27/11/2025: Osteria della Rivetta is just 500 meters from Venice's most important, yet less-visited, attractions: the Basilica of Santa Maria dei Frari and the Scuola Grande di San Rocco. So, you might as well stop there for a drink and a bite to eat and find yourself in what must be the closest thing to a tapas bar in Venice during the 20th century, since it opened. The place is run by a mother and son who, if you're lucky enough to walk in during a shift change when they're both there, will see them bickering like something out of an Italian soap opera, almost like a parodic ritual. The place is packed with young people from all over the world who have come to study art or whatever else is being studied in Venice, local workers, and tourists and travelers—because, ultimately, it's impossible not to find them in Venice. But the place is good, nice, cheap, and if you greet them in Italian, as is proper in Italy, they'll at least treat you with respect. So learn to say Ciao at least, have a few glasses of very decent demijohn wine with some cicchetti, and be happy. Autumn 2025

19/11/2025: This is a very specific local spot — and depending on what you’re looking for, you might absolutely love it… or you might completely hate it. But if you want to see the real, old-school Venice and have a truly unique experience, this is the place to go. It’s authentic, a bit eccentric, and wonderfully traditional. And a fair warning: from 12:00 to 15:00 mobile phones are strictly forbidden — if you dare take yours out, the owner will happily threaten to toss it into the canal 😍 If you’re looking for something genuine, quirky, and full of character, you’ll appreciate this place. A true slice of Venice.

09/12/2025: We were there for dinner at 5:30 pm. It was correspondingly quiet. The staff were professional. The bread roll wasn't fresh. Given the high prices, one would expect better quality ingredients. There's room for improvement…

07/05/2025: I cannot say enough about the lovely waitress who made a special effort to allow our family to be seated outside in the courtyard on a beautiful warm evening. The food was exceptional and our granddaughter loved her pizza. We stayed late and enjoyed a few limoncello's. If you are staying in the area of San Stae this is a restaurant you should try.

25/10/2025: This is a hotel restaurant, so be prepared for hotel prices. The food is delicious, but the portions tiny, so I could not give it the highest rating

12/10/2025: This restaurant is part of the Hyatt Centric Hotel and serves excellent food - mainly seafood. Our waitress was very nice and helpful and made us feel welcome and appreciated. We would return despite the high price tag.

23/10/2025: Right in front of Venice. Clean toilets, a great place to have a good coffee, a slice of pizza or a sandwich and relax a bit. The staff is also very friendly.

Welcoming and very clean place, very kind and super professional staff, you can enjoy excellent pizzas 🍕, cooked to perfection, first courses of land and sea, second courses of land and sea, grill, all excellent, made to order, the fish dishes 🐟 are the restaurant's strong point (delicious), very good homemade desserts, excellent wine list 🍷🥂, and good beer 🍻🍺, try it and believe it! Highly recommended

18/09/2025: Excellent food. We had fish, penne, prosciutto, scallops and deserts. Delicious!!! So glad they have it open considering all the camping restaurants around the area. Really good prices and wonderful surroundings. Spacious parking

07/11/2025: Good pizza, a real shame about the staff, one waitress in particular, very arrogant and know-it-all, zero friendliness, definitely doesn't make you want to come back.

The food is truly delicious: carefully prepared dishes, fresh ingredients, and authentic flavors that are evident from the first bite. Each course is carefully prepared and served quickly, a sign of perfect organization in the kitchen. The dining room staff truly deserves a special mention: kind, professional, and always smiling waiters, capable of putting every customer at ease. It's rare to find such attentive yet spontaneous service. The bill is also honest and transparent, in line with the quality offered. The atmosphere is welcoming, clean, and meticulously maintained, perfect for both a dinner with friends and a relaxed lunch. A place you'll always want to return to — La Tortuga is synonymous with quality, courtesy, and authentic flavor! 🍝🍤🍷

24/07/2025: Hemos comido muy bien, el camarero que nos atendió ha sido muy amable, incluso hablábamos español, la comida estaba muy buena , se nota que es casera, hay gente de la ciudad comiendo aquí, por eso entramos y acertamos. Lo recomiendo mucho. Muy buen precio, por cierto.

16/06/2025: I think the management has changed because the published photos do not represent the current menu. The food is all of excellent quality, the bread is homemade with sourdough and is delicious, the beers are excellent and very particular, the wines are excellent, you absolutely have to try the knife-cut tartare, the homemade roast beef, and the creamed cod. I highly recommend trying this cicchetteria!

13/12/2025: I’ve become a regular here. So delicious. Perfect crepe spot. I’m just sad I didn’t get to finish the last crepe I bought because a seagull grabbed the last bits. 😭 careful eating outside, tourists! Can’t wait to go back!

18/11/2025: Pleasant, simple, and tasty home cooking. A truly delicious fried fish dish, crispy, hot, and flavorful (though not terribly generous), with decent side dishes. Good value for money. A liqueur provided by the manager. Attentive and fairly fast service. Recommended.

28/07/2025: We went for aperitivo at this recently renovated lounge bar. Delicious cocktails and a much more welcoming atmosphere than before. We were told they're also open for lunch with sandwiches, toasted sandwiches, and platters.
