05/05/2026: We had lunch at Da Giancarla and had a truly positive experience. The dishes were excellent, with authentic flavors, generous portions, and carefully prepared. The value for money was excellent: we ate really well for a more than reasonable price. Also noteworthy is the kindness, helpfulness, and attentiveness shown toward customers—qualities that always make the difference. It's one of those places where you feel welcomed and immediately want to return. Highly recommended!

15/05/2026: A quick stop in Rome... Trevi Fountain and looking for a good carbonara. We arrived here, even though we didn't book, they found us a seat right away... well, what can I say? Excellent!!! Very kind people, everything was so good that we even went back for lunch before going home. Congratulations to everyone and thanks for the hospitality ❣️

11/05/2026: This restaurant is immediately outside of the exit of the Villa Gregoriana gift shop. You can dine next to an ancient Roman temple, which is stunning. It’s right on the cliff, so you can see amazing views of waterfalls and the nature of Tivoli. The food is amazing, as is the service. Service and food quality aren’t exactly issues when it comes to dining in Italy (in my experience, at least). The walls outside have plaques of all the royalty who have dined there, and there are also large pieces of ruins from even older structures of that area to see. It’s a gorgeous place with great food. You’ll love it.

18/06/2026: Hostaria La Scalinata is an absolute gem and deserves every one of its five stars. From the moment we walked in, it felt like being invited into someone’s home rather than just another Roman restaurant. The staff are all senior, deeply experienced, and utterly professional, and they run the dining room with a warmth and ease that you simply can’t fake. They made an incredible fuss of my 81‑year‑old mum, chatting with her, joking with her, and making sure she had the best possible time....and she absolutely did. My mum also has some very serious food allergies, including no beef and no pork, and she carries an epi‑pen. When we handed over her medical card listing all the things she can’t eat, the staff could not have been more understanding or accommodating. They took the time to go through it carefully, reassured us, and made sure every dish was safe for her, which gave us huge peace of mind and let her relax and enjoy the evening. We enjoyed our first dinner there so much that we went back on our second night in Rome. A couple of days later, while we were across the street getting gelato, the gentleman who had looked after us on that first visit spotted us, waved, and called out to ask if we would be coming again. When we said, “Yes, later tonight,” his immediate response was, “I have a table booked for you,” and he blew my mum a kiss. That small moment summed up the whole experience: genuine hospitality, real human connection, and a feeling that they truly care about their guests. The food, atmosphere, and service all come together to create a cozy, authentic Roman experience that we will never forget. Hostaria La Scalinata is the kind of place you look forward to returning to before you’ve even left, and I will definitely go back the next time I’m in Rome. Absolute legends.

18/06/2026: After a long day in Rome, this was a nice place to have dinner. The food was delicious, the wine selection was impressive, and the atmosphere made you want to stay a little longer. Nothing flashy or pretentious – just a good place to feel good. We were satisfied and left in a good mood.

17/06/2026: We finally came here after many visits to Rome and always seeing the great reviews. Initially we were a bit skeptical due to the high numbers of reviews but turns out it is all legit and well deserved. Mirko was our server and a total gem. Our girls went for the carbonara as that is their favorite pasta and they both proclaimed this one to be the best they had yet. We ordered the Focaccia, the meatballs in oxtail sauce, and the fried artichokes. Everything was delicious, flavorful, and well portioned. Definitely can highly recommend this place for a date or a family outing. Do not miss out. PS: show up during the week and early evening as it gets packed quickly after 7:30.

30/04/2026: A welcoming, non-touristy trattoria. This guarantees the quality of the cuisine. The service is friendly and attentive. The cacio e pepe, in particular, is superb!!!

11/06/2026: We celebrated our 30th wedding anniversary with a meal at this wonderful restaurant during our stay in Rome 🥰. My husband surprised me with the reservation. Although we arrived a little early, we received a very warm welcome. We were first shown to a seating area on the rooftop terrace, where we were offered a complimentary glass of sparkling wine. The relaxing background music made the short wait much more enjoyable. We were then shown to a romantic table on the terrace. At the elegantly set table, our romantic dinner could begin. The wine recommendation from the very attentive waiters and waitresses was exactly to our liking 🥰. From the appetizer to the dessert, it was simply an explosion of flavor. Although the terrace was quite busy, we were still able to have a good conversation and enjoy our dinner. The service was very attentive! We highly recommend this restaurant and will definitely return on our next visit to Rome 😊. Thank you to all the staff for the wonderful evening 😘

09/06/2026: We loved our dinner here, had the seared shrimps, uovo and tuna. But the gem was the dessert: white chocolate cream with amaretti and salted caramel! Did all for us. Avoid the Peach dessert was not caramelized or wow, pick the other one!

20/05/2026: A small trattoria between the Trevi Fountain and the Quirinale Palace. We had fried food (including a perfect Jewish-style artichoke) and four first courses, lasagna, and amatriciana. Simple, tasty, with excellent ingredients, cooked according to Roman tradition. Fresh, homemade desserts Attentive and friendly staff, fair prices. Mark it in your diary to return 🎀
