28/08/2025: The old mill is in a charming location, near the river and surrounded by a green beech forest. Guests are greeted by the owners' smiles and professionalism. The interior rooms are small but charming and well-furnished, with stone and wood predominating. Weather permitting, as was the case yesterday, you can dine at the tables set outside, listening to the soothing sounds of running water and the rustling of the wind through the trees. Once seated, a profusion of hot and cold appetizers begins, along with typical cheeses and cured meats, minestra 'mpastata (potato and potato soup), frittata with Senise crusc-chi peppers, grilled eggplant, olives, and slices of ribbed tomatoes topped with burrata. The first courses follow, strascinati di misc-chigghio topped with cherry tomatoes (indescribable goodness), ravioli with ricotta and creamed asparagus with crispy pancetta. A new taste to my palate, but heavenly. The meats are truly top-notch, a Florentine T-bone steak masterfully cooked rare, a grilled suckling pig as tender as butter. All washed down with excellent wine. All this at a very fair price and excellent value. We finish the meal with coffee and liqueurs kindly offered by the owners. Thanks to Rossella and Mauro.

24/08/2025: A wonderful experience at Mulino Corona Longa! The restaurant, a renovated old mill surrounded by greenery and next to a stream, is truly charming. The typical Lucanian dishes are excellent: from the appetizer of cured meats and cheeses to the lamb soffritto, which particularly impressed me. The service was impeccable: the owner was kind, attentive, and attentive even to the needs of the little ones. The quality-price ratio was fair. Recommended for those who love traditional cuisine and nature. One piece of advice: pay attention to the sign on the road, because the GPS doesn't exactly take you to the right place.

10/08/2025: A great experience, the rooms were really clean and the staff was friendly. The only downside was the lack of communication regarding check-out time. It's also in a super ideal location for exploring the city.

30/08/2025: Go say a prayer first!! I don't think I've ever eaten a worse first course, not even in college or abroad! We had the strascinati with breadcrumbs and cruschi peppers: they were bland, cruschi peppers were a distant dream, but luckily they put 2 liters of oil in them, enough that we had to let the pasta drain before eating it. My girlfriend asked for a vegetarian dish with egg and some vegetables: the vegetables were the same as the appetizer, including a bitter fried eggplant (add the one from the appetizer, and you'll see what you eat), even the egg had to be dried because it was full of oil. Then we asked for salad: a plate of green salad arrived already dressed with oil, oil, oil, vinegar, vinegar, salt, and a little salt. Maybe it's not customary to ask customers to dress it? The meat was very good. But for God's sake, you call it a grill, right? Fair prices, friendly staff, clean place and everything… but we're not there yet.

I took my wife and kids there for lunch, and it turned out to be one of the most genuine meals we’ve had. The food was so authentic that my wife actually got emotional—it reminded her of the dishes her mother used to make. The setting is beautiful and tranquil, surrounded by rolling hills and the charm of rural Italy. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, with hosts who clearly care about sharing their traditions and making guests feel at home. Every dish we tried was packed with authentic flavor and made with fresh local ingredients—simple, traditional cooking that speaks to the soul. It’s the kind of place where you slow down, eat well, and leave feeling deeply satisfied. Whether you’re passing through or looking for a real taste of the Italian countryside, Valsirino is an experience not to be missed.

08/09/2025: I asked for a glass of wine and received a typical Nutella jar glass (€8), which is even listed in the Michelin guide! The staff was inflexible and unfriendly when I asked to change tables. The food was average, nothing exceptional. My response to the owner: her response, unfortunately, confirms exactly what I wrote in my review: an unfriendly and rather arrogant attitude. First point: I never asked for the air conditioning to be turned off; I simply politely asked to change tables. She therefore misrepresented and invented an incident that never happened. Second: the fact that four of us showed up instead of six with reservations (not 20 people less) does not constitute financial loss enough to justify a rude attitude toward customers. Unforeseen circumstances may arise, but that doesn't justify treating condescendingly those who showed up and consumed anyway. Third: I wasn't criticizing the quality of the wine, but the fact that it was served in a small glass, not a chalice, for a price of €8. It's not a question of "details," but of consistency with the standard a Michelin-starred restaurant should guarantee. A restaurant aiming for a certain level should welcome customers with professionalism, availability, and a smile, not with irritated or argumentative responses. His response, however, reveals a defensive and inelegant attitude that does not honor either his cuisine or the prestigious setting in which it is located. Without tourists, he makes no money and earns nothing.

04/09/2025: The dish I recommend, and which I've eaten twice, is the Dolomite lamb, tender and flavorful. The rosé I posted was a good wine. The ricotta dessert was also good, and they even accommodated me with half portions. It's just a shame they don't use the large panoramic terrace in high season.

13/10/2025: At the suggestion of locals, we stop for a quick bite on the way home. Those times when you expect to grab a bite to eat and instead find yourself having a wonderful taste experience... Everything tastes like Lucania, all the products are excellent, from the cured meats for the appetizers to the ingredients for the first courses... Try the stuffed potato, a typical dish, if available, because fresh produce is the rule here. And then, the helpfulness and courtesy are typical of the Lucanians... We'll be back, because we often pass through; you can stop by, don't hesitate. And take the opportunity to visit the castle and the main church, if they're open...they're beautiful... Full marks

28/08/2025: We had an aperitif on the panoramic terrace. The selection of meat and seafood appetizers was excellent, all topped off by a fantastic location and the courtesy of the staff (Marco was extremely friendly and helpful).

23/08/2025: Magnificent hotel in the heart of the Sassi district. The staff is very friendly, even though they don't speak Italian or English. Superb room, very clean and very well-equipped.

28/09/2025: Welcoming place, very kind staff, we felt at home. As soon as we sat down, they pampered us with meatballs made with raw pepper cream and homemade bread with olive oil. After a few minutes, the first courses my husband and I ordered arrived, followed by second courses. Everything was delicious. We'll be back to try the other specialties. Thank you, thank you.

28/09/2025: We were passing through Latronico, and seeing as lunch was approaching, we stopped. When we arrived, we found a well-kept and clean environment. The staff was very friendly. They offered us a taste of Campomaggiore olive oil with some really good bread, which seemed to be made according to tradition, and some bread meatballs with fennel and a cruscko pepper cream. We wanted to try two platters (one Amara Lucania and one from the delicatessen), each better than the other. And a portion of cod, very tasty. Creamy cheeses, accompanied by honey or fig jam. Delicious cured meats, reflecting old local customs. For starters, some paccheri from the tavern, a Lucanian pesto, and a mischiglio. All three were very good (we liked the Lucanian pesto a little less because of the overly bitter flavor of the peppers, but obviously that's subjective). I highly recommend it. P.S. I would have liked to find local chips, or at least local ones, and not frozen ones. Recommended.
