We tried several others during our stay in Turin, and Taverna’s was head and shoulders above all the rest.

24/12/2025: Gourmet lunch in Piedmont Beautiful setting in a small Piedmont village, with attentive and fast service. We enjoyed an aperitif, two glasses of prosecco, and were served four entrées: a chickpea cone, a savory baba, a blue cheese and hazelnut tart, and tomato chips with fresh cream and anchovies with lemon jelly. Very special. There were several tasting menus available, as well as the à la carte menu. We chose the Territory and Tradition tasting menu for €70 per person. Typical Monferrato dishes presented with care. Piedmontese Fassona tartare, rosemary and mustard, smoked egg yolk and shallots, truly excellent. Traditional plinth, roast gravy and thyme, Piedmontese fillet, celeriac, black cabbage, and Bordeaux sauce. Everything was delicious. The pre-dessert, you either love it or hate it, was a very special vinegar sorbet. The dessert: I'm not...a Bonet! Made with the ingredients of a bunet. We were served a small pastry along with coffee and four small sweets. Drinks are not included. Cover charge is €5, 75cl water €4, and we spent €208 for two. Recommended for a special occasion.

The vegetarian options are also well-received for their emphasis on seasonal ingredients. The setting, housed in a beautifully restored historic villa, is truly evocative, with a frescoed interior and refined atmosphere, perfect for a romantic evening or an important occasion.

30/01/2026: This is a truly charming hotel set in the heart of the renowned Gavi wine region. Perched on a hilltop, the former noble villa has been beautifully transformed into a unique and elegant hotel. Surrounded by a beautiful park with a fountain, outdoor swimming pool, and rolling vineyards, the setting feels both peaceful and timeless. I have stayed at Relais Villa Pomela several times, in both summer and winter, and it never fails to impress. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, with genuinely friendly and attentive service that makes every stay feel special. The hotel’s restaurant serves excellent Italian cuisine, refined yet authentic, and sure to satisfy even the most discerning palates. Another great advantage is the proximity to the Serravalle Designer Outlet, just a five-minute drive away. For guests who prefer not to deal with parking, the hotel conveniently offers a shuttle service to and from the outlet. I can highly recommend this hotel and very much look forward to returning again.

08/03/2026: A splendid and impeccably maintained location; unfortunately, the cuisine still needs some improvement to fully live up to the setting. The initial wait was a bit long, but overall bearable: the location and the view help you enjoy the moment. Expectations were high, especially since it's a place we'd love to return to. A few small adjustments to the dishes would be advisable: • Octopus alla Luciana: tender and flavorful, but slightly dry and cut with a knife not exactly suited to the task; • Tagliolini with cacio e pepe and mussels: tasty, but these also arrived a bit dry. An interesting note about the bread: we were told "we'll bring you some warm bread soon"... we expected it to be freshly baked, but instead it was lukewarm but cold in the middle—hard to understand why. The portions were still good, and the dishes were tasty overall. The unsolicited discount at the end was appreciated. Overall, a positive experience: we'll be back.

19/03/2026: A superb gourmet creperie located in the San Salvario area. They make both savory and sweet crepes, both with a unique yet harmonious combination of flavors. The crepe dough is also delicious. The sweet Breton cider is exceptional, with a distinct apple flavor (not a given after trying others in various places) that isn't cloying: so far, it's the best cider I've ever had in Turin. The staff is extremely kind and helpful.

03/01/2026: The restaurant reopened last year after being closed for a few years. I'm not sure if it was under new management, but the current one has done a great job! The atmosphere is welcoming and quiet, and the soft lighting combined with a lovely fireplace (lit! 😉) create a relaxing and pleasant atmosphere. The service is always precise and professional, and we developed a rapport with the staff, who were fun to chat with, beyond the usual routine. The dishes are good; I was satisfied with the tagliatelle with venison ragù and the veal fillet with three peppercorns. The tiramisu, however, despite its beautiful presentation, wasn't matched by its adequate flavor; I found it too lacking in sweetness, and the way it was assembled made it difficult to enjoy.

01/03/2026: A discovery. I've been there twice in 3 days. There were 5 of us with 3 children and we had a great time. The staff was courteous and helpful. The food??? So much stuff. I had both their potatoes and the focaccia with stracchino and cured meat... Incredible!!! Oh, and they also have polenta! Truly a wonderful discovery!
