02/02/2025: Una stupenda domenica in famiglia trascorsa tra buon cibo, ottimo vino e atmosfera assolutamente familiare e accogliente. Marco porta a tavola non solo l’essenza e l’autenticità della Toscana ma soprattutto l’animo e il brio. Se volete mangiare come a casa e sentirvi a vostra agio, bambini compresi, questa taverna è la scelta migliore!

18/02/2025: Unfortunately I was not able to make a reservation although I was trying to do so 8 months in advance for my birthday. They first rejected my request without any specific reason then when I contacted them they told me to make a reservation 5 days before the dinner date. So I did that and wanted to check different time options so I started asking questions if it is possible to have a dinner at a different time as during reservation steps earlier time was possible, but the told me no and rejected my reservation again saying it is confusing and sending a note saying to make a reservation 5 days before scheduled dinner (although it was done 5 days prior dinner date)! When I called them they were arrogant, but looking at negative reviews I am not surprised at all. Luckily I was able to book a table at another place which was magnificent - Fuoriluogo where staff welcomed me with no issues and answered all my questions. Thanks to Osteria I found a hidden gem in San Gimigiano which is not overrated. Edit: to prove they lie in addition. I am attaching the picture of my phone call which was picked up otherwise letters would have been red.

10/02/2025: TOO EXPENSIVE: nice place, friendly staff but for two bottles of water, two glasses of white wine, two tartares, one and a half portions of vin santo (with ice) with cantucci (4 cantucci in total) 86 euros is really a lot.... Too much!!

19/01/2025: Warm and welcoming place, hospitable, kind staff who make you feel at ease, but let's get to the point... it's not the usual menu, refined cuisine, but homemade, delicious accompanied by excellent wines.... if you pass by Certaldo I recommend stopping here to taste the Notran products exalted in the cuisine of this Osteria!

08/01/2025: Ottimo il pranzo alla Capannina sul lago la mia scelta cade sempre sul maialino di latte ma tutti i piatti sono buoni con prodotti tipicamente toscani biologici e non .... Ottima come sempre la scelta dei vini...consiglio anche per trascorrere una giornata negli ampi spazi di verde.

28/10/2024: We chose the Cavour 2020, excellent! They have classic pizzas, revisited ones, ciaccini; the pizzas are thin, the tomato is fragrant and not acidic, well filled. The restaurant has few seats inside, but has an outdoor area with other tables. They are also equipped for takeaway. We will be back!

01/02/2025: I've been trying to book a pizza for two since 2023 and either they don't have an agenda at hand or the first available reservation is after 6 months, this time it went worse, they told us they didn't have room until the end of the year. The thing that saddens me most is that they don't even try to propose a date, they simply leave saying that it's not possible (...perhaps because the 2026 agenda isn't on sale yet 😅)

20/01/2025: Un ottimo ristorante che nella bella stagione offre anche una meravigliosa terrazza con vista, dalla quale ammirare il paesaggio toscano mentre degusti piatti buonissimi. Noi abbiamo preso della carne tenerissima con patate arrosto squisite. Perfetto anche il servizio. Torneremo.

10/01/2025: During my Christmas break in Italy, I was catching up with an old friend and needed the perfect spot for a relaxed dinner. He suggested Il Castello, and honestly, it was a brilliant choice. Nestled on the hilltop of Certaldo Alto, the restaurant oozes the same medieval charm as the village itself..just stepping in felt like being transported to another time. The vibe inside was warm and rustic, with terracotta floors, wooden furniture, and soft lighting that made everything feel so cozy. We were welcomed with big smiles and seated at this beautiful little table right by a massive, gorgeous fireplace. Talk about setting the mood! We started with a bottle of red wine (because when in Tuscany, right?) and some incredible focaccia, it was the kind of bread you keep sneaking pieces of even though you know food’s coming. For starters, I had a stuffed artichoke with bacon (unbelievably good), while my friend went for liver pâté and fennel salami, both total hits. For mains, I went for the rabbit, and my friend chose the roasted chicken. Everything was cooked perfectly, so good that dessert wasn’t even a question. I had cheesecake, my friend went for chocolate mousse, and both were just the cherry on top of an already amazing meal. The service was flawless, friendly without being over the top, and the whole evening just felt special. If you’re in the area, this place is an absolute gem. Traditional Tuscan food with a creative twist, a beautiful setting, and that warm, personal touch. Honestly, I can’t recommend it enough!

29/09/2024: A fantastic place. The rooms are modern, clean and spacious. Patricia and Tony are wonderful hosts. Hopefully return in the future.

06/09/2024: Unfortunately we were only there for two nights, Patricia and Toni are really great hosts. For German tastes, the breakfast is also one of the best that we were served on our Italy tour. Would come back at any time and recommend the accommodation unconditionally.

16/01/2025: We stopped for lunch after visiting Certaldo, what a lovely surprise! Pizzeria and restaurant, plus bar. The room is beautiful and spacious. One of us wasn't very hungry and had a cappuccino with a piece, while two of us had normal lunch. The pappardelle with wild boar was delicious and plentiful, with excellent sauce, it's not easy to find it like that. Apple dessert with ice cream, that was excellent too, and the service was kind and professional. If I go back to Certaldo, I'll stop there again.

05/11/2024: Sono tornato alla botteghina dopo tanto tempo...ci venivo spesso con i miei genitori fino a che sono stati in grado di uscire...Un po' mi turba tornare nei posti dove sono stato con i miei ... Però ho fatto molto bene....ho preso il piattone di antipasti eppoi il maialino al forno con patate....spettacolari come anche il costo contenuto. grazie
