per person and some house wine because my family doesn't eat much in general) or because I asked for one vegan dish that we were treated differently/poorly, but I would not recommend the restaurant as none of the experience stood out as memorable or something I would want to repeat.

08/07/2025: Very bad service. The waiter was not friendly, very unpolite, didn't listen to us and she got our order wrong. We got our dishes seperately and waited for 3 dishes more than 20 min for three other people. We had to catch the train so we said that we can't wait anymore and if they could give us the bill. The chef started yelling at us that we have to pay for everything even though the waiter made mistake.

25/07/2025: Absolutely fantastic dining experience! The food was beyond amazing—every dish was bursting with flavor and beautifully presented. The waitstaff were exceptional: warm, attentive, and made us feel truly welcomed from start to finish. Even better…. when they are Harley Davidson family. This place perfectly captures the charm and hospitality of Venice. We will definitely be returning!

22/07/2025: Mi marido y yo decidimos planificar un viaje a Italia a última hora basado en un viaje de trabajo. Como el destino quiso, íbamos a estar en Venecia para la Fiesta del Redentor, un gran festival anual veneciano que incluye un espectáculo de fuegos artificiales sobre la Piazza San Marco. Busqué un lugar que tuviera una bonita vista de la azotea de los fuegos artificiales, y La Caravella era muy recomendable. Muy poco después de hacer una reserva, el Dr. Marianna Serandrei (que es un miembro de la familia propietaria y administradora del restaurante desde 1963 , y del hotel Saturnia desde 1908) se comunicó para asegurarme de que tenía clara la cena y para asegurarme de que quería reservar un lugar para la azotea. Ella fue increíblemente paciente tratando con mi banco de los Estados Unidos y me ayudó a organizar todo. La noche del evento, cenamos a las 7 PM. La comida era INCREÍBLE, y el servicio era de primera. Mi esposo tenía un filete que era tan tierno, que dijo que podía cortarlo con un tenedor, y yo tenía el pescado del día que era delicado, sabroso y acompañado de ingredientes locales frescos. Porque los fuegos artificiales no comenzaron hasta las 11 aprox. 30 , tuvimos bastante tiempo entre que terminamos nuestra cena y cuando se abrió la azotea. El personal era servicial en darnos todas las pruebas necesarias que, de hecho, habíamos reservado un lugar para la azotea. Cuando llegamos a la azotea a las 10: 30 , pudimos conseguir un asiento con una bonita pareja de Chicago que amablemente accedió a compartir su mesa. Las bebidas estaban incluidas en la reserva de la azotea, el personal era amable y servicial y el espectáculo de fuegos artificiales desde la terraza de La Caravella no tenía igual. No puedo recomendar suficientemente esta institución familiar. La Caravella es una visita obligada.

21/07/2025: Best lunch we had in Venice. Great service, food, and prices. A godsend on a hot hot day. Try the special pasta. You know the place is great when next to you is a table full of elderly Italian people having a great big meal.

08/08/2025: Realistic review. I came here because of all the good reviews but had a bad experience. Please consider the bad reviews before choosing to eat here Took the set menu, and the fact the service charge was included should have been a red flag to the low quality. The food was unseasoned, cold and clearly not made fresh. Starter was a microwaved lasagne which was frozen ready meal quality and unseasoned spaghetti with tomato sauce. Mains were thick chunk of unseasoned pork and bland, pale fried seafood selection and a side of (again) unseasoned and cold boiled veg all of which were inedible and we did not finish. For dessert, cheap tiramisu and creme caramel which were covered in a cheap chocolate and caramel sauce respectively, the sort you get on a kids ice cream. The creme caramel had a hard base as though it hadn't been thawed properly. The wine is unreasonably expensive on the menu compared to shop prices, we didn't want to get a drink there but kept getting asked to despite being given a drink on arrival? They said there was no tap water available for table also. Also there is no music so people just eat in uncomfortable silence. This is the only restaurant where I considered dine and dashing because I did not want to pay for the awful food we pretty much didn't eat. I wouldn't mind so much if I knew coming to this place it is just cheap frozen food. It seems from other reviews that the pizza is fine so I would keep this in mind when reading reviews and considering this as a place to eat.

06/08/2025: An excellent discovery, found by chance while walking around Venice with a photographer. We were quickly won over by the menu and the decor. We received a very warm welcome and the food is of very good quality. No hidden fees or extra charges. Thank you again for the small gesture upon arrival. We enjoyed this meal so much that we booked again the next day. This second visit was just as good as the first. This is the best, by far the best, restaurant. The staff is very friendly and makes an effort to accommodate those who don't speak Italian and whose English is lacking. Thank you again; we will have wonderful memories of it.
