11/07/2025: After a long walk, we came across this lovely restaurant and stopped for lunch. It's a charming spot nestled between the golf course lawns and the woods. The owners and staff were welcoming and extremely kind. We had an aperitif and two first courses. The entree was very welcome and delicious. The polenta tortelloni with cheese and mushrooms were spectacular and delicious. Highly recommended. We returned after two years, and it's still a magical and welcoming place. The food and courtesy were exquisite. July 11, 2025 And here we are again at this magical restaurant. Once again, a wonderful experience: from the welcome to the atmosphere, from the precise, courteous, perfect service, to the food...unique. This time we brought friends who were thrilled with the experience. Tradition is evident in every dish, but each dish is still new and original. A big thank you, Paolo!

25/05/2025: Very busy pizzeria but despite everything they found us a place (7 of us) right away. Very kind and smiling staff. Excellent pizza both for dough and ingredients. A good lager beer. Highly recommended

06/07/2025: We have been visiting Sappada for many years and on one of our vacation days we decided to stop for lunch at Baita Mondschein, a place we had already been in the past. The place is really beautiful aesthetically, with a splendid view. That's also why we chose it: too bad that the beauty of the place is completely denied by unwelcoming staff and a cold, snobbish atmosphere, where only how much you spend seems to matter. As soon as we arrived (me, my mom and our dog), we asked very simply if it was possible to order a toast or a sandwich, something quick. The waitress answered us with an almost annoyed air, saying that perhaps they don't have them and that she had to check. She seemed really annoyed by our request, as if it were absurd or out of place. At that point, we decided to sit down and order from the menu anyway, hoping for a more pleasant experience. They brought us, as a "courtesy appetizer", a single-portion cake that we hadn't asked for but certainly a nice gesture. Visually also cute, with little flowers on top as decoration, but at first taste it was clearly a frozen cake. Simplicity is fine, as long as it is honest: but it is a little funny that, with such basic products, such a haughty tone is maintained. Shortly after, the owner arrives, who introduces himself with a handshake - a gesture that might seem polite, but clearly done more to get noticed than to truly welcome us. We order two plates of gnocchi with ragù, a simple dish on a fairly creative menu. And as soon as we order, the owner exclaims, turning to us: "I would have bet on it, and I would have won the bet." An out of place and unpleasant sentence, which seemed to want to say: "Of course you took the cheapest dish, obviously." A sarcastic, inappropriate and completely unsolicited comment. We looked at each other without responding, but already there we completely lost the desire to stay. The environment quickly became hostile. The waiters looked at us insistently and annoyingly, as if we were unwelcome guests. At the end of the meal, a waitress asked us if we wanted dessert. We said no, thanking her. Shortly after, another asked us the same question. When we politely reiterated our no, the waitress made a clear gesture toward the rest of the staff, as if to say: “No way with these.” Now, this is exactly the kind of attitude that makes you lose all desire to stay. And in fact: it's not a question of money. If I have a good time in a restaurant, I'm the first to have dessert, coffee, to stay longer. But if I feel judged or treated with condescension, I honestly don't see the point in staying seated longer than necessary, a feeling that I almost never experience because if you have a good time in a restaurant you shouldn't be eager to get up, but this is what I felt, so I didn't see the point in spending even a single euro more in a place like that. Let alone leaving a tip. We paid in cash – about 46 euros – leaving the exact amount, without a tip for a matter of principle: the attitude we received was disrespectful and clearly annoyed by the fact that we had not ordered more courses. As soon as we got up, the owner ran to open the booklet to check if we had paid, then greeted us with another smile that was as polite as it was fake. A final note: the staff were all dressed elegantly, clearly to give the place a tone, but form is not enough. We witnessed a waiter who was trying to explain the menu in English and couldn't even translate the word "language"... Before acting haughty, perhaps it would be better to work on the substance, as well as on the appearance.

The atmosphere is elegant and welcoming, the cuisine impeccable and worthy of much more than five stars. 03/03/2025: Ottimo per festeggiare un compleanno o per passare un fine settimana in un luogo incantevole. Recentemente ristrutturato ha belle camere, pulite, con bagno annesso. Ottima cucina con i sapori del luogo e prezzi adeguati. Avvicinamento in 40' a piedi o con il fuoristrada del proprietario di cui abbiamo apprezzato la grande disponibilità e la gentilezza che ha fatto il paio con la simpatia dei suoi collaboratori. Una serata incantevole in posto incantevole impreziosito dalla neve di questi giorni.

