30/05/2025: Was a nice restaurant with good Milanese Risotto. I also got the Veal, and together the portion felt quite large (though it did feel standard for Italy). Really nice staff.

29/05/2025: I give a negative rating to the owner's rudeness. We call to book and they tell us that there is only outside seating. We arrive and the outside seating is in the sun. I point this out and the owner rudely replies that I could book inside

20/05/2025: This restaurant is racist. My partner and I are both Asian. We arrived right after they opened and watched everyone else around us get served while we didn’t even order. The bigoted Italian waiter refused to come over and speak to us when we inquired about our food. Two other Asian diners left and all the white couples were served. This place is disgraceful and after 1.5 hours, we left with no food!!!

12/04/2025: Délicieux dîner. Nous avons apprécié la simplicité de la carte qui n’est pas divisée en antipasti, primo, secondi, ce qui n’empêche pas d’avoir le choix. Frais, délicieux, carte des vins riche et desserts succulents. Que demander de plus ?

23/03/2025: Pranzo ottimo tranne per l'eccessivo uso di sale nella portata del riso al salto e io sono una persona che tende a mangiare salato. Vitello tonnato squisito uno dei migliori che abbia mai provato, location raffinata e presentazione piatti molto curata e raffinata peccato per quel eccessivo uso di sale nel riso.

11/05/2025: This place is one of the classical food experiences in Milan - a city where it is easy to eat very averagely. Binari is atmospheric, practiced and professional. We arrived and my husband was not impressed to be facing the wall at the end of the room and the mirror ( yes - I took the seat w the view of the charming room!). I’d booked online weeks in advance and as we were leaving the following morning I decided I’d ask if we could be moved. Not a problem - possibly because we arrived at the very early (by Milanese standards) hour of 7:30pm. They happily reseated us. The wine list was comprehensive- we enjoyed a Barbaresco, the waiter was charming and the food was delicious. I tend to always try the Vitello tonnato - and this was an excellent version. My husband was not as impressed w his seafood pasta. We enjoyed ourselves though . We walked back to the metro past the student bar where they were spilling onto the street w the smell of pot wafting through the air and pizza being delivered and caught the very safe metro back to our accommodation. A classic experience.

22/05/2025: I had dinner with friends on 5/22 after a concert at the nearby church of San Carlo al Lazzaretto. The waiter's service was excellent, the food good. The evening was ruined by the private circus-style party with choirs and karaoke, for the birthday of the scion who owns the place. I pointed out that a place that cannot host vulgar events and, if it does, must notify at the time of booking. I would have saved 50 euros

16/05/2025: Really table in the back garden area, the staff and quality of food was excellent, really fresh and tasty, I totally recommend!

23/05/2025: A trattoria where I would not return. We ate mixed antipasti, good but nothing special. Risotto alla milanese tasteless and lacking in flavour, the dry cutlet was almost impossible to cut, and the service was practically non-existent, I had to get up several times to ask the waiter.

20/05/2025: A real Milanese tavern where you can taste all the traditional Milanese dishes. Friendly and helpful staff. The only downside is that it is difficult to find a parking spot, but if you are lucky you will make up for it with the goodness of the house. How much did I spend? I can't help you because I was a guest

12/05/2025: Excellent! The best restaurant in Milan. A pure Italian atmosphere, behind closed doors, and they don't even need to attract tourists. The dishes were divine and the service was equally magnificent.

10/05/2025: Excellent Milanese cuisine in a very charming historical setting. Tables are set with monogrammed linens and silver. Dishes are brought to the tables on a cart by the waiters. Recommended to us by a local, the Antica Trattoria Della Pesa, was a a wonderful choice for lunch. An opportunity to enjoy great food and timeless elegance.

02/06/2025: Overall, I expected a better experience. Perhaps the thing that struck us most was the insane quality-price ratio. We are Milanese, not tourists; we have toured and tried dozens of Milanese places and hundreds of restaurants, so we have terms of comparison and honestly it is not acceptable in the slightest to pay 28 euros for a veal with tuna sauce that we judged to be “normal”. It is not acceptable to have markups like those we saw for wines, when the list is very, very limited and therefore does not justify in any way the costs of managing a cellar of different size and depth. My risotto alla milanese was absolutely normal, while I judged the dish of stewed snails to be excellent. Negative judgment on the location that is fine to be old, but a refresh and cleaning would certainly not make it lose the “old” style in favor of a gain for the view.

29/05/2025: Classy experience in a historic restaurant in the city of Milan. Quality does not necessarily mean gourmet or Michelin stars, the healthy culinary values ​​of a tradition are enough, wonderfully handed down here. The ancient recipe cutlet was excellent, as was the ossobuco with risotto ordered by my friend. The glasses of red wine were a bit expensive, but fortunately abundant. Very courteous and punctual service.

23/05/2025: I've never had carbonara pasta so salty, and the bruschetta was good but very, very greasy. Customers' plates never return to the kitchen empty.

16/05/2025: Really pleasant dinner in this place, starting from the outdoor tables well spaced to ensure the right privacy, the kindness of the staff who advised and served us, the simple but tasty and well-executed dishes, among which the real Milanese cutlet stands out, crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. The bill was also correct and absolutely in line with the quality offered. The owner was very kind and stopped us at the exit to thank us for the visit and have a chat with us. We will definitely return to try other dishes of Milanese cuisine.

16/05/2025: Una cena con quattro amici che non vedevo da 50 anni (!!!). Compagni delle Scuole Medie. Antipasti nella norma, ottima cotoletta e - a sentire gli altri commensali - bene anche l'ossobuco. Dolci abbastanza standard. Gutturnio sfuso buono. Ambiente tranquillo (lunedì sera) e servizio buono. Un po' lontano da casa, ma si può riprovare anche se forse il rapporto qualità/prezzo non è stato proprio nella media: 45 euro a testa (antipasto affettati, mondeghini, giardiniera, crostini), uno dei secondi sopra citati, vino sfuso.

28/05/2025: Specializing in Piedmont cuisine, I recommend ordering the steaks. The desserts are also very good. Excellent service, and they serve fairly quickly. There were two of us, and it came to 90, including two main courses, water, dessert, and wine.

06/06/2025: Sono stata alla Libera qualche giorno fa con amici e familiari. Non conoscevo questo posto ci siamo passati per caso. Entrati si respira l aria di vecchia Milano. Posto storico ma ben curato. Piatti ben preparati, ampia scelta di vini seppur un po alti come prezzi. D altronde siamo in centro a Milano. Personale super Gentile, Lavinia ci ha coccolati sin da subito e ha saputo consigliarci al meglio. Must ossobuco con risotto alla milanese e tiramisù con gelatonal forno pazzeschi. Abbiamo conosciuto anche il direttore super carino anche lui. Il team è molto affiatato e la cucina è diretta da delle mani esperte. La nostra esperienza è molto positiva e lo consiglieró sicuramente! Provare per credere.

05/06/2025: Purtroppo hanno cambiato gestione, non è rimasto più nulla della vecchia tradizione milanese, la Libera era uno dei pochi posti rimasti in cui si respirava ancora la vera Milano. Cibo di bassa qualità, servizio pessimo , conto eccessivo. Purtroppo non ci tornerò più, dopo averlo frequentato da più di trent’anni.
