12/02/2026: I'm reviewing this place as a restaurant! Since I can't rate the food, the 5-star rating for the rooms is based on our dinner experience. We didn't try the B&B service. The restaurant showcases two distinct culinary styles that blend perfectly in a restaurant that welcomes you as if you were dining at a friend's house...a friend who knows a thing or two about cooking. The offerings range from traditional Italian and Mantuan dishes to Asian-inspired dishes. Both offer truly high-quality dishes, with aromas and flavors that transport you to China, Hong Kong, and Japan, like the ramen and mixed antipasto, alongside perfectly executed classics like tagliolini with truffle or shrimp and shrimp bisque. You can't go wrong with the desserts either (but you have to try the Mantuan rose cake because you'll never go back!). Honorable mention goes to the dining room service and the sommelier, who guided us through a blind wine tasting, featuring truly rare labels and delightful discoveries. For dinner, with a mixed appetizer per person and a main course each, plus dessert, wine, and service charge, we spent €60-65 per person, which is more than deserved. Congratulations!

24/01/2026: Returning to the Nizzoli restaurant is like visiting old aunts and uncles: you already know you'll have a great time, that you'll feel welcome, that you'll take away something more than a good meal. It's a place where time hasn't stood still, but has been passed down. Here you'll find true tradition, the kind recognized by taste and memory, the kind that tells you what you're eating and where it comes from. Authentic, sincere cuisine, rooted in 1963 and still speaking with the same voice, made of authenticity, goodness, and respect. Tonight, as always, I found all of this: the flavor of things done well, friendship, human warmth, and then the stories, which are part of the menu here: stories of painters and cinema. The pictures on the walls speak of Zavattini, the memory of Bertolucci and his crews who came to eat here, and that atmosphere that smells of Ligabue, of Antonio Ligabue, of art lived and not embalmed. There are dishes that alone deserve official recognition: the bigoli with snail ragù and the sugolo with zabaglione should be declared a World Heritage Site, because they are infinitely delicious, the kind that lingers in your memory and makes you want to return again and again. Nizzoli isn't just a restaurant: it's a place of the soul. A place where you eat well, yes, but above all, a place where you return. Always willingly.

22/02/2026: We go there often, and the waiter has changed, but he's very kind and good. We've always had gnocco and tigelle with cold cuts and cheeses, always delicious. The eight of us spent €30, which is fair.

10/03/2026: A very beautiful place inside and beautifully decorated outside. The menu is good, with excellent pumpkin tortelli (though portions were small, according to my guests). The cured meats and the tagliata are definitely worth trying. Service is prompt and prompt, but less so at the register, where there's a sign prohibiting separate bills. Their SBRISOLONA is highly recommended for takeout; it's much more expensive than nearby shops, but trust me, you'll find out why when you taste it...unbeatable!

09/03/2026: We had the pleasure of eating at this restaurant for lunch over the weekend. The gentleman who greeted us at the entrance, I think the owner, was extremely kind and helpful from the start. Honestly, I hadn't eaten this well at a restaurant in a long time; there wasn't a single bad thing. The entire table had a first course and a second course, some fish and some meat. Everything was truly perfect. The wine list also seemed well-stocked. The atmosphere is very refined and elegant, yet makes you feel at ease. The prices may be a little higher than other places, by a few euros, but I have to say it's worth every penny! Next time we're in Mantua, we'll definitely be back here!

01/03/2026: The restrooms are difficult to access due to a very awkward staircase. The food quality is terrible, with poor first course condiments. The service is unpleasant, the bill is high, and the coffee is undrinkable. I will never return.

28/03/2026: Sorry, but this isn't the way it should be. We found this restaurant after visiting the historic center, but in my opinion, a restaurant shouldn't operate like this. The waiters were constantly coming from inside and outside the restaurant, bringing dishes to other restaurants that probably didn't have a kitchen, thus creating, in my opinion, an uneasiness in the dining room. (P.S. Waiters from other restaurants also came in with their orders.) Not to mention what I ate. It was very good, but it didn't really match what I'd ordered. I ordered beef cheek with gorgonzola and leeks, but I got a few pieces of meat drowned in cream (which didn't even contain a hint of gorgonzola) and a few pieces of leek. It was good, but I wouldn't return.

