15/02/2025: I have been frequenting the "Porta Vaticana" for more than 20 years and believe me it is always a pleasure to return both for the excellent cuisine and for the friendliness of Michele and his staff. In my opinion, anyone who comes to Tropea cannot fail to go and get to know this place and its characteristics, I read someone who criticized the ceiling fans... dear ones, they have always been there and are an integral part of the location. Anyway excellent fish cuisine excellent Neapolitan style pizza excellent wine list and don't miss the exceptional and inimitable "Risotto Afrodite" an indelible memory of the person who created it. Michele is a friend and a guarantee.

30/10/2024: We went on Sunday with a fixed menu and what a menu... many appetizers based on mushrooms but also home-grown products. The tagliatelle are delicious. We hadn't been there for a long time but it proved to be a good place to have lunch. Added to the excellent food is the courtesy, helpfulness and friendliness of the dining room staff. They try to make customers feel at ease and this is how you don't feel like just an extra cover but a customer to be pampered.

15/12/2024: Premise : I've been twice for two family birthdays and I hope there will be other times again. The place is welcoming inside and also has a beautiful outdoor area with garden. I had the opportunity to test both the kitchen and the pizzeria. In one of the two parties I took part in, I was also able to bring my little dog and the owners were kind enough to even let him play inside, I couldn't find a better place where he felt so comfortable too. Whether it's for a birthday party or not, it has so much potential and I have also recommended it to my circle of friends. I wanted to make the premise because the rudeness of a single individual cannot compromise the work of the collective. Unfortunately, the last time I had the displeasure of meeting one of the waiters (I think it's one on call) to whom I simply indicated that the margherita pizza was for me, he turned away and shouted that I didn't speak when his back was turned. looking at the other side of the table (the pizza in question was not for the center of the table but was a pizza not cut into several pieces) he threw it on the table to me and sincerely as far as I can understand the nervousness of a Saturday working evening I find anyway inappropriate given that I waited for it to turn around and I didn't express any complaints (honestly, I work with the public, I also have respect for other people's work, I would never allow myself to do so). If only this had happened, although it made me quite nervous, I probably wouldn't have expressed any opinion here. A few minutes later while I was cutting the pizza into several segments since I was also sharing it with my brother, I cut it into several parts and immediately this "waiter" appears again and without asking starts randomly cutting the pizza with a wheel dirty from other ones pizzas with sausage (I don't eat meat) pumpkin and so on and so forth (and what if I was allergic?) commenting "maybe we use the wheel that you're slow to cut" and other things that I honestly haven't heard from since I was too tired by now angry, but they will be pure damn, how fast it takes to cut a pizza? I would have a photo of the pizza but it is not my intention to damage the business so I will refrain from posting it Now I invite anyone to go to this restaurant because it really deserves it and I truly respect all the people who work there, maybe if you like this waiter (Alfredo) and you've had a hard day like me and you don't want to have other problems ask for the other guy young man who is always smiling quickly and if he sees 30 people to serve he doesn't get impatient. Thanks to the staff I hope it helps collective growth.

The menu is a discovery of traditional Calabrian flavors accompanied at the same time by many other creative and innovative dishes from the chef. Finally, the impeccable service and the welcoming atmosphere make the Locanda the perfect place for a lunch or dinner with friends. In short: always a guarantee

30/03/2025: We enjoyed our planned menu Saturday night 3/29. It was a three course meal with dessert. The seafood salad was delicious and fresh! The Pasta first was really flavorful and perfect portion size. The second dish was a true gift wrapped in cooking plastic to hold all the flavors or a spectacular piece of swordfish! It was so flavorful from the first bite to last. Desert choices were hard to pick one but the Tiramisu was perfect. Umberto and his team did a great job and will go back again when we visit Tropea!

30/03/2025: Very good pizza, pinsa, and pasta in the center of Tropea. Special praise for the extensive wine list. Large garden, but unfortunately it was too wet and cold during our visit. Very friendly service. We'd love to come back!

11/11/2024: The restaurant is located in a great place, the food was served quite quickly, unfortunately that's all the positives. The food was not impressive despite the relatively high prices for the off-season. Portions not very large, no additions to the ordered dishes. The service is efficient, but probably focused on the number of customers.

03/03/2025: The pizzas are cheap (7 €), taste good average. The store seems to be very popular and there is a time slot for pickup. Unfortunately, my pizza was apparently ready much earlier and was only handed over lukewarm.

07/03/2025: There are a few nice views and lots of beautiful and probably not entirely poor people to admire in this harbor. It's best to walk a little further outside the village, because afterwards there's a worthwhile, deserted beach.

01/12/2024: Magnificent experience, fantastic venue, very professional and knowledgeable staff, the best meat ever tasted, starting from the amazing tartare and continuing with super succulent and tasty steaks, ending with Marisa's homemade dessert, an apotheisis for every palate, very honest prices, congratulations, keep it up, it will be our permanent place.
