19/10/2025: “Incipit” is almost a hidden gem, tucked away from the busy High Street and tourist-heavy areas. This spot comes highly recommended by locals — and for good reason. It has a gorgeous outdoor terrace with views over the piazza, but the real wow factor comes when you choose to dine indoors… in the cave! Yes, a beautifully lit, cosy cave with an incredible atmosphere that makes the whole experience feel special. The service was exceptional — friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. The menu is fantastic, offering a perfect mix of local favourites and creative twists. We went all out and enjoyed the full experience: antipasto, primo, and secondo. The tuna tartare was outstanding, bursting with freshness and flavour. I had the Fileja al ’Nduja ragu, which was absolutely mind-blowing — and high on my Calabria culinary wish list. My partner chose the hazelnut risotto, which was equally exceptional. For mains, I had the pistachio-crusted seabass while my partner had the cod — both dishes beautifully presented and cooked to perfection. Highly recommended if you want an authentic, high-quality dining experience away from the tourist traps. Grazie mille per il fantastico servizio 🙏👌👏

18/12/2025: I'd been there 21 years ago, and it was already an institution! A "family-like" atmosphere, informal, and pleasant. Typical, homemade food, a location that gives you the feeling of eating at home, with your grandparents... The owner, a descendant of generations of restaurateurs, is always attentive to his customers: he talks about the hospitality his grandparents gave him, and he's a friendly host who also enjoys sampling tradition. If you're visiting the area (the Mileto Museum has numerous interesting artifacts and unique pieces!), I highly recommend stopping by!

20/11/2025: Located right in the heart of Tropea's bustling old town, the restaurant's terrace is surprisingly peaceful. The menu focuses on fish, and we enjoyed a delicious sea bream baked in a salt crust. Our starter included the region's famous "Cipolla Rossa di Tropea" onions, prepared in three different varieties. The service was attentive and courteous.

31/03/2026: Stunning pasta dishes! My husband is still raving about how wonderful the Strangozzi al profumo di mare (fresh spaghetti with mixed seafood) was - incredibly fresh pasta and a great range of seafood in a delicious sauce. Large portions and served with bread (in a paper bag). I had the linguine with prawns and pistachio which was tasty. Local wine was easy drinking.

16/11/2025: On November 16, 2025, at 11:40 AM, it was lifeless and closed. We walked through half the city specifically. Disappointing.

07/10/2025: I went with my wife and son in September for dinner in the ancient cave. The seafood appetizer smelled bad and tasted nothing like seafood. The octopus was transparent and smelled bad—you couldn't tell it was octopus carpaccio; it was literally transparent, like tissue paper. The rest was anything but anything that reminded you of the sea. Everything was frozen and poorly treated. Parmigiana was the sore point!! It wasn't parmigiana, but a mixture of boiled eggs drowned in tomato sauce. I don't think they even know what eggplant parmigiana is; there were only boiled eggs. I wouldn't go back even if they paid me; it was a TERRIBLE experience that's hard to undo. They have no idea what Italian or Calabrian cuisine is. What a shame! These people were improvised and had never worked in a kitchen!

25/10/2025: At lunchtime, we deliberately drove off the road to this restaurant for the pizza that was advertised. The service was unfriendly and completely uninterested in communicating in any language (English, German, Spanish) other than the local one. Using sign language and a dictionary on his smartphone, the waiter explained that pizza was only available in the evenings. We decided to stay anyway, and that was a mistake. One of the dishes we ordered – Tagliolini al ragu (ragu is the name of a meat sauce made with slowly simmered meats, usually beef and pork) – was pasta with leftover sausages and hot dogs. The food was terrible, and the service was rude. We definitely recommend avoiding this place.

29/03/2026: Returned from a motorcycle tour in Tuscany, booked quickly. Very professional and friendly reception. Excellent hotel close to the center and on the beach. Private parking. Recommended 🔝🔝🔝

27/03/2026: An excellent stay, far exceeding expectations. The rooms were renovated, clean, and, given the cold weather of March 2026, very warm. The staff was friendly, but especially the breakfast. A wide variety of cakes, all different and very fresh, with special attention to gluten-free and lactose-free options. And the coffee, not the usual ground coffee, but pods and a coffee machine.

06/12/2025: The day before yesterday, I celebrated my graduation at the Acquarium restaurant in Naples, and it was a wonderful experience. We ate wonderfully: high-quality dishes, perfectly cooked and impeccably presented by the young man who served us. Both the chef Giorgio and the waiter were delightful, professional, and extremely kind. The waiter, in particular, stood out for the care with which he presented each dish, as well as for his truly rare courtesy and politeness. I recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants a wonderful culinary experience accompanied by impeccable service.

20/03/2026: Extremely satisfied with this dining experience. Voglia di Mare offers a variety of fresh fish dishes. Everything was excellent: raw fish, pasta dishes, and mixed fried fish. I highly recommend it to anyone in the area who wants to eat fresh raw and/or well-cooked fish. The staff is friendly and helpful. We'll definitely be back!
