It's a shame we weren't hungry enough to try more dishes; we were spoiled for choice. 02/02/2026: I'm revising my previous review. This is a historic Mantua restaurant. Traditional dishes, but sometimes, in the kitchen, they lose their composure. On the last occasion, for example, we were served a first course that, to call al dente, was simply too much. What's disappointing is not seeing a smile. In other words, there's a lack of "friendliness," and that's a shame: perhaps the customer would appreciate it.

18/01/2026: A very small restaurant located in the center of Mantua, with decor that's stuck in the '80s... When you book, you're asked if you want to eat in the first or second sitting. My group of friends and I went at 9:00 PM, so be prepared for a limited menu since many dishes are no longer available at that time... This seems absurd to me, since you should be able to choose what you want... Furthermore, when they bring you the menus, none of this is communicated, so you're left "ripped off" just as you're about to order. The first courses weren't good, especially the risotto alla mantovana, which was small, bland, overcooked, and had a few burnt grains... but did you know salt exists? The second courses, on the other hand, weren't bad. As for the desserts, I recommend skipping them; they weren't anything special, and the sbrisolona mantovana tasted like a hard biscuit! The staff leaves a bit to be desired, a bit rude, it feels like they're making fun of you when they talk to you. The most absurd thing was when the gentleman, the owner I presume, brought us the dessert menu and told us that some of them were missing, then left without even telling us which ones were missing, so we had to call a waiter back. All in all, a bad experience. I don't recommend this restaurant, as you can find much better in the city!

My wife and I shared a mixed cheese platter accompanied by a superb mustard, a plate of riso alla pilota, and a plate of pasta stuffed with walnut sauce. We finished the meal with an excellent sbrisolona cake accompanied by passito wine. Everything was delicious...

27/12/2025: A little outside of Mantua, a must-visit for the delicious food. Everything is homemade. Each dish is carefully prepared and the flavors are authentic. We had a wonderful time, thanks also to Claudio's hospitality and friendliness. A very nice place. Overall, it's worth it, especially for the delicious food—which I'd say is excellent!—but also because you escape the chaos of the city.

30/11/2025: I'd like to review Scacciapensieri to clarify the service, which is good. Wait times are normal considering it's a Saturday lunch with at least 90 seats. The quality/price ratio is very fair. The menu is varied.

The place is quaint and welcoming, the service is fast and very friendly. My wife and I had fried snails, stewed snails with polenta, bourguignonne, and then pumpkin tortelli, sbrisolona cake, and coffee. Everything was fine for us. I'm looking at around €40 each. It's worth an hour's drive. Congratulations 👍
