BOVE'S macellai dal 1929 In Cuneo

I called in the afternoon for a weekday evening in August and was lucky enough to get a table at 7:15 PM. The table I booked had no time restrictions; I'd found online that reservations from 7:15 PM for 8:45 PM had to be vacated. The restaurant is located on a side street off Cuneo's old town, so parking is in the Bishop's Palace area on the edge of town. The atmosphere is pleasant, with strong red accents on the walls and elegant furnishings from the early 1900s and 1930s. It has a beautiful room with a vaulted ceiling and exposed brick. The music is also predominantly from the 1920s and 1930s, both Italian and international. For my appetizer, I ordered an alpine Albanese. The meat was excellent, but the seasoning was too strong, both in quantity and intensity, and completely covered the flavor of the meat. Unfortunately, it wasn't to my liking. I had a Piedmontese picanha, cooked just rare, tasty and juicy, accompanied by vegetables. The bread wasn't bad, but the breadsticks weren't my cup of tea. All the meat dishes offered by the kitchen don't come with a side dish, even the smallest one, and must be added if necessary. Desserts are averagely priced, including the tiramisu. One particular thing I noticed was the cover charge, which is €2 for lunch and €3 in the evening, which I find high. The total cost of the dinner was a little above average; coffee was kindly offered, especially considering we're practically in the center of Cuneo. The staff was always present in the dining room and very discreet as well as very kind. The wine list is remarkably varied, offering both glass and bottle options, with some offerings not limited to the Langhe area, both red and white. A little touch, which is hard to find elsewhere, are the disposable cloth towels in the bathroom, a nice touch. An excellent choice for dinner in Cuneo: quality meat, an elegant setting, attentive and unobtrusive service... the desserts are also very good... I'm not giving it 5 stars only because of the bill, which is a bit high (€50 per person for a starter, main course, and dessert, without wine).

The restaurant is beautiful, clean, meticulously maintained, and has a warm, welcoming atmosphere. The open kitchen concept is fantastic: it allows you to admire the mastery of the dishes and the quality of the ingredients. The food is simply excellent, with an honorable mention for the selection and cooking of the meat, a true hallmark of the restaurant. Everything is delicious, from appetizers to dessert. The staff was incredibly kind, extremely helpful, and knowledgeable in recommending the best cuts and pairings. We had a wonderful time and can't wait to return. Highly recommended!

A well-decorated restaurant in the center of Cuneo, with excellent service and delicious cuisine.

We had dinner there last night and were extremely satisfied. The restaurant, with its expertly restored brick walls and barrel vault, and the interspersed white slabs at a certain height seemingly floating in the air, creates a strange but also useful effect. But let's talk about the food and the service: for the main course, I can only offer a few adjectives: fast, punctual, attentive but not aggressive, and courteous. Talking about food means talking about meat, authentic Piedmontese Fassona beef, the kind that only those who have been working with it for generations can offer to delight their customers' palates. We ordered two meat main courses, a delicious Russian salad, a gratinated vegetable, two bottles of sparkling water, and two desserts for a total of 74 euros. Not enough? A lot? If we're talking about value for money, the price is very high. Best wishes to the house.