08/03/2026: The place is nice, but they've overdone it with the closeness and smallness of the tables... it feels like a fast food restaurant, not a restaurant with a kitchen. The pumpkin tortelli are good, but they're more like dessert ones because they buy the super sweet ones that are larger than the traditional ones. (But they're the same ones that cover all the restaurants downtown anyway.) It's a good thing they serve more of them than in Piazza Erbe...like 6 pieces, here 11. Although I prefer the classic pumpkin tortelli recipe with butter and sage. Even better with red wine and white truffle... they could use that 🤪 I ​​also preferred the Mantuan rice made the traditional way; here it's too dry for my taste, overcooked. Try it at the rice fair on Isola della Scala. But since you're catering to tourists, and we're in Mantua, make it up to par. Instead, they should process the chocolate and pear cake more or remove it... once I ate it dry and the other time raw... I think they should change the type of dessert... it's better to serve the typical Mantuan desserts made by the bakery next door... I can say they only provide top-notch service because Andrea, the head waiter, is here. I think people only come here because of him... if he were to leave, they'd lose the local Mantua clientele who already undervalue the place due to its fame... it works because it's downtown and there are tourists passing through. Because the other elderly Sicilian lady was acting strangely, standing outside and saying it wasn't her job to bring drinks, bread, etc., and she doesn't know the dishes or wines... who knows what merits she's here for? But even though her job is to seat people, she does it in a disorganized way. She says "sit down," but then people stand around trying to figure out what they're talking about... until the head waiter seats them... and she's looking at her phone instead... Shocked 🤐😒 and even says at the entrance, "Come eat at my place." Maybe the owner... I don't know. If the place brings in profit, take care of the staff, be honest, polite, kind... if people don't come back, the profit doesn't come... logic is logic.

05/08/2025: Auf der Piazza sitzt man wunderbar! Allerdings dauerte es 20 Minuten (!) bis der Wirt sich unser annahm; gut, wir waren im Urlaub und hatten Zeit. Der Service war aber weiterhin mangelhaft: Erst wurde die falsche Vorspeise serviert, dann das Besteck nicht mitgeliefert, um den Espresso mussten wir zweimal bitten - das macht keine Freude. Das Essen war guter Durchschnitt.

08/06/2025: Locale sicuramente carino, ottimi piatti, ben preparati e curati, peccato che il cameriere serve come fossimo in una pizzeria, senza dare importanza a quello che servono. Chiedo di aprire il vino, sotto intendendo poi il servizio, ma qui no, aperto e rimesso nel secchio del ghiaccio, poi c’è lo siamo servito noi. Fra una portata e l’alta non si sono degnati di farsi vedere per comandare un vino adatto alle seconde portate (qui anche poco furbi e commercianti) , alla fine ti promettono un digestivo…. Sto aspettando ancora adesso ☹️. Usciti dal ristorante, neanche un saluto da parte dei gerenti. In generale, in diversi ristoranti e locali comunque, servizio scadente, approssimativo e poco personale.

08/03/2026: We were at Caffè alla Pace for just half an hour and the experience was awful. Even though there were five of us at two tables pushed together, they placed us right in front of a shelf where the buffet cutting boards were kept: we practically had them glued to our backs and spent the entire time worried that we'd bump into them and knock everything over with the slightest movement. An absurd setup that doesn't allow for relaxation. The prices are completely out of line: €6 for a Gingerino and €2 for a water are unjustifiable. The staff is cold and unwelcoming. Furthermore, to use the bathroom, you have to climb a very steep and dangerous staircase where the risk of falling is real. The fake grapes on the ceiling are the only distinguishing feature, but it's not enough to make up for the lack of customer service and the sky-high bill. I don't recommend it.
