25/07/2025: One of the worst value meals I’ve had, not only in Italy but throughout the world. Terrible service, lukewarm beer and food so bad that we cancelled our secondi plates after our first few bites. The place is also packed with loud American college kids; I doubt an Italian has eaten here in years.

25/07/2025: I normally don’t leave reviews but this was without a doubt the single worst meal of our trip and I would hate for someone else to waste a precious meal of their holiday on this restaurant. Tldr; don’t fall for the reviews and Bourdain effect—this is the biggest tourist trap with unbelievably rude staff, and you will regret wasting a dinner here. Food: I’ll start by noting that everything we ordered was a direct, although inexplicably reluctant, recommendation by our waiter. The fried zucchini blossoms were a tasteless, bready blob with a few flowers inside. We couldn’t bring ourselves to finish it. The famous cacio e pepe was fine but pretty dry and uneventful. The oriechette special with salted cod was maybe the worst pasta I have ever had. The sauce dried up on the hard pasta and the cod was extremely bland. We actually cancelled our secondi because the food was so bad, which I have never had to do before. Drink: We ordered two beers and a water, all of which came out lukewarm. We didn’t complain about it because we didn’t want to bother the servers who seemed busy and were already being cold to us, but couldn’t have done so anyways given it was impossible to flag anybody down all evening. Service: So cold and impatient to our table from the very beginning when we asked for recommendations with our order. Also took away our plates with more than half of the food left unfinished and didn’t bother to ask if everything was okay. To add insult to injury, our waiter (after three separate requests for the check) dropped off our bill and said “service is not included.” Which was insane because (1) restaurants in Rome typically do not apply service charges, (2) literally what service and (3) the bill had a 3 euro charge for “pane e service” ?? When asked about this the waiter just said that it was a fee for bringing out plates and cups to our table and said all restaurants do this— we’ve literally never seen this charge on any of our meals in Rome. When asked why we received no bread when the charge says “pane” he said it was our fault for not requesting bread. Rome is an amazing city with more incredible restaurants than any of us have time for in a single visit. There is no reason to spend any of your hard earned time and money at this restaurant that will happily serve its customers miserable food under the guise of being gourmet, even if Anthony Bourdain did eat here 14 years ago.

27/07/2025: We ordered matriciana and tagliatelle with white ragù. Everything was delicious and reasonably priced: only €15 per person.

25/07/2025: I give it a 5! Great atmosphere, enough to fill you up. Unfortunately, the service is a 3 because we had to ask for it and get a waiter to even order.

27/07/2025: Large quantities of good-quality food at a reasonable price. They have excellent promotions, especially in the summer. The place is rustic and has a friendly atmosphere. Parking is difficult to find in the area.

21/04/2025: Siamo stati il giorno di Pasqua all' Osteria 29 un pranzo eccezionale con un buon antipasto nella fedele tradizione romana una lasagna morbida e gustosa per non parlare dell' agnello che così buono non l ho mai mangiato e poi vuoi mettere la simpatia dell' oste... abbiamo passato un piacevole pranzo pasquale bravissimi!!!!

16/04/2025: Osteria semplice e schietta, offerta tradizionale e ben fatta, senza grossi difetti. Cucina abbastanza veloce. Unica cosa che non m’ha convinto l’antipasto fritto romano, composto da 1 piatto di ottime verdure in pastella.. ma solo quello.. se si confronta con l’antipasto dell’oste non c’è paragone per prezzo e varietà/quantità. Oste che interpreta perfettamente il ruolo, amichevole e un pò scojonato! 4 stelle se raffrontato con altre centinaia di locali simili che in realtà sono sòle!

07/08/2025: I put together my own tasting menu, sampling the trattoria's signature dishes and typical Roman cuisine. Everything was excellent, with a special focus on the fifth quarter, which I was very pleased with. I highly recommend this experience!

05/08/2025: I'd long wanted to dine at Sora Lella, driven by my affection for my grandmother Lella, whom I've always loved in her films. The idea of savoring traditional Roman cuisine in such an iconic venue thrilled me. The welcome was courteous, and the dining room, though small, was warm and well-maintained. The service was attentive and refined. However, the food didn't meet my expectations: the dishes were average and didn't convey the authenticity or excellence I'd expected from a restaurant of this renown. Unfortunately, dinner was made even more difficult by the oppressive heat inside the restaurant. I sweated the entire evening, so much so that I couldn't even finish my second course. This certainly negatively impacted the overall experience. The quality-price ratio wasn't adequate: the prices are high, but not justified by the quality of the dishes or the condition of the restaurant. In the end, I felt like I'd paid more for the name and the story than for the dinner itself. An experience I, unfortunately, wouldn't repeat.

08/07/2025: I was there this evening for dinner, the atmosphere was very old, the service was very slow, the food was not good at all, the pizza was burnt and the tomato was raw, I would never recommend it again

21/07/2025: Pretty good food off the train station. Nice little sit down to enjoy Italian food. Order some coffees, lobster pasta and pizza. Overall good- nothing too crazy. Classic foods and good price. Service was very quick, recommend

04/07/2025: Abbiamo ordinato due primi romani tipici: una cacio e pepe ed un'amatriciana, quest'ultima nello specifico non era altro che pasta al sugo, con qualche pezzo minuscolo di guanciale qua e là e giusto una cucchiaiata di formaggio, la salsa era completamente slegata dalla pasta, la posizione è ottima per i viaggiatori, non a caso i clienti erano quasi esclusivamente turisti, ma il cibo assolutamente da rivedere. Dispiace perchè i proprietari e i camerieri sono stati tutti molto gentili.

01/08/2025: Some service issues with the first courses—you can wait a long time and eat at different times for four people—but despite this, it's still good Roman cuisine. Meatballs are a specialty.

31/07/2025: Service could be improved. Delays, waiter's confidences, lack of professionalism. Everything was very sketchy. The food was late, but good. Not excellent, but good. A restaurant to go to if you have time to waste and don't have high expectations.

17/03/2025: Locale piccolo e molto accogliente, servizio veloce ed attento, propone piatti romani e piatti di pesce, abbiamo preso un fritto vegetale, degli gnocchi con sugo di spuntature, il cervelletto di abbacchio fritto e l'abbacchio alla scottadito, ed infine uno strudel ed una cassata, tutto veramente squisito. Prezzo anche troppo onesto. Complimenti.

22/01/2025: Se si vuole trovare la cucina romana senza se e senza ma, Domenico dal 1968 a via Satrico è davvero un’opzione irrinunciabile. Prodotti tutti rigorosamente provenienti dal Lazio (compresi i vini e i liquori) per piatti che nella loro autenticità lasciano la clientela davvero soddisfatta. Se andate in inverno chiedete di provare la minestra di broccoli e Arzilla o, se di stagione, i carciofi alla giudia. Ma anche gli altri piatti (di pesce o carne) sono davvero ben fatti. Ottimi il rapporto qualità prezzo e il servizio. Ultimo suggerimento: prenotate altrimenti rischierete di restare a bocca asciutta.

13/07/2025: Non vivo più a Monteverde vecchio e conseguentemente era tanto tempo che non ritornavo in quella che è stata per anni la mia pizzeria del cuore. Ho ritrovato lo stesso ambiente familiare, accogliente ed amichevole, ottimi fritti (consiglio a tutti la mozzarella fritta) e pizza romana croccante e gustosa. Non comprendo le recensioni poco lusinghiere anche perché il rapporto qualità prezzo è rimasto davvero imbattibile. Tornerò con immenso piacere!