04/05/2025: The temple of spaghetti. Exquisite dishes, doses of pasta based on requests (from 80 g up to 2 ounces), exceptional sauces. Very kind staff. Also suitable for the little ones. Every time I go to Sappada I can't wait to book a table.

11/07/2025: The place was very crowded, but they found us a table anyway, unfortunately. Small portions: polenta tortelli with Montasio cheese were bland, and 5 were small. 14 euros. Canederli? 3 meatballs. 14 euros. Trio of frico was good, but still poor. When we left immediately after the first course, we mentioned that we weren't satisfied, and were told that they were a restaurant. What does that mean? Since when do small portions define a restaurant? As for the taste, the answer was everyone likes it. Okay. We'll be picky. I'm not giving less than three stars, since nothing was bad, but there's a long way to go from that to being satisfied. After leaving, we went to another restaurant where we "completed" our lunch.

12/02/2025: We tried their restaurant for lunch during a winter holiday. Rustic and very nice place immersed in old Sappada. The dishes and the quality of the raw materials are excellent and reflect the Friulian culinary tradition. Good service.

30/01/2025: Arriving at the facility's campsite on January 26, 2025, we were supposed to stay in the camper for 5 nights. Unfortunately, after just 2 nights spent there, we had to leave because the campsite was completely frozen! Once we arrived on site we realized that to access the bathroom there were two alternatives: via a steep staircase without a handrail (photo attached) or by returning down to the reception and going down another small slope. It's a shame that both entrances were almost inaccessible due to the icy and slippery road surface. Considering the fact that on the second evening of my overnight stay I slipped disastrously on the ice a few meters from the camper, hitting my left shoulder and that my 3-year-old son slipped several times, a couple of which got him very badly hurt enough to have to be treated, I would like to point out that , for those who don't know, the hotelier and the campsite manager have a duty to protect their customers, according to articles 1175 and 1375 of the civil code, regarding correctness and good contractual faith: that is, they have the obligation to guarantee the hygiene, health, surveillance and safety of the spaces where the service takes place as established by current regulations. The managers and owners of the facilities must guarantee the safety and physical integrity of the users who access the service, beyond compliance with the regulations in force, otherwise they will be liable for damages suffered by customers, as established by art. 2051 of the Civil Code , regarding damage caused by things in custody. On the morning of January 28th I set the camper in motion to leave the structure and telephoned the reception to obtain information on the feasibility and safety of the exit manoeuvre: I was advised to install snow chains because on the slope that divides the pitch from the exit could slip. I point out to my interlocutor that in the event of damage to things or people, the entire responsibility lies with the structure that hosts us and I am rudely reiterated to use snow chains and that it is my obligation to own them! I fit snow chains, obviously, I wouldn't want to slip or roll over with the camper! I walk almost 15 meters of road that separates my pitch from the reception and then dismantle them immediately afterwards; the road surface had been cleared there. I enter the reception to pay and take the opportunity to point out the problem and the fact that in 3 days and 2 nights no one had used the bathroom as it was inaccessible. I'll let you imagine what it means to not shower for two and a half days after doing activities in the mountains! I was answered with the exact words: "if you are not able to camp in the winter, go to a hotel!" I specify that my wife and I were born and raised in campers and in campsites and rest areas, especially in winter, we have seen them but never found a situation like this, in addition to the inconvenience of not using the toilets, the shamelessness in telling us to go in the hotel. It has been alleged that the undersigned made "verbal aggression" towards them, but there was no threat, defamation or mistreatment; not understanding where the "verbal threat" takes place, I deduce that they mistook my way and my tones of speaking (I have a fairly powerful voice) as something threatening. Furthermore, it is better not to go into detail about the embarrassing discussion between me and the owner of the facility so as not to add further fuel to the fire. But okay, let's move on. I don't judge the structure and the various services they offer, I only used the shuttle, the landscape is very beautiful, but it must be considered that due to neglected maintenance we had to return from the holiday early, smelly and driving with a sore shoulder . Two stars for the negative experience.
