02/02/2026: I'm revising my previous review. This is a historic Mantua restaurant. Traditional dishes, but sometimes, in the kitchen, they lose their composure. On the last occasion, for example, we were served a first course that, to call al dente, was simply too much. What's disappointing is not seeing a smile. In other words, there's a lack of "friendliness," and that's a shame: perhaps the customer would appreciate it.

30/03/2026: The more time passes, the more stars it continues to lose. The quality and portions are increasingly poor, and the prices are unfairly rising. They're probably trying to recover the revenue lost due to COVID. Let's start with the dishes: the bucatini with guanciale and Pachino tomatoes were SWEET, no thanks. The zucchini gnocchi, however, were good and just the right amount of flavor. The tuna carpaccio was too salty; I add salt and pepper myself; if you bring me the carpaccio covered, it might be a problem for someone. Finally, the bill: €5 for a glass of house Valpolicella is way too much, not to mention the €5 cover charge (paper napkin and placemat, and a basket with four pieces of bread and focaccia for two people). The service has never been excellent, but it doesn't seem to have changed.

01/03/2026: My partner, my two-year-old daughter, and I were there. Great experience. Fast service even though it was a Sunday and there were a lot of people. The pizza was excellent, with a very light crust and top-quality ingredients. We'll definitely be back!

10/02/2026: Mindful of previous negative experiences, I'm always reluctant to go to a restaurant during the holidays. However, this year we came to this restaurant for the first time on Christmas Day, and we had a wonderful meal, a set menu with amazing classic dishes. The restaurant is rustic, spacious, and pleasant, the service impeccable, and the prices are reasonable. It's worth it. We'll definitely be back.

22/11/2025: A simple menu with an excellent selection of traditional first and second courses. The cured meats and desserts are also delicious. For €40, you can enjoy all courses in a casual atmosphere with friendly service. Book well in advance.

19/03/2026: Dinner with relatives at grandma's couldn't convey the family warmth of Ginen. It's like going to lunch with old friends. Phenomenal traditional dishes, no American-style fare, no gourmet bullshit. Here you eat deliciously and in abundance, drink well, and laugh heartily. There's no better trattoria in Mantua, guaranteed! Low prices and quality like a lunch at a grandmother who wants to pamper you.

17/03/2026: We visited this trattoria for dinner. We immediately felt at home thanks to the informal atmosphere and the friendly owners. The food was excellent and the prices were very fair. We will definitely be back.

03/03/2026: Small but cozy place; good food, too bad the polenta (with stew) was obviously pre-packaged! They waste a bit of time waiting for orders when the place is full. The biggest and most inexplicable flaw is that there's only one bathroom for men and women, and even worse, it's Turkish style: every female customer, at that sight, turned away, giving up on their needs, not even in the post-war period!!!

02/03/2026: Leoncino Rosso is a homey restaurant serving traditional Mantuan cuisine that captivates with its authenticity. The restaurant is small, welcoming, and typical of old-fashioned taverns: the atmosphere is simple and genuine, making you feel instantly at home. The staff is friendly and helpful, and the food is excellent and prepared with respect for tradition. The quality-price ratio is also truly excellent. I recommend booking well in advance, as seating is limited and in high demand.

30/11/2025: I'd like to review Scacciapensieri to clarify the service, which is good. Wait times are normal considering it's a Saturday lunch with at least 90 seats. The quality/price ratio is very fair. The menu is varied.

23/11/2025: Excellent appetizers, don't miss the platter of cured meats, cheeses, and mustard. The first courses are very good, the second courses excellent. Traditional cuisine with excellent products.

04/03/2026: We spent two days in Mantua; on our first night, we decided to have dinner here. The owner greeted us as if we were longtime customers. I've rarely encountered such kindness. Everything we ordered was truly delicious; from the gnocco fritto with cured meats, to the pumpkin tortelli, to the risotto alla Pilota with puntel, and even dessert. What more can I say? We had such a great time, we came back the next night! Congratulations!!!

03/02/2026: First time at this restaurant, we were pleasantly surprised! Everything was perfect! From the location, to the customer service, and the attention to detail in the dishes. The staff was knowledgeable, kind, and friendly. The food was delicious and of high quality. We'll definitely be back. The dog was so sweet🥰

09/04/2026: I won't be returning. Paid too much for the food and the truly poor service. There are many better restaurants in Mantua! An important detail: the stairs leading down to the bathroom are terribly steep and narrow, not accessible to everyone.

06/04/2026: Very high expectations, the restaurant recommended by the B&B owner as one of the best in Mantua. It won the show with Bastianich. We were greeted coldly upon arrival; we waited a bit for the table we'd reserved the day before to become available. After a good half hour, the first courses arrived, but one was missing, arriving much later. The tagliolini in white veal ragù was very good, the pumpkin tortelli were good but not exceptional, and the agnoli with butter and sage were average. The problem was the small portions, but that's how it is. We ordered a beef stew, which unfortunately took another hour to arrive (it was good, but by then we'd lost our enthusiasm), and the potatoes never arrived at all. There was a general sense of confusion, and the service was unwelcoming (€4 each) and rushed. Other tables also complained about the delays. The prices were too high for what was on offer. The place is unrealistic, and there's much room for improvement in many areas.

07/04/2026: PERFECT Mantua restaurant. EXCELLENT FOOD, WONDERFUL SERVICE, friendly and conversational waiter. BEAUTIFUL ambiance.

22/03/2026: After a long train ride, the Giallozucca restaurant was just what we needed. Service from a friendly, smiling young woman, a welcoming atmosphere, delicious traditional food, and reasonable prices. I recommend looking around for the photographs and artwork hanging there. We'll definitely be back!
