I recently happened to stop for lunch at this refuge which, despite knowing the area very well, I had never been to. Very refined cuisine, attentive, friendly and knowledgeable staff, well-cooked and presented dishes: less like a refuge, more like a restaurant. Prices slightly higher than other refuges, but the difference can be felt and seen on the plate. Well done!

Unfortunately, we only stopped for a coffee break, but I'll definitely be back to try the refuge's cuisine! I recommend climbing up the trail that starts from Borgata Bach.

We were looking for a refuge surrounded by nature, NOT accessible by car, and with rooms with private bathrooms. After a huge effort to find such a place, we were lucky enough to discover the Monte Ferro refuge in Sappada! Superb hospitality, excellent food (we had dinner, breakfast, and lunch!!!), and a truly lovely room with a newly renovated bathroom! If you want—and we did, but it's a bit tiring—you can go up to see the Olbe lakes (a rather challenging two-hour climb! But it's worth it).
We were truly satisfied, we'll be back! Thank you!

I reached it via the well-groomed forest road, taking an hour's walk uphill (steep). The walk was in the silence of the forest. Once I arrived, I didn't want to leave: the view was wonderful, the owner was friendly, the waitress was kind, and the menu was traditional and authentic. I ate excellent polenta and frigo. I descended via the path, which seemed much less steep. It's not very well-traveled, so crampons were fine for me because the snow was icy. I dream of staying overnight at Monte Ferro one day. Congratulations, and see you next year!
